Thanks for posting my friend. I discovered Peter initially through Genesis & then progressively with the development of his solo work. I find it incredibly hard to properly define him, but he's so unique & was never afraid to experiment with being fundamentally different in pioneering ways! His use of expressive language is both extraordinary & a joy to behold! I honestly believe we won't see his like again & for me he ranks alongside the very best in modern musical history! 😉
Genesis’ best songs and music 🎶 was 😅in my opinion between the years 1966 - 1975 when Peter was their front man and singer 👩🎤 along with his costumes & masks 🎭!!!!
Fantastic tribute to a musical genius. Am going to see him on the i/o tour in Sept. So thrilled to finally see him live after being an ardent fan 35+ years. ❤❤❤
I saw Genesis in Cincinnati post partum. Green glowing strips everywhere... two drummers. I don't think it was like the years with Gabriel, and regretted not seeing their works earlier in the decade, but in my defense, I was just a kid then. I saw Peter Gabriel at NYC, Madison Square Gardens in the early '90s. I cannot remember the actual date. He did Biko as his encore and I think I almost died from the emotional spirit that was being carried by the music and every single audience member. I am an "Early Genesis guy" and had every album release. And I had Gabriel's solo library in several forms as well, sometimes multiple copies. Sadly, all of my life's gatherings of 35 years were all stolen, so I only have digital files and RUclips and such now at 63. I have actually missed some of his since published material, and seeing comments here, I'll have to give The Passion a listen. Sorry for being gone so long, Pete. Homelessness takes its toll in strange ways.
@@johnnygraham4004 Well what? You're obviously a fan, but if you're somehow dismissing everything post-1975, you're missing the bulk of what made him a unique artist.
Ah, you should have included a photo from the Belgium TV live performance in early 1972, before he went for the head shave. He was at his most beautiful in that film! An absolute angel Gabriel =)
Interesting how little his face and expression has changed from very young boy to pensioner - instantly recognisable. Bespeaks a very genuine person with no affectations or phoniness.
It is photoshopped because i've served him in 2008 when i have worked at The Victoria And Albert Museum in London, and he was already bald and quite heavy by then...although only 58 years old. This clip is fairly good, but NOT faithful with reality.
It's from a forum. It is photoshopped. Peter last had long hair right around 1991ish and cut it for the Us album promotion and then shaved his hair for the last time around 95-96ish and hasn't had hair since.
@@monsieurzitoune @johnnygraham4004 it's originally a traditional Friulian dance from Medieval times. Friûl is a region in the Eastern Alps, now part of Italy. Branduardi took it from there. The lyrics (in Friulian, a rhetoromanic language) are modern.
I have been thinking for a very long time that a meeting between Peter and Angelo Branduardi could have generated a masterpiece for now it hasn't happened let's hope for the future
Like I amended at the top, This is the very first video that I made within an hour of signing onto RUclips, not knowing if it would even work :) back in January. Thanks for watching it!
@Im A visitor The original song is "Schiarazula Marazula", an aria from 1578, taken from Giorgio Mainerio's opera "Il primo libro de balli accomodati per cantar et sonar d'ogni sorte de instromenti". It was made famous in the 70s by the Italian singer-songwriter Angelo Branduardi, who rearranged it and added a new text entitled "Ballo in Fa diesis minore".
Yes people seem obsessed with this photo (not you) I honestly put this video together to see how the app worked and how to upload onto RUclips, the first hour that I joined!! (January 30) Thanks Pedro. I do like the subject and the music however, so it's not a throw-away by any means.
This is the Schiarazula Marazula Song recorded in 1991 by Sicut Leo. Vittorio Grisolia: viella, flutes, chromorni. Marco Casiraghi: ribeca, bagpipes, flutes. Beppe Animosi: psaltery, flutes, chromorni. Adelio Ponzoni: flutes, chromorni, percussion. Dario Benatti: lute, flutes, chromorni.

Absolutely, love Peter Gabriel. My most favorite music artist and wonderful soul.
What a voice, love Peter
Never seen a guy determined to look so different every year of his life.
He was & still is a pioneering genius. A true inspiration to all the artists that followed through his imagery & soulful lyrics! Wonderful gift! 😉👍
Yes I'm totally on board with that. Thanks Rob!

nice how he seemed to get happier as he got older
Yes true, good observation!
More peaceful for sure. :-)
This man got better looking the older he got!! Genius, gorgeous and I’m so in love 🥰 .
Musical Genius... ✌️
I admire the Man . Nice !
Thaks Ray thanks for watching! Yes Peter is ultra-creative.
Thanks!
1968 he looked like David Cassidy. He’s still a very handsome man.
So very handsome ❤
"The Lamb...." - the best prog rock album for me. Peter one of the most talented people in music
Yes I agree and I do like the period 1970-thru 75 the best, great music: inventive, after that well....

The many hairstyles of Peter Gabriel!
genesis greatest music was when peter was with them.💖
I would tend to agree :) Thanks Ian!

Handsome and talented man. Why did he shave his head like he did in the early 70s? It was very peculiar.
This is what I thought :)

when he toured Iceland with Zoey Bowie :)

He was Syd Barret for a while.

So when did Peter Gabriel turn into Rod Steiger?
haha I'm mapping the exact date with scientific tools.
The 2008 photo is a montage I suppose. He already went bald around 2000. (Not that it matters).
