Yeah, it does have the Scritti Politti sound. Not sure if they penned this song though. I am a big fan of Scritti Politti, and I know they penned Chaka Khan's Love of a Lifetime. I knew of "Another Lover" before seeing Loverboy. So when I first saw the movie and it opened with this song, I was like "GREAT TUNE!!". Another bit of 80's music trivia, E.G. Daily has a small part in Loverboy.

I always loved this 1980s song from Patrick Dempsey's, "Loverboy", movie. It always was such a cute song. Too bad this was the only big hit song this group had. I also think Patrick Dempsey should get kudos for how he revived both his acting career and his appearance and became an even better actor than in the 1980s, beginning with "Scream 3", by the late great Horror master, Wes Craven, before starring in "Grey's Anatomy".

As a Brit on holiday in Florida '87 and California '88 I loved this pop-dance style of music! In '88 there were 3 songs I took back to the UK on 12" vinyl. This was my favourite, also Tracie Spencer (Symptoms of true love) and Information Society (What's on your mind). Oh and I kept hearing a ballad type song called Please Don't Go Girl by an unkown group called....NKOTB! Happy times.....
Yet ironically, Giant Steps were English! This was a hit in the US and was barely noticed here in the UK. Shame, I loved it. In the UK by 1988, I think music had moved away from New Romantic pop, onto emerging House music. Eg.... Biggest hit in the UK in 1988 was "The only way is up" by Yazz and the Plastic Population. Very different sound to this! (I prefer this).
@@droge192 They were indeed Englosh duo, one of which I'm sure u know was married to Beverley Craven. It was a style of music I liked when I was on the wEST cOAST of USA in 1988. I really like this power pop/dance style they had in America from about 87-89. I know the PWL team did a few remixes of some of the tracks around this time, namely Tracie Spencer. Infact Bananarama's I Can't Help It chorus bears more than an uncanny resemblece to Fascinated by Company B !! I was never really a fan of The only Way Is Up but I can see it's general appeal for its style in '88. Each to their own of course lol! Cheers for now.

I was in middle school when this song played a lot on the radio in 1988. Then it seemed like it got left behind by the end of the year, as the radio stopped playing it. To the point where I forgot about it. But in 1993, and happen to catch the opening credits of the movie "Loverboy" on the TV there, and the song that played there, sounded familiar. By then, I was in high school. Then it hit me that it was this song that I forgotten about. I have not forgotten since then. And never will, thanks mainly to RUclips.
