Emoraven280 Thats how many youkai and immortals feel and possibly the reason why many hate humans, because they have short fragile lives they get the benefit of not feeling the same as a yokai but turn to one if they do feel those feelings. Also why not befriend the enemy if you both move to a new but old world so that way you won't be lonely and have more than just flowers as companions? Enemies or allies, I don't care if I am in the non-existent world that only those there know just as long as there is another conscious soul to interact with, but I would die inside if I lived in a beautiful paradise with the only life there is me.

So it is possible that ZUN could have the older Pc98 era characters like Mima or Sariel (whom I suspect of actually being the mother of the Celestial Tenshi Hinawawi) to pay Reimu a visit.

F inally, to make things sadder, Shikieki had stated in Marisa's story from PoFV that flowers in Gensokyo who doesn't grow naturally (meaning seasonal, or by fairies) are actually souls who can't rest in peace. The reason that there were so many flowers at PoFV is because Komachi wasn't doing her job as guidance for the souls to the underworld. Yuuka, even before PoFV, has been said to be the Demon of the Four Seasons. With this, she deeply cares about flowers, and more from the ones in PoFV. I like to imagine Yuuka initially cultivated her frightening persona because she thought it was fun, but eventually realized she had trapped herself with it. While she still enjoys scaring fairies and the like, she’s unintentionally isolated herself from any real connection with others. This song makes me think of her coming to that realization.

PC-98 characters are canonly still here, Yuuka can see them if she want.
Theire still alive, plus Yuka doesn't consider Reimu as enemy she hangs out regularly over at the shrine and often joins in the parties.

Wow, this would allign perfectly well with her being a former fairy, I think Yuka is also the one that helped with raising the young miko of Hakurei.
Her rude and brutal behavior is just her way to show her love.
