- This is the Cost of Living in Trinidad and Tobago, at least for the week, kinda, well not really but yeah, I’ve been hedging to do something like this, because things like this does not truly reflect my weekly expense, or does it, well at least this is the first time I track every time I spent some funds for this week, the end of October 2023 into the beginning of November 2023, so join me my Trinbago vibes peeps as we explore how much money I spent this week.

I am a retiree from a financial institution..and I have come to understand that very few people are financially literate. I have to thank my former employer for educating us about planning and budgeting. I am not saying that everyone learnt from it but I certainly did. There are a myriad of ways that people can survive..and even thrive..on the money they have in their pockets. Being wise in the ways you spend your money..being more self sufficient by preparing meals etc..finding ways to cut down on using electricity..water..gas etc goes a long way to eliminating the stress of living. I
Budgeting definitely helps, but you’re right financial literacy is needed to truly survive/live in this world
Good night bro . That was one of your most personal video. Yes some will spend less, some will spend more . And we have not even looked at entertament..cinamar, books etc...o gosh🙄. And meds . Thank God we can get some medical help at almost no cost to our pockets . And then..the rent ...This was an informative and personal vid.Thank you . And above all be alert. And the same goes for all the trinibago vibes family .Please be aware of your suroundings .And to all TBV peeps have a peaceful night. Now to find some snacks😂
That it was bro, and yeah we are fortunate that our health care is basically free and some medication we can get without spending a cent, and yes peeps we need to be more observant on the outside
Thank you for this video. I’m truly considering retiring in Trinidad. I’ve got a few more years tho think about it but thanks for the info. Have a good day friend.
You’re most welcome, hopefully we don’t crash our economy by then
Very very informative. I think folks living away think things are cheap and when they visit they spend bc of course they’re on vacay. The reality of day to day is real in any country you live in. Thanks for keeping it real❤ love you and the wife . ❤ from Florida/ NY
Yup, the cost of living is rising all over, for me I think visiting the US now is much more expensive than before, but yeah peeps really underestimate how expensive it is here at times and thanks always for the love and support 🙏🏽
Thanks again for your information vlogs and for sharing this type of info. I enjoy these budgeting vlogs that you do and find them useful. When you give a price I like to compare it with prices /cost of living here in toronto and so far most things work out to be approximately the same dollar wise. 👍🇹🇹🇨🇦🥂💕🇹🇹
Yeah more or less, and glad you enjoyed it
great video
also that is commitment in dropping a video every week really admire that kudos,
very cool in shooting videos whilst doing this vid as well
Thanks and yeah, it definitely keeps me busy
I really enjoyed this video. I wish my bills was small like yours, but I working on it. Thanks for sharing. Blessings
Glad you enjoyed it Deborah
Great vid as always . Traveling once or twice per week saves on gas but it’s just less convenient . The cost of living comfortably is really tough now.
Thank you Amarlie and yeah, for me if it’s strictly to and from work, the gas normally last the week, but for content creation we go a lil beyond, lol
Nice video very interesting. Definitely would like to see some more thanks for sharing 👍🏻 💯 ❤️
Thanks
Thanks for sharing bro. Real life info
You’re most welcome, I won’t lie, I was back and forth in doing this one, but I really wanted to see how much I really spend
Loved your video. I’m planning to retire home. Tired of the US. Your video gave me an idea of billing expenses.
@@peggyparris6967 thank you and I’m glad this gave you an idea for retirement….i could do with that myself all now, lol
@@TrinbagoVibes 😃😃👍🏽
Great content as always bro 👏🏾💯🎉
Thanks 🙏🏽
Wow food for thought i could just imagine how difficult it would be for some people on a everyday basis you should do a video on some savings tips if possible thanks Rajeev
That’s a good idea, hopefully those $100 a week and $400 a month vids are a start, lol
Thank you so much for this video. I am trini descent living in Canada. I was considering moving my family to Trinidad for my toddler to start school in another year. Canada cost of living is unreal and the weather is not ideal. The schools have propaganda. I know the cost of living is high all around but I desire being more connected to the culture and nature. Please do more videos for people like me who are considering moving
You’re most welcome, tbh our crime rate is getting out of hand…so I would suggest you monitor that before making any decision…but warmth and culture, you’ll definitely get that here
Good content as usual
Keep it up
Thank you 🙏🏽
When I converted your total for the week, compared to my weekly cost of living. It's expensive. You drive to work and I take the Express bus to Manhattan which is costly. If I go into the city to work for three days, I pay $41.00 dollars. For me I think my cost of living is also expensive.
Keep on making these kinds of videos. I totally enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it and yeah when you do the conversion it’s definitely expensive
Costly
Love this type of content.. it' just a different concept
Thanks and yeah I guess so, lol, cuz it really makes you think about your spending
I find it really amazing that I bought some currant rolls and cheese pie just before watching this video
🤣🤣🤣🤣 win 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Great minds think alike. 😄😄😄
Hi Rajeeve nice video, yes do more videos like this one
Thanks Reshma 🙏🏽
Your electricity bill was shockingly low. Would love if you do a video on tips on conserving electricity lol. Great video btw!
Don’t have the A/C running for too long, lol, we literally using fans right through and it surprisingly saves us on the electricity bill, plus we don’t leave on lights too long and use the energy efficient ones, but that’s a good idea for a video
Here watching & showing support bro
Much appreciated bro 🙏🏽
"Money comes in! Money goes out!" aka the Plus and Minus Concept! XD LOL I wondered if you were planning to eat tuna every day.
Lol, so true, as I get paid, I clear my credit card and I’m basically back to zero, lol
Hey Rajiv, compliments on another great video and keep up the good work.
While I did enjoy the video, I would be remiss not to suggest that other mandatory expenses be included in a video highlighting recurrent expenses in the life of the average Trinidadian such as rent/mortgage payment (because we all gotta live somewhere) and life insurance, annuity payments (because any sane Trini should at least have life or medical insurance if not a personal pension plan for their retirement).
Looking forward to seeing more of your videos, stay blessed and be safe!
Thanks and ihu, but I didn’t include those because I don’t pay rent (at least not on a monthly basis) and I didn’t have to pay for those others insurance during the week that I choose, that’s why I stated in the video this is basically what I spend and it would vary for others
Wow, I really need to be more conservative with my spending. My grocery bill or going Superpharm is my big expenditure. 😢
lol, yup those groceries does be a killer on your budget sometimes and well superPharm always have some things that calls your wallet so I understand
blessings bro 🙏 🙌
Much appreciated and same to you and yours bro
Thank you for sharing
You’re welcome
Imagine those who have to pay rent/mortgage and have children? Cost of living in T&T is somewhat ridiculous
Most definitely
Can you post prices of rents and mortgages? If you don’t mind
Rent varies from area to area, and I’m not sure how’s the current market, as for mortgages…from what I’m aware of it’s basically starts from about $7500 TT per month for a long period….fortunately I don’t have either at this point
Nice video brother
Thanks bro
I used to live down the road from Edinburgh Hindu Temple.. !
Ohh nice
@@TrinbagoVibesI know Pundit Ramesh Tiwari very well. I played tabla for him in Orlando back in the 90’s. Early this year I had dinner right across street at Wing Hua. Good times
@@Dave1854that’s pretty awesome, he was out of the country the time I visited for this one, but his son provided a wealth of information
@@TrinbagoVibes it’s a small world! I personally visited that temple quite a few times when I lived there for Sunday morning service as well as Divali programs. The good old days I should say.
Good Morning Fam 😊👋
Whoaaa, Mawnin, morning
Why is gas so expensive in TNT..and we have oil/gas???
Cuz our reserves are depleting, plus our government shut down our refinery so the cost is raising, but we are still cheaper than the rest of the Caribbean
Life in Trinidad hard
It’s definitely getting there
Hey everyone
Greetings
Fun video can you do a video exploring San Fernando
Thanks and I’m definitely doing that in a future video, as I basically grew up there so stay tuned
I also put 200 in gas every 5 days 😭, I miss the days when 100 use to do the job
Yup, I miss those days as well
Ever think of converting to cng gas..
It had cross my mind but I like my trunk space and don’t want to be in a gas station almost every day, lol
The gas prices in Trinidad is more expensive than the USA imagine that
Yup, as every year the government keeps removing part of the subsidiary on gas, and we are still cheaper than the rest of our Caribbean peeps
Very interesting vlog - unfortunately cost living is rising around the world - it is actually affecting everyone world-wide - is it because of high demands for limited supplies or the war in Ukraine/ Israel/Hamas - who knows - Rajeev thank you
You’re welcome and yeah it is, I’m still glad some of our food stuff here is relatively cheaper than say when I visit the states, but I think we really need to invest more in our agriculture sector
It's caused by the greed of Capitalists. There is no such thing as a truly free, "free market"
Nice
Thanks 🙏🏽
What a realistic video. But honestly it shows how difficult it is budgeting our salaries and save. Just like you gas digs in the most
Most definitely and yeah this one was on a personal level
God boi things expensive here we cannot afford lime lemon eggs an plantains or coconut etc crime inflation an unemployment
Gotta start back growing by them things
Think about if you hv kids in school lunches snacks allowance transport lessons 😢
Yup, the price will add up to even more, especially if one is a single parent
You doing like me and using a fan instead of AC to keep the bill down.
Yup, although there are days when the fan and all your windows open isn’t enough
Are those USD?
Negative, for the most part it would be TTD, I think I would have put in the USD equivalent in the video, but it’s $1 USD = $7 TTD
The gas taking all your funds. You better start hopping on a ptsc bus to Port of Spain and back on quiet days.
lol, yup, if it was just too and from work, it would normally last me the week, but cuz I go extra to record content, it takes more
@@TrinbagoVibes
I respect how you control your electric bill.
An electrician once told me if you want to save on electricity, minimize heating appliances.
Water heater, clothes dryer, electric stoves, electric cooking appliances......
Welp, I'm definitely doing something wrong. My last light bill was 1,300 something (alone). 🤣
Too much A/C units running 👀
@@TrinbagoVibes Well I work from home, so it has to run all the time.
@@kurtnelle could always open up the windows and door and let the air flow, hopefully you have an inverter
@@TrinbagoVibes Yea, they are all inverter types. I used to have the room open, but by 2pm it would be so hot in the dry season, that I would start to get dizzy.
(Repectfully, Repectfully "did you know?") You basically habitually demeaning yourself by putting premium fuel in a vehicle that was design for regular, meanwhile you put cheap artifical junk food into your only real vehicle (your body) which was actually design for premium. Next time try your best to add some nutrient rich foods like seasonal fruits , this way you can protect yourself for the upcoming dementia pandemic .😢😢
Ihu 👍🏽👍🏽
Things in Trinidad expensive....I have 4 daughters still at school renting and doing dialysis, resign my job being sick it's a different situation
Wow, praying for you to get better and yeah our cost of living is relatively high
$1337.60 to US is under $200 so far
That’s true
You don't need your employer to educate you about planning. You just need to use your common sense!
Which is not so common and based on the experience in the environment you grew up in
Good thing you don't smoke
Yup, never have and never will, although I’ve had a serious amount of second hand In the earlier periods of my life, lol
What do you know about Halloween! Keep your culture. Do not copy others.
We are influenced by the world around us, more so the USA than any other country, and while I do intend to keep our culture alive, one hand can’t hi-5
