- What are the cheapest Caribbean islands to live in? Can you live on $1,500 or less per month in the Caribbean?
This video will answer those questions and much more, and guess what, you will be shocked when you see which island is at no1.
The Caribbean is made up of more than 700 islands, reefs, and cays, which are organized into 30 territories including sovereign states, overseas departments, and dependencies. Many of these territories speak English, French, Spanish, or a local Creole dialect but the question remains is which one is more affordable for visitors?

Thank you for the info… I tell ya, I’m ready to get out of the states!!!
I say, buy a piece of land, it doesn't have to be acreage. A fair size lot is enough to grow your own and go off grid on your choice of island.
Panama should be on the list st no. 1.
Jamaica is very expensive.
Great video on retirement planning! It's amazing to learn about the top 10 cheapest Caribbean islands where one can retire comfortably on under $1,500 per month. Thanks for sharing such valuable insights!
A decent 2 bedroom Apt in Kingston is running close to 1500US in a gated secure community. Jamaica is nice but more expensive.
If you are only looking in kingston then ultimately, it will be more expensive especially if you are looking in the more affluent areas. If you widen out a bit, you will find more affordable accommodation.
I lived in Montego Bay and it is very expensive. Grocery is very expensive and eating in restaurants is super expensive too.
@acarol13 it's the same in Kingston. Everything is extremely expensive
Yes very over priced. You get more in Africa Ghana for instant you can buy land and build. Check out migrant crossings in channel is amazing I’m thinking to retire there within the next 3 to 5 years and I’m Jamaican born living in New York upstate very expensive
Cheap or expensive Jamaica is where I will be!
Jamaica for me too no matter the prices ❤️❤️❤️🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Expensive.
When thinking about retirement, I always consider the quality of healthcare. Any info on that?
Great information, Akexx. Thanks you. ❤❤❤
Learn Spanish and move to a spanish speaking Caribbean or south American country, Jamaica and other english speaking ones overpriced and gives you very little in return.
Don't really have to learn Spanish all the time
I don't want to learn Spanish
@@catherinesterling1685Well pay a premium for the same thing you can get in the Dr, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, costa rica etc.
Ghana Africa is even cheaper
Thank you for sharing! ❤😊
Antigua,St Lucea
Great information fam.
Happy belated New Year Alex. Keep up the good work. ❤
Amazing video by an amazing person, I enjoyed every second brother. Your so knowledgeable and well spoken, its an honor to watch your well put together video. ❤️
Great Job
Sir you need to verify your information about Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, i can personally tell you those numbers are wrong. Puerto Rico is more expensive than some US cities and i’m from the Dominican Republic.
I was just in Belize last week. It it not a Caribbean island but definitely Caribbean. Cost of living there seems reasonable. I would live there after visiting.
Very good information - especially for someone who's never visited these areas in the Caribbean.
Thanks for watching
Thank you for this information
Thank you. I enjoyed the video. Do you have video on residency requirements. My interest is in Jamaica, Curaco, and the Dominican Republic.
St Lucia would be one of my curious locations.
Perfect for my retirement plan! Living in the Caribbean for under $1,500 a month? Sign me up.
No mention of our neighbor 🇨🇺CUBA 🇨🇺
Why would you retire in Cuba. A communist country with a dictatorship
Yes King 👑 Alex keep up the good work for Jamaican people
Blessings and thanks for watching
I’m from Bermuda (the best and most beautiful island anywhere) but would love to semi-retire to a Caribbean island. Thanks for this list. I’d love more information on Antigua & Barbuda, St Vincent, and St Lucia.
Encourageing foreigners to move to your country makes life much more expensive for the natives. Cost of living goes up, rentals and buying homes become more unatainable, restaurants and supermarkets become more expensive because they start to only cater to the foreign pockets, no no no not good.😑😑
I would pay with Jamaican dollars not us money there’s a huge difference get residency and pay local prices which are a lot cheaper. My friend who’s American retired to Jamaica and got her house built and all she uses is Jamaica money when she convert it’s more
I would like to hear about the Virgin islands both British and US. Also St Vincent and the Grenadines. Thank you
It been a long time since Ive see you
GIVE AMERICA ITS FLOWERS FOR MAKING IT EASY FOR YOU TO MOVE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY WHEN YOU RETIRE TO A COUNTRY TO WHERE YOUR AMERICAN DOLLAR IS WORTH THE MOST MONEY GOD BLESS AMERICA😊
bless all the other countries the USA ripped off, destroyed their economies and overthrew their governments so that Americans ca have everything whilst others suffer.
Beautiful Jamaica 🇯🇲
JA is pricy
My husband was born and raised in St. Kitts; he will not consider anywhere outside of the Caribbean as an option for retirement. Ironically, all these places are on my list of places to live; Panama also made my list.
Puerto ricooo is #2 Noo wayyy! I would say out of all the island in the Caribbean I have visited PR is way way the most expensive country to live in or visit!
Good List. I chose The Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico or Panama.
Im a electrician and trying to seek opportunities outside jamaica to but uncertain of the development in the electrical and renewable field demand ie the construction field
I went to quite a few carribean country and Dominica is cheaper. I went to Grenada recently all I bought was spices every thing was very expensive .I am just back from Dominica and I bought a lot of things that is way cheaper than my country.
Real estate investment rather than renting that is what am interested in
You have toso see who has the best health care
My man said "Eltcare..."😄
Appreciate the info. To Be constructive, your intro was approx 3:30 to get to the meat of the information…. Seems you could have done it in less than a minute…. I stopped watching at minute 5…
Not trying to be negative… just suggesting you be more concise with into, getting to the meat 🍖 and potatoes 🥔 quicker to hold your audience … 😊
Jamaica tops the chart as the murder capital of the world currently. And most of the countries on this list are very high on the murder capital rate.
Dominica is quite cheap and has a much lower crime rate
What about Panama?
Although I don't agree with some of your content, some places that you mentioned are just as dangerous to live as the USA.
There is no place on the earth more dangerous than America
600 mass shooting last year are you kidding me
Jamaica or Puerto Rico are my choices. I haven't fully decided.
13:30 rent for a single bedroom apartment should only cost about $400 usd tbh. And groceries for a single person is about $130-150 usd
Nassau Bahamas
Dominica is nice
St. Kitts
Maybe the saying that you get what you pay for, then you didn't account for things like safety, crime, hurricane paths, etc. There are countries you mentioned that are not safe, drug and law problems, etc.
I wonder if you ever went to the carebean at all. Trinidad is much cheaper than Grenada in every aspect apart from alcohol prices. The ABC islands are generally very expensive compared to the windward islands. Dominica is great when you like fruits and vegetables but Grenada offer basically nothing home grown.
What do you mean by Grenada doesn't offer anything home grown. Don't be so stupid. Grenada have many farmers and grow lots of fruits and vegetables and ground provisions I.e. yam and bananas and potatoes etc. Do your research before making inaccurate statements.
You haven't been to Trinidad recently. Or you only researched but not experienced it.
Is that good or bad?
🇯🇲💕🇯🇲💕🇯🇲💕🇯🇲💕🇯🇲
I am Jamaican living in US. Please tell me where you can get a safe place, hot water, and AC for US$600/month. Thanks
Alex, I'm truly surprised to see Jamaica on your list. Wow.
Hey thanks for being here, its been a while, are you really surprised to see Jamaica?
@@EliteJamaica bless up. Kaanah leave yuh out man. Those posts about unliving was too much for me, sorry. But c'est la vie.
YES, yes I am serious🙂 With all the recent news about the high cost of living in 🇯🇲 Jamaica, I started making terms with -40⁰C winters😭😭😭. Other islands are nice to visit but, no wie nuh betta dahn yaad😉😊. Thanks for giving me hope again.
I am planning to retire an go guyana it's very very economical. My friend lives there I spent three months with her would you believe she spent $100,000 an less per month ($500US)that include rent .food transportation plus misc.
I can live in Jamaica for $1500 US dollars…
Grenada...an island I want to visit at some point, Angella too, but my second home is Jamaica regardless.
Tortola
Let’s go to Grenada
I don't think Grenada's figures are lower than SVG.
But can you play golf in Granada?
I have to move to Granada 😂❤
Yes you have. I was born there.
What about st vincent
Antigua,
It is pronounced Gre-nay-dah.
You are a West Indian and don’t know that?
Dominica is not that cheap. I lived in Portsmouth 2006-2008 and I paid $880 USD (That was one of the moderately priced apts) for a one bedroom, one bath and my grocery bill was closer to $400-$500/month. I am positive prices did not sharply decrease after approx. 16 yrs.
This is coming from someone who's born and raised in dominica. U only need $1300 usd per month to live here.
i am thinking about living in the islands but how offen does these islands have hurricanes , that ois really my only concern
Every year there is a chance of getting a hurricane but you will rarely get anything above a tropical storm
Trinidad and Tobago
What about crime rate in these islands
You’re talking rent how about buying a home or making your own home?
I am Canadian and I Want to retired in carribbean Island
Money burns in JA these days
The rent prices for Barbados is inaccurate
What is it?
@@cindyfields5170 a decent place will cost between $1200 to $2500 USD
Check your facts before you talk i spent six months down there rent is Kingston is between 1.300 us 1.500 us food prices are very high
You spent six months, but I live here
You can get a place for 300 up or less if you plan to share amenities
We dont want too much people in Grenada. Lets be quiet 🤫 about my home country.
Why's talking about US currency US is not the only currency
As long as they stay out of Grenada 🇬🇩 .
Eh is weed legalized in Jamaica?guyana is my birth country and I would retire there. I have to look out for arm robbery but I can get a legal firearm.
And Jamaican don’t allow the locals on the beaches smfh
There are so many beaches in Jamaica that locals can still go. The beaches owned by the resorts are mostly private
GRENADA.. Gruh-nah-dah! Really? That’s in Spain. Please pronounce it always as Gre-nay-dah please sir. And while it is probably the nicest place to retire to, healthcare is not that good and groceries are not cheap as they import almost everything !
no mention of crime or personal safety.
do u need to own in a gated community?
what about corruption?
these r all important factors esp if u want to invest
Didn't you hear about the corruption in America
I think black Americans are leaving because of racism and police brutality
Please go to the point. No man. It's boring.content.
Or you could kindly move on to another video.
Grenada Grenada Grenada the spice island of the Caribbean .🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩
I'm Jamaican living here in the United States, but I'm going to purchase a house in St kitts
Very nice. I’m Jamaican living in the states too and I’m going to build a house in West Africa Ghana. A lot of Jamaicans and Americans have migrated there. Land is cheap very cheap. You can by a 2 bedroom house for under 50,000. Plus you pay them in there money currency and it works out cheaper.
Great information fam.
