I've never heard of adding squeezed lemon juice to homemade chicken noodle soup and I'm66 yrs old. What does it do for the soup if you don't mind me asking?
It adds a bit of acidity and brightens the flavor a bit! You’re not really looking to give it a lemon flavor, just to enhance and brighten the flavors in the soup! I just squeeze a Tbsp or 2 from 1/2 of lemon!
Hope the kids get better soon. I know they appreciate your soup and all of the other loving things you're doing to care for them. I'm a celery lover. I'll eat it plain, with peanut butter, with cheese, etc. As I've gotten older, I've found that the meat is my least favorite part of soups, stew, and even pot pies. I guess I'd be making vegetable noodle chicken soup, lol. As always, appreciate spending time with you in the kitchen. Thank you!
I made chicken noodle soup last week and when my 13yo son came in and said “yes!!! You made chicken noodle soup” oh my heart!! ❤ Still always learning a new way of a great staple is fun!! That looks delicious!😊
Hello and greetings from NYC. We always add a small piece of parmigiana cheese rind and a splash of either ketchup or tomato paste ( about a teaspoon) to the broth for extra flavor to our chicken soup.
Looks delicious! I've not had canned chicken noodle soup in years! I also cheat and use a jar of Zoup chicken bone broth. I sauté my chicken in the olive oil first, then add all the other items. Now I'm hungry!
Sounds delicious - I agree about celery, it adds a lot of flavor to so many dishes. Sounds like your dad could have been a good taste tester with you. Thanks Zach!
I can’t wait to make this because anytime we were sick my Mom always made us chicken noodle soup 🥣. It just makes you feel better. We were snowed in this weekend and I made taco soup and it was good! I’m in middle Tn and we got several inches of snow on Friday and Saturday. Hope everyone is feeling better in your house. Thanks for sharing!
I am definitely going to make this recipe you make great vlogs I look forward to your posts and it is so much appreciate the time you take to answer us,it really means alot take care your family is fortunate to have such loving parents🥰
Chilly here in New York and this looks and sounds like it would hit the spot!!! Yum gotta make some thanks Zack …keep safe and warm and hope your adorable Kiddos are feeling better. Hi Whitney ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Wow Zach that looks amazing..perfect weather for it there..and even a little cool here..only time of the year we eat soup.. I've got to try rolling up my bulk herbs...wonderful idea...I never eat celery except in soup or chicken salad..I have always done like your sweet momma and cooked chicken and saved broth for soup...and wow...I need a pan like that this old lady has a had time with the heavy ones...as always wonderful video...looking forward to the next one...hope everyone is feeling better...enjoy that beautiful snow ❤
So glad you enjoyed it! I have an affiliate link in my Instagram bio that should save you a little bit if you choose to invest in an Emile Henry! You can also check them out at your local Williams Sonoma!
Hey Zach! I love the cutting boards! Where can I get them? I'm actually in the kitchen now following your recipe on my tablet. I've never used olive oil before making soup. GREAT idea. Hope the kiddos get well soon❤
Thanks so much! There are a few of my shorts that I have linked similar ones that I have seen! Mine came from Walmart or target on a sale but I’ve never seen it again or I would’ve bought another!
Side note..... How bout one of your talented construction bros make you some to use and sell here. You could have them put your logo on the top of the board. Just saying....
Pretty close to the way I make mine. I agree, go ahead and saute those carrots and onions for a few and get those flavors around your pan. Homemade soups can be so quick and easy. Haven’t bought any canned soup in over a decade because they’re all pretty easy to make and so much better when you do it yourself. I love to put a lid on whatever soup I make and set it on top of our wood stove to simmer all day. Great recipe Zach!
Thanks so much! I little squeeze of lemon can brighten it a bit and add a bit of acidity! You’re not necessarily adding enough to give it a lemon taste, just enough to enhance the flavors!
If you replace the chicken and chicken broth with beef tips and beef broth. It becomes Beef and noodle soup which is just as delicious! Great video! Enjoy the snow!
Can't wait to make this, I do make my own already but don't add everything you did. Def gonna try it. Hope kids feel better quickly and you & Whitney don't catch it.
Chicken soup has been a staple in our home since I married into a polish family they always had it once a week but with mashed potatoes added on top sounds crazy but it turns out crazy like a fox. 🤤🙌🥳🤗
That looks soooo good. I think if I cook it, I'll use boneless, skinless thighs. Much prefer the dark meat. And maybe add just a little butter. Butter makes everything better.
Yummy! Homemade chicken noodle soup is one of my faves! It's so easy to make and it makes you feel good all over. Hope your kiddo's get feeling better soon. God bless you and your family.
Love your recipes and stories! I have a family of 4 and wished I could plan ahead and cook several meals like mama B! Seriously like a family pack of chicken only feeds us 4 now! I will definitely be cooking this soup, this week! We’re snowed in right now in bama 🤣

Thank you Zach! Looks delicious. Would you please be able to tell me what kind of knife you use? What brand it is and do you have to sharpen it often? You could save this for a Q&A if you want to. Thank you! You gave me lots of good tips!

It is smilar to soy sauce but tastes better. I also put some of that in my soup. I agree with the pepper in the soup, but buttered french stick bread cut into slices with butter is the best to have with soup!
That’s so crazy! I actually had some French bread in a Wildgrain box with slow churned butter that we ate with it 😂 I should have gotten a picture of that as well!

This morning I took some chicken breasts out of the freezer for tomorrow. Now I know what I am going to make. I DO HAVE A QUESTION: How do you keep the scum from forming on the top when you cook with raw chicken? You lifted the lid to add the noodles, and there wasn't one bit of scum on top. I always have scum on the top that is hard to get it all. Thanks for another great recipe and the idea for dinner tomorrow.
Rinse your chicken and cut the fat off! Also cook at a simmer rather than a rolling boil to help reduce it. If you still get enough that it looks unsightly you can skim it off!

When making a big pot of soup for more than one meal, only add noodles to what you are using right away. Store the rest in the fridge or freezer without noodles and cook more as needed.
You'll always get more flavor out of roasted chicken. I prefer white meat only so I buy bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts and roast them in the oven and then spread them. Second best is shredding a rotisserie chicken.
I didn’t realize but the battery died a couple times. I did this one on my own since we have been through sickness and then the weather and I made some rookie mistakes. Sorry about that
Thank you for sharing this recipe!Home cooked meals beat any fast food restaurant! nowadays people forget how good home cooked meals/snacks are.
Couldn't agree more! Nothing beats a homemade meal.
Celery, onions, and garlic - the base for many dishes and great fragrance when cooking. Love the chicken noodle soup!!

Hello Zach. I love celery and peanut butter as a snack.

Hey neighbor!
Link to the apron?
I’m still working on some kinks in the design that aren’t my favorite!
Dumb question: What kind/brand are your cutting boards? With the raw chicken on there, do you wash with just hot water and Dawn or what?
I generally use an alcohol spray for my cutting boards, but even though I probably shouldn’t, I will wash them quickly with hot water and dawn soap after chicken and dry them immediately.
@ you are so kind to reply. Prayers for health for all your family!
Thanks!
When making a big pot of soup for more than one meal, only add noodles to what you are using right away. Store the rest in the fridge or freezer without noodles and cook more as needed.
Great tip, thanks for sharing!
I wish you would’ve mentioned if the noodles were cooked or not I can’t tell?
I put them in uncooked, and they cooked in the broth!
You'll always get more flavor out of roasted chicken. I prefer white meat only so I buy bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts and roast them in the oven and then spread them. Second best is shredding a rotisserie chicken.
Absolutely agree, there is more flavor in roasted chicken! I prefer the white meat only as well, but don’t mind mixing it up a bit with soup.
Just made homemade chicken noodle soup with noodles from the amish store
I wish we had an Amish store close!
Zach, I love your cooking videos, but I think your Mic has a short in it today.
