Kratos getting down to Brok's level to present the spear and Brok agreeing to the blessing is one of the greatest examples of character growth I've seen in a game. I thought the game couldn't top the Freya therapy session in Vanirheim and then it just keeps getting better. It's so well written.
I love that Odin is almost stutter-y in the way speaks, this seemingly unsure tone as an attempt to put people at ease and underestimate him. Odin's design is brilliant
For those who do not know, Draupnir, according to Norse mythology, is a ring that creates 8 copies of itself every 9 days. This is why it's stored in a room full of rings; its own duplicates. About the ring though, the reson why sindri hesitated to put it in the bag was because the ring releases telekinetic thoughts that influence the holder to keep it. its even more potent on dwarves.
The starting cutscene was so well done, according to Norse Myths the Norns are more of storywriters, which is why making Urd talk in first person, Verdandi in third person and Skuld in Quotes just like a written story was so fucking clever.

Something I just realized is that Odin’s portrayal is a textbook example of an abuser. He showers people with gifts and kindness, until they disappoint him, which makes him lash out, but quickly beg for forgiveness. You can even see it in his conversation with Kratos where he’ll say something rude and be like “I’m sorry you didn’t deserve that”
I think if someone sees all instances of slights against them, real or perceived, as abuse, they'd be more inclined to call the people around them abusers more often. That being said Odin does have that Small business owner narcissitic father god (literally) complex you see with owners of car dealerships so often.
Yes, he is a legitimate abuser. Last episode his portrayal gave me such bad chills. Very impressive how accurate it is to real life, incredible acting and dialogue
The part where Kratos asks Brok to bless his spear gave me the feels. "It needs the blessing of a great blacksmith" "It is the nature of a thing that matters. Not its form." Considering how Kratos treated Brok from the last game til now shows Krato's respect for his craft and abilities, and also his gratitude for Brok's help.
One thing I have noticed about Kratos is that he does not speak much but when he does speak, his words are chosen carefully and precisely. When he speaks, you better listen because he has important things to say.
Didnt they already know that? Didn't Sindri say that's why they were shunned? Because Brok was dead but Sindri brought him back and the other dwarves wanted nothing to do with that.
@@Sethoffgrid ahhhhhhhhhhh I forgot abt that part my bad you're right. But still, it's a nice touch, especially since Mimir and Kratos picked up on it.
I think it's really cool that Kratos carries such a diverse arsenal from different times in his life: Blades from an enemy. An axe from a lover A spear from a friend.
Blades to symbolize killing the enemy An Axe to symbolize love going through obstacles like how an axe chops through wood A Spear to symbolize the straightforward of friendship
To be fair, the fact of prophecy being so unclear, as well as Tyr’s blatant disregard for violence made it (to me at least) obvious that if a god of war leads a battle, it would be Kratos, since that is his thing, made even more obvious by the Norns
My favorite part about the Norns is that when Freya tells Skuld "shut up", Skuld actually respects her wishes and stops preempting her words... but not Kratos's, because he didn't ask her to.
It kinda makes me wonder if she is capable of speaking her own words? Or can she only speak the words of others? Sounds like a strange and sad existence.
I think Skuld chips in whenever she wants to disrupt their callers' train of thought. Having someone echo your words as you speak them is _supremely_ distracting. It's all part of the show the Norns put on.
For those who don't know: Mimir told a brief story of a nimph from his homeland named Nimue. Nimue is the legendary *"Lady of the Lake"* that forged *Excalibur.* This part is just a theory but, Mimir spoke very fondly of Nimue. In the legend Merlin and Nimue had a brief romance. I'd say that it's entirely possible that Mimir is Merlin.
not just that, last game mimir mentioned he traveled from his mistakes in another land like kratos, then during the norn visions the fake sigurd mentioned tatania, queen of the fey. and now we have confirmation mimir was once known as Puck
You gotta imagine the pain Mimir must feel when Kratos dies, since he always dies falling backwards... right on top of him, and he can't dampen the impact.
It's good to know I'm not the only one that thinks about that 😂 I do enjoy just watching him bob around as kratos walks. Just bouncing all over the place.
I mean it's even said that they don't hold the power like the fate sisters do. So even if Kratos has a reason to kill them (aka to save atreus) it would be down to useless because they don't seemed to hold the power to influence fate itself
Mimir can’t guess Brokks riddle because it’s too simple for his brain, he’s so used to abstract thinking and being the most intelligent man in all 9 realms that something as simple as “A hole” is far too simple minded for him
Indeed. Sometimes the easiest answers are the hardest to reach. Kinda like a riddle game type thing we play in the scouts when annoying newbies. You roll some dice and ask the person how many polarbears are sitting around the ice weak fishing? Then enjoy as they can't figure out the answer
@@trickydips Well Mimir being the smartest man in the universe would struggle to understand anything that wasn’t an abstract concept. My answer makes more sense with the plot. It also doesn’t really matter, so don’t get weird about it
That’s the line that cemented this game’s intelligence in my mind. At it’s core, it’s about killing gods, and always has been, there’s just more emotional weight
Think about it. The tapestry isint gonna portray Tyr. It’s gonna portray kratos. The spear. And now he’s going to kill heimdal getting the gjallarhorn. It shows a warrior with a spear and horn
Felt like a bit of meta commentary tbh. Kinda like, "Yeah, this is a God of War game; what the Hel do you actually expect from it? There is a script to the game, sure, and you can call that 'destiny' if you want, but as long as we who make the game are free to make choices about where that script should be headed, there need not be such thing as 'destiny'. But if things are ever to deviate from following the same predictable rails, the formula may have to change in a more substantial way."
It's a pretty obvious commentary on people's reactions to god of war 2018 I guess, not really that deep. The norns are basically a red herring anyway, not substantial to the story in any manner.
At the part where Brok was asking for a blessing, I just noticed that Kratos bowed slightly to the Lady. He thanked her but didn't ask to have it blessed. He wanted Brok's blessing
god I didn't even notice that - it really shows his character, how he favours a blessing of one he holds close rather than the Lady whom he had just met!
Kratos asking for the blessing from a great blacksmith almost made me tear up, especially with Brok's reaction and the wording of his blessing. May that spear strike Odin through his other eye!
I have to admit he does portray the character very well. At first I was al little upset, not with the voice but with the model but its grown on me. It also plays into the weaker cowardice and narcissistic nature better. I'm glad that it's what they went with.
He reminds me of Jafar from Aladdin. Silver tongued and sweet as honey, but will stab you in the chest with a smile on his face to achieve his ends with a snap of his fingers
@@captainleonox3818 It also shows the contrast between the Greek and Norse gods. Most of the Greek gods were muscular - think Zeus, Poseidon, Heracles, &c.. Even some of the more minor gods like Hephaestus were still physically imposing and even Hermes was bigger than your average guy. By contrast, the Norse gods aren't muscular. The only real exception to my knowledge is Thor, but even then he's built like a strongman and not a bodybuilder. Odin, Heimdall, and Baldur are all thinner and Baldur even looks a little emaciated.
Kratos saying "I am no one's champion but his" about Atreus made me smile so hard... Kratos truly loves his son with his entire being, it's so lovely to see how much he cares and EXPRESSES that more freely. I want a dad who would say that about me 🥹🥹🥹
In case anyone is wondering, the upwards arrow the Lady formed with Kratos' blood is the symbol of the spartan army, which is why when she applied it into the spear it manifested into a spartan battle standard
Him asking Brok to bless the spear was so beautiful, and him turning Brok's own words against him. "It is the nature of a thing that matters, not it's form" nearly made me cry
he knelt down to him as well. Kratos doesn't say thank you often but he knows to show it when it counts. He's also getting genuinely kinder as the series progresses. Learning from others, even the side quests- I'm hoping for a scene where he's genuinely soft and affectionate with Atreus at the end of this. Being more in touch with his father side instead of his war general side.
@@brooklynapeterson Ooohh we'll definitely get the father side, buddy! And I can't wait for Jack to see it, as well. Have a feeling he might spill a tear or two
@@brooklynapeterson it's something i've noticed. Atreus was drawn to Sindri. Sindri would help Atreus lie to Kratos and help Atreus sneak around. Meanwhile Kratos appreciate's Brok because he's completely honest. he's probably the only one who never keeps anything from Kratos in the journey and I think he appreciates that a lot.
He did also have quite a few followers at his height of being the god of war. During his conquest he led Sparta across all of Greece. Not sure if they counted as worshippers, but still
Seeing Kratos be kinder to his allies and friends makes my heart happy. Also him calling Mimir by his name instead of just 'head' as well and sort of kind of bantering with everyone? Ya love to see it. Also A SPEAR, YEESSSS PLEASE!!! Gods I want this game so bad.
"To protect Atreus. I am no one's Champion but his." OKAY THAT'S FINE I DIDN'T NEED MY HEART ANYWAY, DON'T MIND THE TEARS ROLLING OUT OF MY DAMN EYES AFTER THAT PRECIOUS MOMENT
Kratos wanting Brok to do the blessing for the spear and calling him a great blacksmith says so much about their friendship. Kratos truly thinks of him as a very close friend
And Kratos respects Brok. They both speak their minds plainly, so Brok doesn’t have to fear that Kratos' words are platitudes said only to distract him. This is one of the scenes that made me ugly cry.
I feel like we have to get that at some point. Since I don't have the game all my knowledge is coming from this playthrough, so I won't know til it happens, but I look forward to it.
Well, a bit of both. "If he tries to talk to the Lady, he'll realize his soul is incomplete because he died and I only managed to resurrect 75% of him."
That scene with the Norns is phenomenal! As I was watching it I realized each of their dialogue is written from the three different narrative points of view. One is a narrator speaking from a 3rd person perspective about the events transpiring, one speaks at the same time as the characters, which is basically being in 1st person, and the other speaks directly to them as another participant in the events, which is 2nd person. Props to everyone who worked on that scene (honesty, to everyone who worked on this whole game), that's such a cool way to write the dialogue for omniscient fates.
They felt very meta. The things they said, too, about scripts and destiny, felt like they leaned heavily on the 4th wall. But will things deviate in a more significant way than "[Kratos] still slays gods, but now he’s sad about it?"
I'm still a little disappointed he didn't end with killing them... I know he had no reason to kill them it just seems like the thing to do. When you talk with all seeing future telling gods you kill them after.
@@totower9597 That would be completely useless and entirely antithetical to the whole point of the story. Also it makes no sense. They aren't threatening anyone, there's no reason to kill them.

One thing I LOVED about the Norns, was the fact that they themselves followed the archetype for many interpretations/embodiments of fate found in so many different cultures. The Maiden, The Mother and The Crone. It really makes them feel so familiar yet still so otherworldly and so menacing in such a subtle way that the whole time you're with them, you are just so on edge. So, so good. And then the way the characters play RIGHT into their hands, simply based on a few key statements the Norns make. Fate may not be pre-written, but you can't deny that the Norns don't enjoy preying on the nature of those they interact with and influencing them and their choices.
I think you’re right, they do enjoy it but I also think they more so find it really amusing that everyone, be they mortal or god, who seeks them out intends to change/deny fate but because they act so “predictably” (in the Norn’s own words) they end up crashing headfirst into the very fate they meant to avert. That in trying so hard to change things they choose the path that leads them exactly where it was predicted they’d end up because in trying to change fate they don’t change themselves/their nature. It’s almost like a poker game/chess game with the universe where to win you have to ignore bluffs that look like they’d win you the game and play outside the box or opposite of your normal style. The way the Norns describe it I think it’s legitimately a perfect example of divine/cosmic irony. The Norns don’t even really HAVE to do or say anything. Even as they tell them those tidbits about the future they straight up say that the characters acting “predictably” or in the nature they would usually react will lead them to the fate they wish to avoid. Everyone just chooses to ignore that in favor of the other information the Norns are giving. Now that I’m thinking about it It’s like confirmation bias on steroids LMAOOO
Like.....they literally make it pretty damn plain that THERE IS NO FATE. It's just that everyone is so damn predictable they always do what the Norns say they will.....not because there's no free will, but because you're all incredibly, boringly predictable. And the best part, the very best part, is that *Kratos, Freya and Mirmir completely fucking ignore all of this and act entirely predictably* as the Norns flat out said to their big, stupid faces. It's simultaneously infuriating to watch them do it, and yet the entire damn point.
The infant dragon collecting sidequest is basically just Kratos helping Ratatosker become a Dragon type Gym Leader, he's even putting them into a Poke Ball!
"Or rather, did they?" That right there was the real Odin. He slipped, only for a few seconds, but he slipped. And then he back-pedalled so hard he stuttered. What a fantastic actor
Can I ask, what do you mean by "the real Odin"? Why does him slipping show his true nature? Sorry if it was obvious. Am genuinely curious and thank you so much for pointing his stuttering out! I love looking at all the details this game has:)
@@anisgilos It's because Odin's whole shtick is to seem amicable. You hear about all these terrible things he'd done, but when you meet him, he acts so...nice. You know he's evil, but it's hard to believe he's the same guy you heard about. But that little moment right there, that slip-up, that's the real Odin. All those pleasantries are just to get inside your head. He's trying to be so reasonable with Kratos, appealing to his desire to avoid war, but him mentioning the fall of Olympus makes it clear that Odin doesn't care about peace. He just wants control, and Kratos is a threat.
Imagine if the Norns were narrating all of Jack's playthrough...even the glitches. "It was at this moment that Kratos reached out his hand, expecting Stormbreaker to meet it as it always did...but the weapon never came, its existence having long since plunged out of Midgard and into some realm unknown by mortal or immortal alike. "'Atreus.' He spoke, his gruff demeanor attempting to play off the situation. 'High five me.' Atreus stared off into space, taking no regard of his father's extended hand. "Sean burst into laughter...and tears."
Wow I cannot believe it. Kratos asking Brok to bless the weapon and him saying, "It is the nature of a thing that matters. Not its form." right back to him made me tear up. Kratos has had one of the greatest character arcs in any game series I've seen.
@@Nick-fb9uq damn near broke my heart when Mimir told Brok and then Kratos performs one of his most noble and humble acts ever and bows before his dwarf friend and asks him to bless his weapon. The entire scene had me swallowing a lump in my throat.
That moment had me screaming with tears He really cares for those 2 dwarfs Their relationship is like Atreus and sindri they both trust each other alot
Jack's comment on the whole encounter with the Norns was spot on. I love that they effectively provided a meta-criticism of the entire franchise and Kratos' role in it. Also, noting how short it was, I'm pretty sure that was the point. Nobody leaves satisfied, not even the players!
Odin is probably one of the best written bad guys I’ve ever seen. Every time he’s come on screen thus far even *I* want to believe him. Wonderful performance on all sides
Yeah. His greatest danger is that he doesn't look, sound and even feel dangerous. Only your rational thought *may* separate you from his snares. May - because even your rational mind can play a trick on you and make you think that you just can't win. He sounds, looks and feels like a chill old man you would be glad to be around, *but* at the back of your mind there is an understanding of how dangerous the person in front of you is
my favorite thing about this game has to be kratos' journal entry. Because of how little he speaks and how short his sentences are when he does speak it paints him as almost like a meathead, but reading his journal entries you see that kratos is actually quite smart, and it makes me see him a lot differently, less like a beefed killing machine and more of an intelligent being.
I’m aware his past as a Spartan did require him to be literate and he is tactically smart. So not a meathead, yes, but we know how much his rage blinds him and that’s what people tend to remember him for.
The way kratos drops to one knee and ask for a blessing. He had full faith in him and gave him comfort and confidence by asking such a thing from him. And the way brok spoke the blessing. It was from the heart and beautiful
Kratos comforting his friend because Brok just found out his brother has been lying to him all this time and he knew he needed comfort has STOLEN MY HEART.
Kratos isn't a sociopath. He likes making people feel better, just like any normal person. It's just that all his training and life experience is around killing things (up to and including gods), so if the problem at hand can't be solved by killing something, he might be at a loss. Still, you're right - it was good to see Kratos find a non-killing solution to something.
“I’m no one’s champion but his” broke my heart a little :,) he would quite literally do anything for Atreus, even if it means putting their relationship in a difficult position
1:53:07 Jack missed a pretty big King Arthur reference here. Nimue was the name of the Lady of the Lake, the Fae entity responsible for raising Lancelot like a son and both forging and gifting Arthur with Excalibur... hence the "talented with a sword" line. Calling her a lake nymph is their way of keeping it from being too obvious.
Mm yeah there's a lot of references that state that mimir was from England before he came to midgard. He was called Puck and robin goodfellow in both games, and sigrun referred to Titania, the Queen of A midsummer nights dream.
The axe, twin blades, a frickin soul reaver blade, and now an infinite spear. This game just keeps getting better. This playthrough, specifically your playthrough, has been an absolute joy to watch.
I think one of the best things in the new games is how they use his theme in very specific moments where parts of his old self shines through like if you looked at his face during that scene you could see he wanted to kill them but he knew that it would not change anything because unlike the fates from greek mythos they don't have the power to control fate. Also the Odin scene where his theme also came through and you could see Odin got scared
HAHAHHAA that Brok impression at 1:02:25 was so good hahaha. Also, for Jack and anyone else who was wondering, the symbol after the omega at 1:07:34 is the Greek letter lambda, and it was put on Spartan shields.
@@trevorminton6084 From Wikipedia: In politics, the lambda is the symbol of Identitarianism, a white nationalist movement that originated in France before spreading out to the rest of Europe and later on to North America, Australia and New Zealand. The Identitarian lambda represents the Battle of Thermopylae. The Battle of Thermopylae (/θərˈmɒpɪliː/ thər-MOP-i-lee; Greek: Μάχη τῶν Θερμοπυλῶν, Máchē tōn Thermopylōn) was fought in 480 BC between the Achaemenid Persian Empire under Xerxes I and an alliance of Greek city-states led by Sparta under Leonidas I. I found the part when kratos asked brock to bless the weapon extremely powerful and emotional, the respect kratos shows and uses brocks own words to him mixed with the music is just amazing. By far one of my favourite cutscenes from the whole game.
I love how many arguments there are in this game. How the characters all feel like real people, who say something, and either choose to stand by it, or recognized that they've said something impulsive and shows regret over it later. It's so realistic and immersive!
In the myths, Draupnir was a magical golden ring crafted by Sindri and Brok for Odin. It spawned nine copies of itself every nine days. Fortunately, the copies didn't themselves multiply.
Of all the characters in this game I never thought Brok would get me tearing up That was a beautiful moment between him and Kratos, and Kratos himself came a long way man.
One Fate talks directly to them, the Second talks of what they do as though she were reading stage directions, and the Third quotes them while they speak. Don't ask me why, but I find them severely cool.
With Mimir being referred to as 'Puck' and referencing Scotland so many times, I hope we delve into Celtic mythology in the next game. That would be pretty interesting and not overdone in games lately.

The Fates are my favorite characters in this game so far. They're whole premise is like writing their message on a sign, placing the sign right in front of your face, and then saying, "And you STILL can't read it, can you?"
These aren't the Fates like in Greece, in Nordic Methology these are the Norns and they already know people's choices as they just straight up for shadow things to come already, the Fates from Greek Mythology literally were drunk with power and wanted Kratos to basically die, the Norns did not say if he will actually die or not
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that he does the extra side missions and shows off extra unlockable gear and moves instead of rushing through the story
I dunno. There's too many side missions. We end up getting drip fed the main story and drowning in side quests. We barely got through any of the story in this 2 hour playthrough. The last episode was the same. Side quest galore.
Even if I skip a lot of it, particularly just combat that's to side quest destinations (and homing in on the convos inbetween), I do like the slow nature. Makes each moment that's the main story progression feel very significant. It's not like the side stuff is bad, certainly building up and building the world/characters.
The norn cutscene was a lot of fun to write I bet. They speak in present tenses and say other characters' lines so I wonder how this scene looked in the script. The norns are probably just reading it out loud
Urđ: commentary Verđandi: stage direction Skuld: dialogue When Verđandi says "the curtains fall; _exeunt omnes"_ it's Shakespeare for "End of Play; EVERYONE leaves"
3:40 I'm surprised that nobody is talking about the literal confirmation by name that Mimir is Puck and not just through the stories Mimir tells. I find that absolutely amazing.
I had just rewatched a recap of Kratos' full complete story. His feats, his highs and lows, his ability to never give up no matter how dim the situation is(mainly because he had the power of hope inside him), his story was literally one of the coolest and most legendary stories ever. Like as a kid you'd read so many fairytales but his is so damn inspiring and beautiful, I really hope it doesn't end this way.
I think the "self aware wolves" thing is okay in this case, because Kratos understands the cost and is accepting of it. Like he recognizes that he'll be leading himself to his own death by going after Heimdall, but he'd rather do that than risk Atreus dying. And Freya is similarly self-destructive. It's only Mimir, who's focused on the bigger picture, who wishes they'd change their choices.
Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with what Freya says. She wants war yes. But her realm is already at war for ages. It's not so much starting a war, but winning it and stopping asgardian imperialism once and for all. Kratos' solution is way worse. For years, he hid in the woods training Atreus. The training is good. But it's also the same woods that Baldur found them in. As even Atreus said, he was being too passive. Not acting until the enemy was literally at his doorstep. It's a terrible strategy because it's a question of when, not if they find him. And when the enemy did come, he was taken by surprise and unprepared. If he thought more like a general, he'd know that surrendering first initiative to the enemy just allows them to further cement an advantage before they destroy them. Atreus wanted answers, on his prophecy, on Ragnarok. And he was right. Once Kratos followed him, he got more info to work with, more allies.
“I enjoyed your story kratos, pity it has to end so soon” hands down my favorite dialogue in the entire game. Best scene too, seeing the characters get toyed with and picked apart while the music kicks in
Kratos getting down to Brok's level to present the spear and Brok agreeing to the blessing is one of the greatest examples of character growth I've seen in a game. I thought the game couldn't top the Freya therapy session in Vanirheim and then it just keeps getting better. It's so well written.

I think if someone sees all instances of slights against them, real or perceived, as abuse, they'd be more inclined to call the people around them abusers more often. I think it's really cool that Kratos carries such a diverse arsenal from different times in his life:
Blades from an enemy.
An axe from a lover
A spear from a friend.
Blades to symbolize killing the enemy
An Axe to symbolize love going through obstacles like how an axe chops through wood
A Spear to symbolize the straightforward of friendship
A spear is also the first weapon a Spartan uses, so it is natural for Kratos to use the draupnir spear.

oh my goodness.
that HAS to be it!
Oh my god (of war) it makes so much sense now!
To be fair, the fact of prophecy being so unclear, as well as Tyr’s blatant disregard for violence made it (to me at least) obvious that if a god of war leads a battle, it would be Kratos, since that is his thing, made even more obvious by the Norns
Holy shit he was the god of war leading soldiers to war

My favorite part about the Norns is that when Freya tells Skuld "shut up", Skuld actually respects her wishes and stops preempting her words... but not Kratos's, because he didn't ask her to.
It kinda makes me wonder if she is capable of speaking her own words? Or can she only speak the words of others? Sounds like a strange and sad existence.
@@suzannamagnolia883 like Echo from Greek mythology
I think Skuld chips in whenever she wants to disrupt their callers' train of thought. Having someone echo your words as you speak them is _supremely_ distracting. It's all part of the show the Norns put on.

Mimir really has been around in his long lifetime.
not just that, last game mimir mentioned he traveled from his mistakes in another land like kratos, then during the norn visions the fake sigurd mentioned tatania, queen of the fey. and now we have confirmation mimir was once known as Puck

But if things are ever to deviate from following the same predictable rails, the formula may have to change in a more substantial way."

I noticed that as well when I first saw them. I like that.
Well said.

The scene where Kratos is walking out and the music gets dramatic and “Urõ: Pity it has to end so soon” best scene ever.
Yup
I think one of the best things in the new games is how they use his theme in very specific moments where parts of his old self shines through like if you looked at his face during that scene you could see he wanted to kill them but he knew that it would not change anything because unlike the fates from greek mythos they don't have the power to control fate. Also the Odin scene where his theme also came through and you could see Odin got scared
@YeaMan the dramatic music in that scene is better than the music on your "paige"
I love the tiny detail of only being able to get on the kelpie from the left side as that is proper horsemanship
HAHAHHAA that Brok impression at 1:02:25 was so good hahaha.
Also, for Jack and anyone else who was wondering, the symbol after the omega at 1:07:34 is the Greek letter lambda, and it was put on Spartan shields.
Did the lambda have a meaning of any kind or was it just a cool symbol?
Following
@@trevorminton6084 From Wikipedia:
In politics, the lambda is the symbol of Identitarianism, a white nationalist movement that originated in France before spreading out to the rest of Europe and later on to North America, Australia and New Zealand.
So basically it is somewhat associated with Sparta.

The "Need you to shut up" I also said that at the exact same time Jack said it, I didn't even realise he said it
When Brok says "Boy style" he refers to when Atreus ride on Kratos's back, when Kratos called him Boy

If ya dont already know jack the second symbol after the omega symbol used for the greek god of war(kratos in this universe) is the symbol of a spartan, traditionally the symbol is seen on all shields of spartans who serve in the army of Sparta, the symbols name is lambda which stood for Laconia or Lacedaemon and was first adopted in 420s BC, spartan military families would pass down their shields to each generation as family heirlooms, the more ya know! 😊

Are we just not gonna talk about how the developers did an outstanding job on the design of the mermaid..
Honestly big facts. That design looked so amazing. And the movement of her was so fluent just all around amazing amazing job done by the developers.
The mermaid reminds me a lot of the Silvari race from Guild Wars 2

"I'm no one's champion but his." YOU CAN'T KEEP DOING THIS TO ME GAME?? Atreus and Kratos' relationship is sooooo complex and well-written, it's insanely impactful.
I loved the part when Freya said "It's Skjalfin' time" and then just skjalfed all over the place
I also loved the part where Freya says “It’s Aukin time!”, and leaves to get milk from the Einherjar’s nipples for the rest of the spear sequence.

1:30:44 “to protect atreus. i am no one’s champion but his.” got me screaming and crying hhhhh . i think thats one of the lines that just captures where kratos’ mind and heart settles despite all thats happened (and is about to happen) and it shows again how much he loves atreus and how much his son has influenced and helped change him into the man, the god, and the father he is now that is able to say something like that 😭
It makes sense too, since Atreus called himself Loki of the Jotnar, the champion of him can be considered Champion of the Jotnar
Not to mention the mural see a warrior with multiple spears
god him being nice to brok was so heart wrenching
Yea rip brok 😭
That’s because he meant it he respects brok and what he does
They have an emoji of brok, it is this, 💀
I found the part when kratos asked brock to bless the weapon extremely powerful and emotional, the respect kratos shows and uses brocks own words to him mixed with the music is just amazing. By far one of my favourite cutscenes from the whole game.
I love how many arguments there are in this game. How the characters all feel like real people, who say something, and either choose to stand by it, or recognized that they've said something impulsive and shows regret over it later. It's so realistic and immersive!
Funny how jack was so determined to find the raven that he missed the fact that the treasure gave him 45000 hacksilver by the end
This drove me nuts
Especially cause he got so impressed by the mere 5000 earlier😂
45K??? Omg I didn't notice either lmao
When?
I hate the fact I saw the bloody bird and he ran right past it
In the myths, Draupnir was a magical golden ring crafted by Sindri and Brok for Odin. It spawned nine copies of itself every nine days. Fortunately, the copies didn't themselves multiply.
I thought it seemed familiar, plus the fact that Sindri has to check to make sure its he one that multiplies.
ohhhh that's why it's sitting in a sea of rings. that's funny
Is it secret? Is it safe?
It was also a gift to the gods in the same competition/batch gift giving to the gods that gave Mjolnir to Thor.
Makes sense why it's a perfect fit for making the spear
Since the spear in game replicates itself as well it's a perfect fit
Of all the characters in this game I never thought Brok would get me tearing up
That was a beautiful moment between him and Kratos, and Kratos himself came a long way man.
I never thought an interaction between a stoic god-slayer and a foul-mouthed blue man would make me tear up...
*Foul-mouthed blue short man
The Norns part gives me chills everytime, it’s so dope when the music kicks in 4:47
Yeah it really fits the whole “seers of all” concept but also the fact that they’re based on being storytellers. It’s so cool
One Fate talks directly to them, the Second talks of what they do as though she were reading stage directions, and the Third quotes them while they speak.
Don't ask me why, but I find them severely cool.
You did great in English class
With Mimir being referred to as 'Puck' and referencing Scotland so many times, I hope we delve into Celtic mythology in the next game. That would be pretty interesting and not overdone in games lately.
it would also be cool if the next games went into Egyptian mythology, since Kratos mentioned wanting to go in his journals.
@@cronchybo I thought that was Mimir’s monologue about wanting to go to Egypt? Since only friends and foes is read in Kratos’ view, and Mimir’s view is the lore and enemy descriptions, since that allows Kratos and Atreus to read that but of lore
@@cronchybo canonically, Kratos did go. I’m pretty sure those were Mimir’s musings.

Oh MAN, the feels of Kratos asking for Brok's blessing on the spear just made me well up with tears
The Fates are my favorite characters in this game so far. They're whole premise is like writing their message on a sign, placing the sign right in front of your face, and then saying, "And you STILL can't read it, can you?"
I love how after brok remarks how kratos seems familiar with a spear , he almost sounds excited to be like YEAH! It was my first ever weapon!!!
THAT WHOLE SCENE WITH BROK WAS WHOLESOME AF, I'M FUCKIN' CRYIN'
The scene between the Fates and Kratos was so beautifully written.
These aren't the Fates like in Greece, in Nordic Methology these are the Norns and they already know people's choices as they just straight up for shadow things to come already, the Fates from Greek Mythology literally were drunk with power and wanted Kratos to basically die, the Norns did not say if he will actually die or not
@@DanteMikial They did say he would die though, but that remains to be seen.

Man I love how jack does little impressions of Kratos here and there, it’s such a delight
You mean seán?
A lot of them also expand on the characters and their relationships as well, the Freya ones in particular.
No.
Yes and i love it!!!!
The norn cutscene was a lot of fun to write I bet. They speak in present tenses and say other characters' lines so I wonder how this scene looked in the script. The norns are probably just reading it out loud

You know it’s a good episode when in the first 20 minutes you hear Jack scream at mimir for telling him to use a shield 😂😂
Kratos asking Brok to bless the spear legitimately made me tear up. Kratos does show compassion to others who aren't BOY
“Maybe I could plug my controller into port 2” got me cracking up, Heimdall is the new psycho mantis
"i see that you play dad of boy 1, what remains of us part 2, & afterlife abandonment"
3:40 I'm surprised that nobody is talking about the literal confirmation by name that Mimir is Puck and not just through the stories Mimir tells.
I find that absolutely amazing.
I lost my damn mind when I heard that!!
Kratos is awesome👍💜
1:57:06 "In their attempt to spare the other, they both perished. There is a lesson there" Talk about a Chekhov's shotgun 🔫
Where have we heard this story before?
Wait, you know about that 😂
“I enjoyed your story kratos, pity it has to end so soon” hands down my favorite dialogue in the entire game. Best scene too, seeing the characters get toyed with and picked apart while the music kicks in
