- Charlize Theron is so much bigger than just a Hollywood star, the cameras and paparazzi never fully capture the warmth of her heart or amount of empathy she feels for the youth in South Africa.
South Africa has always been home to Charlize, it's in her blood and bones, which is why she started the 'Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project' (CTAOP), to support organisations that empower and educate the youth of South Africa. Fighting HIV/AIDS has been a big passion for Charlize. Her outreach project works with organisations to educate the youth and to have the important conversations that are not happening.
The key to fighting HIV/AIDS is in educating the next generation. CTAOP supports organisations that offer education through youth development. Thanks to successful projects with partner grantees such as HIVSA, the youth are becoming empowered and having meaningful conversations which in turn creates leaders for the next generation.
Good Things Guy was given an opportunity to discuss the growth of CTAOP with Charlize Theron in honour of the outreach projects 10th Anniversary. Along with the interview, we are also able to share an exclusive documentary showcasing the work that Charlize, CTAOP and the grantees have done over the past 10 years in South Africa. During her latest trip to South Africa, she was accompanied by Trevor Noah and Chelsea Handler who joined to meet the youth involved in the successful projects being run. You can watch the incredible documentary below.
Dont know how i ended up on this video but its worth 10 minutes of my life
Agreed.
I am so glad to see these two famous South-Africans using their influence to better South Africa by empowering these women and youth.
I hear Trevor speaking his native language if he wants to....he's home. Does or can Charlize speak it anymore?
@@safi.4537 she can, and she does...an interview on a late night show a while back she told a story of her mother and her speaking Afrikaans to each other in an airport here in the States, being a bit catty & getting caught by a man who turned around and spoke to them in the same language...it was cute.
Yeah.....but I'm slightly disappointed that Elon Musk isn't here though.
@Real talk I'm a white european from europe, but trust me there are people in Europe who love Africa and respect Africans. Many celebrities are just people and do good, unlike politicians. So next time open eyes and criticize politicians, They are the ones who bring misery, not actors. Actors don't start wars.
@Real talk this answer doesn't make you any better than those you mentioned
#respect to Chalrize, Chelsea and Trevor. You and everyone involved with your movement are a blessing.
As a South Africans i am proud of our celebs , All African have a piece of UBUNTU inside of us , no matter where we are in the world ,Africa is forever apart of us.
You’re stupid savages who destroyed what superior people made without any understanding or remorse.
Stay there, stupid savage.
Charlize, Trevor and Chelsea thank you. These young people will make the biggest change happen with your help.
You guys have my deepest RESPECT. alot of love from Afghanistan
Love to you Frodo from America.
Steve is that you?
This is what it means to be a celebrity. You use your humanity to celebrate causes that improve the lives if people. You bring so much attention to those causes that people's lives are improved.

Giving back to the people and the world when you "get there" 😏.
You've to be cut from a certain wood to be that way as a human being.
The world needs A LOT of people like Charlize Theron to do good!

Bless Charlene she is an angel! So true ! "Charlize Theron is so much bigger than just a Hollywood star, the cameras and paparazzi never fully capture the warmth of her heart or amount of empathy she feels for the youth in South Africa."
Chrelize Theron and Trevor Noah. Awesome individuals illuminating a long standing issue that needs critical attention. Best of luck in your endeavor!
God bless you Charlize, your work is amazing!
Ok but i also love Trevor ❤️
Started reading Trevor Noah's "Born a Crime" and learned a lot about the apartheid and wondered what Charlize Theron's story was as she grew up on the other side of it all. That's how I got to this video and it's so empowering to see Trevor and Charlize using their celebrity status in this way.
This is amazing, thanks to Charlize & the group May God bless them.
Beautiful to watch
Great work of CTAOP. All help is needed where people are hurting. The young woman, Sane, had an important point. Often we focus on the victim, when the biggest and most powerful change can come, if we are able to reach the abusers, those carrying out the violent acts. They need to change. If they do, there will be no victims. I wish the best for South Africa. Greetings from Scandinavia.
Trevor did a great documented vid in SA few months ago. Now this focuses on the beauty, spirit and opportunity of this country.
Wow!!! What an empowering video & Charlize.....man, shes doing God's work there with all the other people. And Trevor, thank you for being there as well. Good on ya mate!!
CTAOP exists since 2007! So much respect for human beings like these influential people who use who they are and their resources to make a difference. Gives you hope for mankind! THANK YOU!
I love this and also the support from Trevor and her homeboy cause just doing something with someone who understands where you're from and where you are and helps bring you up to do something so amazing...gret found guys ❤

Thank you Charlize❤️
This is so beautiful ❤️🇿🇦
Charlize Theron is an awesome woman and also beautiful woman! It goes to show that we shouldn't judge other people no matter their origin. She's Afrikaans by lineage. So I believe we should love all people.
Who is doubting her origin what has this video got to do with race that's not mentioned at all in this video.
Charlize is so beautiful. The one movie that I watched of her didn't do justice to her beauty. I love how they are empowering South African children.
God bless you.
True and genuine commitment by these fellow South Africans who do not allow wealth, privilege and celebrity status define them. The ability to invest their time and energy to change the lives of others for the better is a humbling human experience....keep up the good work.
I just love her.... Charlize

Truly inspiring. I wish every girl and woman there heard her, when she told them people don't have the right to treat them badly. We need to raise young women to really know that. Boys and men also.
Jy's 'n engel Charlize, dankie vir jou gee-hart

Charlize theron I never doubt about your beauty from inside to outside ,
You 're an angel on earth, I love you and I wish to see more people like you . May God bless you lovely woman.😘
Hi, how can l help, l want to get involved in my community, please let me know how l can become a part of this. Lynne
Mooi
It's great to see successful people not turning their back to the societies they come from. I remember Charlize meeting Nelson Mandela for the 1st time and the most emotional meeting between Madiba and a celebrity. This is when I knew That Theron had a golden heart. Trevor knows better about the ills of South African black townships because he was part of their struggle. My heart goes to Charlize for being a becon of hope to the young and vulnerable girls. The struggle for a free society continues.
BEAUTIFUL! :'(
It's truly inspiring but I wish we struggled for a world in which people contributed as generously to end poverty and sexual violence as they do to protect ancient relics. Sometimes I believe we're so fascinated by the lives of those who may have lived thousands of years ago that we no longer pay attention to the living who happen to be suffering. Trevor Noah and Charlize Theron are truly good examples to follow. Chelsea Handler, not so much.
Wow! Thank you Charlize and Trevor! So wonderful to see you helping our people. God bless you both.
Blessings 🙏🏻
I cried over and over and was empowered each time
Beautiful, every young woman needs safe space.

Wondering if there is anything similar for young men?
I've held on to $10,000 worth of computer networking gear and maybe $5,000 worth of books to maybe setup a school in SA. If anyone can help, please let me know. I am that stage in my life that I need to quit the rat race. I've even thought of buying a FAL rifle and becoming a park ranger. If no one in SA comes through, then I am just going to South America. I can't just ship it, I need the full-time job that comes with running the school.
Dear please what kind of help do you need i can link you to someone
@@nightmist2836 I will reply tomorrow, Monday. What is your time zone?
@@nightmist2836
OK, so I’m in my forties and need an exit strategy. Some societies have a lot of conveniences and services available to a significant part of the population. I happen to live in a US city like that, so compared to California, New York State and New York City are easier to survive. I have some idea about what is needed to keep a community and healthy and functional. That said, I am willing to keep my impact limited to a select group of people, namely helping young women avoid lives of poverty, abuse, and low education.
I quit my well-paid tech job for a sabbatical and to spend time with my niece and nephews. As it were, one’s family is not all that one thinks. I gave my niece specific instructions on learning the multiplication table. I showed her several RUclips channels that covered the topic using different memory tools, but at ten years of age, with the entire internet available at home, she has not applied herself. I tried to show her how to use power tools and become mechanically adept, but that too came to an end for other reasons. At a certain age, someone like me wants to give to the next generation, but we have no patience for unmotivated people. We despise stupid people and those who wish to persist in their ignorance. /¶ I know of youngsters in India who study by the light of street lamps at night. I know enough about how the world works on a macro level to be able to guide young ones on better decision making. But people like my niece have no sense of urgency. My sister doesn’t have the motivation or the time to teach her the most basic requisites for owning and taking care of a home. Something as simple as scheduling the chimney to be cleaned never gets mentioned, and yet homeowners die from carbon monoxide poisoning and chimney fires. I have a really good internal compass, but I seem unable to pass that on.
That said, I am willing to leave the United States and focus on helping others elsewhere. I can help others connect with ideas, and philosophies for self-improvement and success. I am willing to give the last decades of my life to a worth-while cause. I don’t want much and don’t need much, but I definitely don’t want to waste my time, be cheated, or end up stranded on another continent. I am partial to the Southern Hemisphere, so South Africa is of great interest. What do I need? A steady supply of 15-20 students whose parents are willing to help with the financial upkeep of a school and my salary. What will I do for their kids? Teach them to think and communicate like Westerners. I will make them excel at life. I will make them physically and mentally strong. Internally happy, and possessing self-control when it comes to sex, drugs, and alcohol. It will be a school about life, practical philosophy, surviving the 21st century, and life-long learning.
One more time so that it is clear, I would be walking away from tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in income here to set up a school in SA. I can get on a bus, train, or just walk to damn-near world class medical services. I would be taking huge financial and personal risks, but given good students and supportive parents, I am willing to go all the way. There is no sense of urgency here, and wasting my time is a form of letting myself be cheated.
@@marcosmota1094 ok Marcos sorry for the late reply i will get to you soonest
night mist Hello again, my work profile and resume are available on LinkedIn. No rush, but in the intervening days I’ve found more corroboration that it’s better for me to leave the United States. I have other options, but it’s easier to flesh out a plan if I know where I am going. I still need time to leave my family in good standing and to save money. One more thing, I sound pretty harsh in my opinions about young people, but they just have no sense of how much society is changing. From the highest corporate strata right down to street level, forces assail the individual and society at large. Reach me by email at marcos.mota@gmail.com. Here’s a local New York story that shows one of the worst oncoming changes: www.nydailynews.com/news/national/ny-cop-caught-on-tape-using-nword-20190510-jjldw7ox5bdf5i2a5fwj4d7deu-story.html
