Turbo hot side design. LOL. I’m not sure if I’m going to have it go in front of the engine with electric fans or around and up through the passenger side with mech fan. I’d like to keep my mech fan I think.
You do NOT need to change the engine crossmember. If you get the right mounts, the pan clears properly. The Advance Adapter adapter plates with factory clamshell mounts work mint for example. The later LS engines do not have a TAC module, so folks need to check the vehicle it's coming out of to see if that donor uses the TAC module system. Some radiators on the LS HAD the upper hose that goes to the driver's side depending upon the water pump inlets. What you spoke of is "correct" based on your particular usage/setup, it's not 100% correct.
Lots of manufacturers make motor plates these days for LS swaps for almost any application! It’s crazy!! Back to square body Chevy/GMC you are correct in not having to modify or replace the cross member, although the LS series of motors have rather wide oil pans and it is nice to have the extra clearance with aftermarket cross members like Off Road Design.

I've got a 16' Chevy 2500 with 170,000 miles on the 6.0. All maintenance has been done religiously. However, it appears (according to my local mechanic) that the "squeak" that has developed, is a lifter that has gone bad. My guy says the lifter has a wheel on the bottom of it that gets pitted and rubs on the cam wrong. He says this is a common problem with the LS and that I'd be better off putting a whole new engine in it than fixing it because there's a little bit of metal in the filter. Have you or anyone else heard of this problem?
Some of the new LS motors have developed lifter/roller rocker issues. In this case it sounds like the roller bearing/s is skipping(rollers not getting proper oiling and not spinning but bouncing on the cam lobe). Mostly I’ve herd on gen 4 and up LS motors 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 etc. Once there’s metal in the oil pan the motor (any motor) needs to be autopsied and look for any good hard parts.. then a full rebuild or purchase a full rebuild/junkyard motor.
If I take an AWD cadillac escalade with a 6.0 vortex, and put it in my 4x4 scout II will it work...or would it be best to look for a ls engine with a 4x4 drive train in place?

they did make an LS6 and LS5? 454 back in the 70s chevelle SS's. it's not the same LS but it has the same name. the guy you laughed at was probably pretty confused as he was likely telling the truth to you

Yea. Not good news
Also the plastic lifter trays can cause the lifters to rotate when they are bad.. $5 part.. ruins motor!
Pacific Fab pretty much sucks, they don’t listen and put wrong plugs on then the customer service sucks when it comes time to get it corrected.
Yea mine were wrong too. Was it your injectors? Or alternator? Those are the only real ones with multiple options
Merricks Garage o2 sensors and maf sensor.
@@MerricksGarage no one every get the 02 sensors right. Even when you send them your old harness
Burb?
If I take an AWD cadillac escalade with a 6.0 vortex, and put it in my 4x4 scout II will it work...or would it be best to look for a ls engine with a 4x4 drive train in place?
engine has nothing to do with 4x4 or 4x2. Thats what the transfer case is for.
Who is going to work on these trucks in 10 years after they have switched hands and they need to be diagnosed and repaired
what i get a kick out of is people calling a bbc a l.s. engine just look up a 70 chevelle ss l.s. 6 and everyone has a bbc in it they think a ho 454 is a l.s. 6 454 i even had one guy say he has a l.s. 7 454 i had a good laugh at that one . i like the bbc but it is no l.s. engine .
they did make an LS6 and LS5? 454 back in the 70s chevelle SS's. it's not the same LS but it has the same name. the guy you laughed at was probably pretty confused as he was likely telling the truth to you
