- Sam Vallen and Dale Prinsee of Caligula's Horse lay down a full playthrough of 'Golem' off their new album Charcoal Grace - OUT NOW!

Here's what Sam Vallen has to say about the track...
"Golem is a surprisingly tricky one to land - snaky 16ths and tight, syncopated rhythms abound. Dale and my [Sam Vallen] parts often work in counterpoint, and it’s a great test of our rhythmic connectedness and sense of pocket. It’s been an awesome song to take to the stage!"

Fantastic mustache on the bass playing gentleman
After reading this comment at the start of the video, I no longer hear the music... I only hear mustache.
A basstache if you will
It’s pronounced “Djentleman”
-how sofisticated are your riffs?
-yes
Always blown away…. 🌟
C.Horse: Inspiring musicians, writers, composers for the generations to come 💥
Bass tone is immaculate
Album is absolutely amazing, probably the best you've put out.
my fav is in contact, this is top 3 no doubt
sighs and picks up 7 string amazing work guys ❤
dont do it! 6 stings can be heavy
Best album I heard in years!
Please do more of these, I could watch them all day
Love how they JUST listen and are not looking at each other at all ....
It's so nice to see great guys playing and having fun with different sounds. The rhythm changes are great and gives me a chill when listening to you guys. Keep up the good work! Bands like yours are rare nowadays.
i just don't understand how you guys don't have more listeners. Been loving you since day 1
One of the best licks this decade 🔥🔥🔥
i remember Sam saying in the tempest breakdown that the main riff is very awkward to play on guitar and this main riff and verse feels very much the same vibe. sounds great obviously!! just very stabby and rhythmically complex
Good lord, that had the WOW factor!👏👏👏
sparkly glitter guitars are back, and there was much rejoicing
These guys are absolute masters at their craft.
You guys make some of the best prog stuff I have heard.
Ridiculously good playthrough of a killer song on one of the best pro albums I've ever heard!
Excellent performance ! Heavy hugs from France 🇫🇷 ❤️ 🤘
Sam has become one of my favourite guitarists since I discovered Caligula's Horse
Modern metal is satisfying funk.
It’s so good to see Sam and Dale playing joyfully “Golen”, such a great composition, solid structured and well produced tune from “Charcoal Grace”. Excellent job, guys. Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷
So cool to notice every little detail, insane talent! Thanks for making this video. If you'd like to do the same for every song in the album, please, go ahead 😁
Awesome to get another string playthrough vid. But I gotta ask, when's Josh getting HIS playthrough video? 👀
This is the correct question
Thanks for posting this playthrough, with actual audio from the performances we see on video. The first six seconds of "Golem" made my brain think I was listening to "One Hand Killing." 😉
Love this track 🔥
Soooo cool!!!! I love the smiles and the pick throw!
well done guys, great perfomance amazing riffs and scales,.you are the best..
Fantastic work, guys!!
Awesome!!!
This is sick. Also I appreciate that it's not "playthrough" that's 85% quantization
Perfect, now I can see how I wrong I was playing this one lol
Bloody brilliant album lads! 🙌🔥
So sick!
Maestros!!!!!💙💙💙💙
Just amazing 🔥👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great! Now I need to find some time to transcribe this into tabs and rock it!
Album of the year
Amazing bass work!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
AMAZING!!!! Where is the guitar preset for he Quad Cortex? I just see the Bass preset. );
This is so fire
I would love to hear this with a more bassy bass tone. Got a little tired of the standard Dingwall/Darkglass bass tone.
Fantastic playing
amazing!
genius work here!
Awsome!!
LOVE IT ❤
Yooo those riffffff
always perfect :)
Album is a corker, great work all round guys. Love the cheeky pick toss at the end...do you think you've got Aristides attention Sam? ;)
Love this boys, so awesome to see. Is there any chance we could get tabs please 🥺
I NEEEEED to learn these riffs!!! Tabs availiable soon?
Need one for sails 😳
Y'all are so fucking cool
When is it going to be released as a plugin?
QUERO MAIS
It reminds me of an NES style song like from the Batman game in terms of riffage.
Oh hello!
What are your guitars tuned to?
Damn, I need to get a 7 string after watching this.
Sigh... I need an Aristides now
Every mf with a aristides got bouncy ass riffs straight up
What tuning?
Drop A if im not mistaken.
AEADGBE
Loving Dale's fat ass tone
Hopefully someone saying that doesn’t get clipped out of context
Better than the new Tesseract album?!?
Why the riff gotta change endings each time man? My brain hurts lol
It's insane!
The super shallow depth of field was quite distracting
🌭 🐴
Let's go Aristedes 🇳🇱🇳🇱
👍👌💪
Mute... pls, or gjve Josh a Mute playthrough ❤
Why the pick ?? On bass missing lot sound variances with the pick
Nice playing, shame about the plants 🪴
It’s ok but you can see the much lower quality of new musicians vs decades ago…it should be the opposite right? 😅
