- As the weather gets colder, my priorities change from renovation to insulation, as I try to keep the cabin a little warmer for the winter. But I do make a little progress on the addition as well.

I noticed that your problem actually started at 14:47 or 14:50
Look at when you started to put the lag bolt in the whole corner shifted outward
I'm almost positive that was the beginning of your problem
How it pulled itself out as you were screwing in I don't have a clue
Yes, I didn't see it at the time but in playing back the video I see something was weird. Perhaps I hit a bolt or something. I haven't added anything to the ledger except hangers, so I may revisit this before going any further. Too cold out right now! SP
@@SlimPotatohead
Just take it easy stay warm and you'll get it done
Another very interesting and knowledgeable video as always
@@SlimPotatohead
And I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving
I had another look today. Yes, the first lag screw was hitting on something, but I don't know what. I relocated the screw 4" in and most of the curve is gone. This allowed me to remove those spacers. All is good! SP

Glad I was able to help you
Enjoy
Those kitchen lights are a great touch! As a person who likes to spend as little as possible, I find your solutions brilliant.
Nearly choked on my tea, "the deer are admiring my new truck" 😂😂😂
The cabin renovation is just as entertaining as the camping adventures..IMO. Stay warm Slim!!!
You should have a nationally televised show!! Your voice and presentation is top notch! It’s travel time!! Let’s go!
I've often thought the same thing. Slim would make a Great Travel and Documentary Narrator. He has the Voice and Presentation like you said. Another David Attenborugh!!
I agree.
I agree, but if he did have a tv show, he would lose his freedom and become a slave to the production. Always having to meet deadlines, do promotions, curry favour with sponsors, and support the crew. I think he'd hate it. Tv personalities do not have easy lives.
I've always loved "This Old House" type shows. That paired with Slims adventures keeps me enjoying his show! Thanks Slim!
Good morning from West Palm Beach, Florida.
Just opened my eyes to another Slim potatohead video.❤❤❤
A hot cup of coffee and Slim.
My day has started off pretty good so far. 😊
Good morning Doreen!
Me too! We will be doing some building of our own (if the loggers ever finish clearing a building site) and I am seeing a lot of interesting things.
Hey Slim,
I admire the renovation work and appreciate what it takes to do one. I have done both renovation and new construction and give me the new over existing any day of the week! Great work! God Bless!
❤That rain sounds would put me to sleep in a heartbeat 💓💕💓❤️
Precious symphony with the tools,no wonder the animals and birds stop by.Your being very productive, very frugal very creative. That kind of person needs no schedule!
Congrats on your new truck! Can't wait to see where you travel next, however your cabin reno videos are so interesting that I don't want you to stop! Anyway, I look forward to your next video. ❤
Slim, my girlfriend and I have been watching and enjoying your videos for years. We agree, you are a person we would like to know personally. Thank you for all you do.
I never cease to marvel at your resourcefulness, Slim
Men like this are "exactly" who those Our Lord would favour... humble, resourceful full of Spirit. This guy just warms my heart and his creativity is endless. You tube superstar in my books. Infact like Slim, men are called to lead by example. Just my thoughts. Bless you all!
"If only I had a horse". Jusay'n, That hit my funny bone.😄😆🤣😂😅
Living in Australia, I just loved the sound of the rain on a warm cabin roof. Thanks for another amazing video 👍
For a minute I thought your plant pot on the deck was on fire...then I realized it was a reflection of your wood burning heater. Reno is moving along. Tedious stuff takes forever, seemingly. Love auction steal of a deal on the overhead light shades. I love your sense of decor in the cabin. Take care of yourself. 🕊
Although I prefer your travel videos (love the little camper adventures), I also enjoy your reno vids - not because I enjoy home fix videos, but your personality makes it fun.
Good morning from Godley Texas, nothing better than watching you on Black Friday vs going shopping with the crazies. You're a Master DYIer. Your logical approach to projects is always fascinating to watch. Thanks for bringing us along. Stay safe and happy travels 😎
I am subscribed Slim! I prefer your cabin videos the most, as I love the restoration and in turn learning some tricks from you, I really enjoy how you are frugal in your construction practices! It's so appreciated, thanks Slim.
Renovations are my current business. It takes twice as long as planned and only six months after the last changes can you say it's finished. Then six months later you'll decide to do something different. Such is renovation!
Now THAT is expert advice !!! SP
My experience clearly stated!
Nothing like a warm fire on rainy night keep the dream alive your cabin will be finished in no time!
Cabins (and houses) are never finished if you are a DIY'er. There's always something you can fiddle with.
Good afternoon Slim. Your Cabin is looking awesome, especially when we remember what it looked like when you bought it! You're coming along real good! I love the sound of the rain at the videos end. Thanks for taking us along Slim and thumbs UP! 👍
Slim is the best RUclips channel!
Having Saturday morning coffee with Slim love watching you remodel always learning , like that big screw you used always saw it at the hardware store and wonder where it would be used😊
Really like the rustic cabin. Sound of the rain is great. Enjoy this build series. Thanks for sharing.
Love watching the cabin come together
I think that insulation will make a big difference. Thanks for the video.
I watched parts 24 and 25 back to back, and the time sailed by very peacefully. You do an amazing job on your renovations and video documentation.I
I've been watching you for years and just noticed in the shower segment that you are left-handed.
Thanks, Slim!
Things are really coming along, Slim! It may not seem that way to you, but the place was really rough when you bought it. Due to your efforts and ingenuity, it's now a home. Bravo!
It's so cool to see the cabin become a solid, warm and attractive place compared to what it was when you got it. Lots of money and HARD work, but also your vision of it is coming to life. I kinda like the white up there - seems to brighten the space.
I know it's a lot of hard work but, I envy you.
Good morning Slim, from Atlanta Georgia where its 44℉ this morning. Brrrrrrr! Might as well be freezing for us southerners.😅
Good morning Atlanta. Better get out the parka !!!
The cabin has come a long way from when you first walked us through the spider webs and dust. 😎✌
Slim, I always knew you Canadian "carpenters" were better than the ones in the States. Down here it would have taken them three weeks to accomplish what you did in just one 25-minute video. Great job! Looking forward to more.
You always seem to keep your spirits up. I admire that.
Love watching this cabin come to life. My husband and I built our first home and many things after and we were no pros. It was all so rewarding. He passed now and I'm so glad I learned so many useful skills. Thanks so much
I like the patient attitude you bring to the channel. Makes is enjoyable to watch.
You just make me smile. 😊
Thank you for your videos.
Love watching via my armchair. Greetings from Salem,Oregon
I enjoy all your videos. You're living the kind of life I desire. Being able to travel and still have a small cabin close to water with lots of wildlife. Perfect!
Hello From Lancaster California 🇺🇸
Seeing how fast you moved, you must of had an extra bowl of wheaties for the socket wrench rhumba…..😂
You may not be a tradesman or person but you have some amazing problem solving skills. One tip I learned from a good friend many years ago is to burn an inch when laying out dimensions to the end of a measuring tape. Instead of going to the end, start at the one inch mark and measure out. Just remember to add or subtract that inch. We did this for more accuracy. Just a friendly tip. Keep up the great work. I have been a fan for a long time. Cheers!!! 🎉
Slim you sure are a handy dude!!! 😀👍👏🏻
SLIM ....your researching "How to do" ...and your doing a GREAT job. Stay warm and keep sending videos Slim !
Say Slim your fast with that wrench!
How cool that you are really adding great value to your cabin and you get to decide everything yourself.
Aww...the deer!! Cabin looks awesome, for a guy with an "awkward way of doing things".😂
Hello from frosty Alberta! ❄👍😎🇨🇦
Love watching your whole renovation project. Cabin in the Maritimes, what a dream. Got family in St George, New Brunswick. Love going out there. Totally different Canadian experience for us westerners. Wonderful. Warm, welcoming people.
Damn I love your cabin so much!
The insulation on the roof should help hold in the heat. Can't wait for the new addition to your cabin Slim.
😂😂😂😂😂 Semi-antique 1970s!!! Our youth is gone! But a new drink to try: Rum cream + Ovaltine. Mmmm…maybe🤢 🤔? Can’t wait to see that new room, and…nice relaxing rain sounds👍 🥶
For something who claims to have rudimentary carpentry skills, you are doing relatively well in this regard. So far, your ingenuity and carpentry work on the cabin (and landscape) is nonetheless impressive!
Great night for a glass of Ovaltine and rum. Your cabin is looking beautiful.
Jamaica 🇯🇲 here always watching your post they are interesting I enjoy them may not leave a comment but always watching blessings
Having sore muscles, from doing work that benefits you directly and gives you satisfaction, is much easier to bear.
Hey Slim. You need ventilation between the roof boards and the styrofoam or pink insulation. As well, openings in your outside overhang and some type of maximum at the ridge.
Actually there is. The rafters are 4" deep, the insulation 2". That leaves a 2" space. SP
Don’t be discouraged about what you haven’t accomplished. Just chip away at it and before you know it, you’ll have it done. I think you accomplished a fair amount!
Nice work, Slim. This is the old story of the tortoise and the hare. Slow and steady wins.
Looking GREAT Slim... if the ratchet is Craftsman... they will replace it 🙂 Ovaltine.. 😅 I remember their 'yodeling' commercials from the 1960's 😂🤣😂 but they never added the rum cream 😋
Craftsman tools are great. They don't give you a new ratchet, they give you the guts to replace. I have gotten them a few times.
You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. You do a fine job when you build.
Another great video, keep them coming
Hello Slim, I enjoy the travel, the camping, and cabin renovations of coursse. But I now feel we are kindred spirits. At least in the States, I thought I was the only person who still enjoys his Ovaltine, but you my friend, adding some rum cream brings it to a wonderful new level that I have never been to.
Always enjoy your cabin video's, thanks 😊
What a quaint little cabin…
Great video, Slim, the cabin is really looking good ❤
A new winter warmer. Ovaltine and Eldorado Rum Cream. Forever, forthwith known as the "Slim Slicker".
no one can ever say you are not afraid to get your hands dirty by taking on a project
Love the update, cabin looks amazing, strong work 💪
I LIKE THE JACKET YOU ARE WEARING. I BOUGHT TWO OF THEM AT SAM'S CLUB WHEN THEY WENT ON CLOSE OUT FOR 7 DOLLARS US EACH. I THINK THAT WAS A GREAT BARGAIN.
That was a steal. I like it because it has zippered pockets. Keeps my phone from falling out! SP
Hey slim, you did a lot of work to that cabin. All looks great so far.
Hello from upstate NY! I'm loving following your progress on this wonderful cabin build. That truck should serve your lifestyle very well. Congrats to you for all you have accomplished.
I like the fact that you do things on a 'budget'. Much more interesting.
Just a wonderful video. Thank you so much for allowing us to see the progress on the cabin.
Cute shades on those pendent lights!
We have used an old electric carving knife to cut foam insulation. works pretty well. Also, Grand Marnier is very good in coffee too. Love the update, sorry about the weather.
Too much fun. Enjoyed. Thanks for sharing.
Those lights were super cool they are bright and fit the vibe of your cabin very nice
I hope the little deer are sheltering I love the cabin stuff seeing it all shaping up fantastic.
Love the lights!❤️
It’s looking up Mr. Slim 👍🏻
Good morning slim
That's better! Good Morning Jason!
You do an excellent job of filming this remodeling project! I thoroughly enjoy watching each one!
Love it slim !! Keep um coming...👍
That foam board stuff is so cheap and easy to work with for insulation. Yes it can be messy but works so darn well. Just wish your addition would have gone the whole distance from front to back. But, you only need a small space and keep a budget. Good work
You have a nice cabin there slim. Looks very nice and cozy especially the fire in the woodstove.
Cool little cabin would love to have one here in Michigan on a Northern River.
Love the cabin videos.....🙂
Nice job so far, I hope the weather cooperates and lets you get it done before Winter really sets in.
I only intend to get the platform built. The rest can wait until spring. Thanks! SP
You make it look so easy.
Awesome content as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along.Happy Thanksgiving.
Good morning, Slim. Jasper, -10, snow on the ground. 👍😂
I hope that, during one of your rain breaks, you ran into town and bought a new socket wrench.
Perfect video to watch on a rainy morning, thanks for posting
Nice lights
It’s looking great friend. Really enjoying the videos.
When you go get a camper, there's plenty of truck campers. That goes in the bed of the truck you don't have to tow a trailer
happy to see reno projects going takes time enjoy your travels stay warm
Thanks for another great entertaining video. The cabin is really looking great, had to watch a second time to see all the little things you’ve added.
