Ring, Ring, “Hello, Is this Slim Potatohead? “Yes, it is.” “This is National Geographic calling. We are interested in your impeccable photography, as well as your ability to narrate, always adding humor.” Slim, you outdid yourself again. Those shots of the quaint little boating harbor, and the rocks and moss, were wonderful! I literally can’t wait for your next video!! 🙏🏼💔🐾💔🙏🏼
I recently had some purple potatoes... yes !! ...purple potatoes. They tastes just like the white ones... Not sure where they are indigenous to, but very good & good for you! 1st time eating these. On another note... I have noticed how much clearer & brighter your videos are. Is this your new camera? Enjoy your videos!
Growing up in North Carolina we and my grandfather planted and harvested potatoes for our families .We used to store them in what we called the potato shack which was an little old storage building. We had a bin with a rabbit wire bottom for ventilation and we placed old rugs on top that were not fit for the house to insulate them over the winter. By the time potatoe planting season came back around some of the potatoes had softened and started to rot. We picked the remainder which had grown some decent sprouts out of the eyes and cut them into sections each with a sprout and planted them sprout up for another harvest
Love PEI . Visited on a work trip in 2017. Hoped to return this year. Ran out of time. Next year for sure. I actually was working on potato planters in 2017.
Nice vid, seemed luck a delicious trip. I planted 3lbs of seed potatoes in the spring and got 40lbs from them a couple weeks ago. You are right, fresh potatoes are so much tastier.
You do a terrific job showing the beauty of Canada! My dad was from the US but his family came from Nova Scotia and Quebec. We grew potatoes every year, tons of them and kept them in bins in the cellar for the winter...it was in his Canadian blood I guess.
I think we were touring the east side of PEI at the same time! Enjoyed seeing Neufrage's bridge----the tuna capital of Canada. Also loved seeing East Point lighthours and also the ferry to the Magdelan Islands coming into Rollo Bay harbour. Excellent fries are also to be found at a little stand in the Canadian Tire parking lot in Charlottetown. I believe it is Mike's but don't quote me. lol Great video, Slim. It is totally fitting that you, a Potatohead, should go in search of the best potato. Glad you found it on PEI.
This was really interesting! I regret that I have taken potatoes for granted, but I pledge to change my wicked ways and take time to smell the potatoes. Love those fields of Goldenrod and Queen Anne's Lace, too. Thanks for all your time and effort, Slim. Be well.
Really creative displays at the museum on PEI! I once knew a man here in Georgia who had a son named “Tater.” Apparently, when he was a newborn he looked just like a “Tater.”
My wife will tell you to cook the carrots a few minutes ahead of the other ingredients because they are more denser that way everything will cook even together. She makes slot of soups. Good video slim
That potato museum tour was really a treat, thank you! I live in a town where a Century plus ago, the potato was the first cash crop of choice after the lumberjacks moved on to another forest. As recently as 70 years ago, the potato harvests stopped becoming a thing for some reason or another, and the area remained as traditional farm country. Seeing some of that machinery, just reminded me of some of the farmers who still had that equipment, but just left to nature.
Hi again my friend. Great potato adventure! That plate of beans, potatoes, corn and carrots made me hungry. The scenery is very beautiful. Your vids always make me want to look for a small camper and hit the road. I already have the Jeep, I just retired, so now starts the adventure of looking for that perfect camper. 😎
Tator, What colorful & artistic scenery and views! Potatoes are my favorite! Had them for supper tonight but mine were home grown! Yes, family campgrounds are more for families with kids who need to entertain them! I love state & national parks more, the natural environment you cannot beat it! Loved your tator taste test (say that 3xs fast)....it was cute! ❤ 🥔🍟🍺
Exploring your heritage can be fun. Don't you feel a bit cannibalistic, Slim? I will say your potato vegetable dinner looked to be the best thing I have ever seen you cook. Safe travels, Slim. Some day, I hope you get to explore the Great Plains.
This is one of my favorite videos in a long time. I love your travels, even if it’s just a tater hunt! You have such a gift. Great videography and your storylines are always well thought out and spoken. I’m a total fan! ❤TN Nana
Who knew there were TWO Potato museums on the same continent? Slim, you are a great story teller, photographer/videographer and you deserve some kind of Canadian Honor as an Ambassador of your country, or at least a PEI award for the best Potatohead. The music was perfect for honoring a spud. Now we can honestly say you are full of starch!
Hey Slim! We enjoyed your video. We grow sweet potatoes around here. Sweet potatoes aren’t related to Irish potatoes but are native to the tropics. We have found that they grow very well in the south. After they are dug, they are cured in a warm barn for about two weeks. All of that flavorless starch turns to a wonderful sweetness that can’t be beat. There are some varieties that do produce in colder climates and possibly even Canada.
I just saw a recipe that fits the theme of this video - which looks delicious by the way. Sliced about 3-4mm thick, potatoes are layered with swiss cheese and vegan bacon bits, garlic 'butter' and a little seasoning in cups of muffin tins. Baked under foil and then a bit more cheese after the foil removal and broiled. Yum. And ditto to @croberts709 comment about how beautifully you showcase all of North America but this was lovely.
Growing up in Southern California by the beach, and being stationed at Fort Monroe of of the Chesapeake, I definitely can understand the lore of living in PEI. ✌️
Loved the potato museum footage.+ you included the perfect background fiddle music. That museum definitely topped the Idaho museum with all the antique farm implements & equipment. Tsk, tsk - should have left the skin on the potatoes B4 boiling or baking any potato, PEI or Idaho. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.
I have crossed that bridge many many times to visit my friend DAISY in Tignish, PEI When you walk out to the end of that pointed piece of land for a couple of seconds there oh, I was dizzy. lol Only in PEI that one can find “wheat beer”….. I think?? There’s a small grocery store in Tignish, called CO OP, such friendly people / staff. Thank you Slim for taking me on your trip to PEI, you have brought back many many fond memories of MY trips to the Island.
Great idea oatmeal on paper plate. I drink organic instant coffee it’s great . I feel like I’m watching relaxing nature video . I love yellow potatoes with cultured butter😊
Hi Slim nice place beautiful scenery, the tranquility of the ocean, the tour of the potato museum was amazing learn a lot about the good old potato, your PEI dinner looks delicious, thanks for sharing stay safe
Good afternoon from Buescher State Park TX, your videos are never boring. They're filled with interesting places, topics, adventures, and loaded with scenic locations. I tip my hat to you, Mr. Slim. Stay safe and happy travels 😎
A day with a new Slim Potatohead video is a good day! Thanks for this! As always, entertaining AND informative. And beautifully shot and mixed. Cheers!
Back in the '60s i was a child growing up in idaho. Now my dad could fix anything and that included tvs . A lot of people would call us up for him to come fix their tv, but many couldnt pay for it so he would just do it for free. My mom didnt like that tho and she let him know that he was providing a service and should be compensated for it. Lets face it, a lot of people took advantage of his good nature. So he would still go out but now he would normally bring back some money for his service. One day he went out to a farm to fix a tv. Took him a long time to come home. So when he did , he came in all sad, and told my mom he didnt have money. She was getting ready to scold him and he ran out to the car and brought in a huge gunny sack and put it in front of my mom. She opened it and pulled out HUGE russet baking potatoes. She was beyond happy and said that those were better than money any day.
Prince Edward Island😲 And just casually mentioned "Green gables"! I want to see it, and everything mentioned in the books. Except from that 🤔, it looked like a cosy trip, and nice tent!
Great video and informative for those of us a bit too fragile and far away. And I do appreciate the 60p video as it's much better on a big screen when any moving shots are taken. No blur. Good job Slim.
SHEESH, Slim, you bring back wonderful memories of my childhood. My dad grew ‘em. Mom cooked ‘em. I was the oldest of six kids and we picked ‘em up and helped where we could. Yummy!!! I agree, fresh is better. From northern Kentucky.
I planted some spud eyes in a couple of pots on my deck this summer, here in Alberta. One got drowned by an overflowing gutter during one of our downpours but the other is flourishing. Can't wait to see what we got once the tops die back. How did we survive before we had potatoes? Turnips I'm guessing, but nothing beats a basic spud. Num num. 😊👌🤗 Thanks Slim, that was fun. (Taber 🌽😉)

I just love your content! I was in Wisconsin for a great deal of the summer, your wildflowers here were very comforting ❤️ reminds me of my great summer!
once again Slim you have helped me decide on a new camping item I'd like to add to my gear, and you didn't even know it... I was just sitting here thinking b4 I watched this vid that maybe I ought to invest in a new one burner propane stove.... my 2 burner takes up so much room in my teardrop and I think I rarely use both burners at one time and along comes Slim with his one burner Coleman stove... thanks for helping me decide and loved this vid.. .your photography and narration is so calming.. and who can't use calm these days....
You needed a camping break from your last cabin improvement. Dirt work is stressful at times. Whew! By the time you return, new drive should harden up.👌
Enjoy your potatoes with the potato chips Slim! Thanks for taking us along! My favorite potato chips are "Lays." Did you know chips are a great way to start a camp fire due to the oil in the chips? They do work. :)
Great video Slim! I live in NS and grow my own potatoes every year. However, they certainly can't compare to PEI potatoes! That was a great trip and you are correct that it is a very touristy island! Covered Bridge are the best potatoes chips!!

love the Toby's Take out - we have a Toby's out here on Whidbey Island in Washington State that is absolutely worth a stop as well. Thanks for the vid, cheers sir.
I really enjoy your videos. I am great ful you do your videos. Please keep making them. You are the go to guy to after at the end of the day and you help me relax when I go to sleep. Please take it a compliment.
Toby's is a great little place. We stay in Across the bay from Souris every year. Sheep Pond Road. Beautiful beach that is kind of private. We stay at a spot on 111 acres that covers the entire tip of that area. Pretty awesome spot.
I gotta admit, I was a little disappointed the PEI Potato Museum didn't have a giant Slim Potatohead as its mascot. Great video as always though.
"Although it usually takes 15 minutes to cross, I was in a hurry. So I sped up the video."
Ring, Ring, “Hello, Is this Slim Potatohead? “Yes, it is.” “This is National Geographic calling. We are interested in your impeccable photography, as well as your ability to narrate, always adding humor.”

I’ve never seen Green beans that dark Green and I’ve ate a lot of fresh Green beans. Those were like kale Green lol.

Hello Slim. Your channel is inspirational. My husband and I are saving for a Trillium and hoping to travel across Canada in 2024. Thank you!
You needed a camping break from your last cabin improvement.
Dirt work is stressful at times. Whew!
By the time you return, new drive should harden up.👌
Oh, boy! Now I want some good French fries! Great video, as always. Love your channel.
Beautiful area! The ground color was fascinating! Interesting spud comparison too.
Sharing your video with my PEI cousins. I'm nostalgic, thinking of past visits. Great video.

You really need to come to the Pa. Farm show for the best baked potato and a shake that has been doing this for generations 😊

BTW, I've had the pleasure of visiting P.E.I and it's an absolute gem of an island with it's greens and reds , the blue of the sea, and wonderful people. Happy Trails
Tents are an awesome experience...as are potatoes! 👍😎🇨🇦🥔⛺
I need this video after a hard day. Well done.
You went to O’Leary and didn’t stop at the Richmond dairy bar along the way or ordered “fries with the works”. Outrageous.
great observations. Stop in North Appleton to get of the best Potato Wedges at North Siders gas station. Small gas stations can surprise the pallet!
love the Toby's Take out - we have a Toby's out here on Whidbey Island in Washington State that is absolutely worth a stop as well. Thanks for the vid, cheers sir.
I really enjoy your videos. I am great ful you do your videos. Please keep making them. You are the go to guy to after at the end of the day and you help me relax when I go to sleep. Please take it a compliment.
I hope to make it to PEI this summer. Thanks for the travel tips.
Toby's is a great little place. We stay in Across the bay from Souris every year. Sheep Pond Road. Beautiful beach that is kind of private. We stay at a spot on 111 acres that covers the entire tip of that area. Pretty awesome spot.
Slim, you always mention that you aren't a foodie BUT that plate you made looked sensational!
I was there last year. exactly the same spots. Best vacation we had in Canada so far. Cabot Trail was awesome too.
