it kinda makes me sad how aki just tells misao to "move on" and "clear her heart and forget" bc that's usually how outsiders treat victims -- to tell them to simply forget
I know right? That's really messed up and dismissive to victim's feelings who experience abuse. However, I think Misao was able to move on because she has Aki as someone who only love and care for her so it lift the weight of pain and loneliness she carries, the reason she's still clinging in life. she is able to move on because Aki supports her. As abuse victims like myself, it truly heal the heart of someone as long they have somebody to support them to move on, not enable and "protect" them. At least, that's how I feel. Lol.
Forget is not a good word to use in this case. Move on yeah, but there are things you can't forget, trying to do so make them come back in full force. Moving on mean to carry on accepting the present burden, forgetting mean to pretend it doesn't exist.
@@yusukeelric I can agree with that. I don't think Forget is the right word as well, cause like you said, others never forget the pain and suffering. For me, I would think that Anger and grudge shouldn't overtake you.

You know what? It’s neat to see that Aki just wanted them to move on. Like, I get the cruel people being tormented, makes sense, karma and all, but… holding onto your own pain, even grudges, not only harm others, but more importantly yourself. Plus… it’s almost like they were never gone at all, still holding power. So for those who are wondering why the teacher would deserve the allowance of moving on, or being reborn, think about it; it’s a cruel, but warped man, finally being allowed to start over, without any of his actions, or his trauma, warping him. A fresh slate, a different person. He has no power anymore.
At least, that’s what I think. It’s not to excuse him; it’s taking away everything from him, including his power, and his suffering. It’s a new person. He is gone.
I think he was originally a good person who went insane from the mistreatment he faced as a youth and even with plastic surgery, when everyone was treating him better, he was sure it was mostly based on his looks, not because of himself What he's done is unforgivable, but I'd like to think that he was able to find peace after aki told him that he wasn't just loved for his appearance, but also his good side which got overweighed by his inner darkness

Rather surprised to see that they changed what happens to the teacher after making him move on, since in the original it's implied that he reincarnates as a cat instead of a human like the others
I think what’s scary about this story is that some parts of it could happen in real life. The bullying in Japan is terrible with many of the people who are bullies go on as if it never mattered to them. A teacher abusing their authority is terrible is also a clear and serious probability.
Bullying is terrible and often gets out of control no matter where. Only that japan doesn't shy away from telling the stories as messed up as they can get. While those stories in other parts of the world are sugarcoated losing the weight they need to truly understand how bad things can get.
I knew that those two games were connected together because of the Onikowara and the events of Mad Father. This is a great video though, I love the both of these games, the plot, story telling, and all. Misao, with how creepy and dark it truly was, and Mad Father, with how greusome and disturbingly bone chilling it was.
Do you think that you could do a Story Explained for Ib or the Witch's House? Both are like Miaso and Mad Father, RPG Horror games and are both very unique in their stories
Prior to the remastered version, the same cat that Kurata tried to save appeared in front of the tombstone. However, is not clear as to what it truly meant.
@@thesunandthemoon9688 it's also a possibility that while Kurata wasn't reborn, the cat's soul came as a sign of compassion from it, since Kurata tried to save him. The cat was described back then as "sleeping peacefully", and Aki's dialogue indicated that is indeed that same cat.
@@MaxusFox23 thank you for the insight, also sorry for the late reply♡♡ The only good thing he really did was to try and save that kitten, so that's not a lot of good karma
Maybe the cat was a reflection of the choices he COULD'VE made? He could've made the choice to just tidy his looks up and be less creepy, he could've chosen to stay and listen to the students talking about him fully, instead of focusing on their mentions of his looks, he could've chosen to be an actual pillar of support for Misou; the cat that he helped could've been a reflection of the good person he could've been.
When I was young and still in school I was bullied pretty badly. I register on the autistic scale so it was very hard for me too get close to people. Heck even reading & writing was hard for me because I was slow. I wasn’t social or anything I kept to myself pretty much. So I was a perfect target for people to tease and bully never physical just mental and emotional and it really tore me up inside. I just can’t understand why they were doing this to me when I never did anything to them so I can understand completely how alot of the characters in this game feel. They were some nice people at school that try to help me out try to be nice to me but I just couldn’t open up to them I was scared that they might use what they learned to hurt me and I wasn’t sure how to communicate with them. And growing up even now and I’m 35 it still affects me even to this day. Because I still have those insecurities and fears. Sometimes I get nervous when people are just looking in my direction like I think are they watching me or they judging me even when they’re not it’s one of those insecurities of mine. Back when I was younger I’m ashamed to say that I in fact thought about ending it killing myself but looking back on that now those times when I thought that… it doesn’t make any sense because it wouldn’t make anything any better I would end up just hurting those I care about. But I still have trouble with depression and anxiety and sometimes it makes it hard to do my job at where I work but there are people at my job who are very kind. They can tell when I’m having a hard time… heck when they’re having a hard time or really anxious or upset I do whatever I can to try to help them feel better and I’ve been told time and time again that they really appreciate that because they do the same for me. Sorry I kind of got a little weird there but I really like watching your videos you do a really good job keep up the good work and it’s nice that you care about your viewers I personally appreciate that thanks. Take care and stay safe
I'm very sorry about what happened to you, I am autistic too and I too was bullied to elementary school but I never had it that bad. Some of the kids in my school would normally just tease me about the weird and random things I would say and sometimes take my things like pencils and pictures to get me upset, but some of them as we got older I managed to befriend a few of them because they started to mature and for one I figured out how one had a hard family life and I was also was kind and sometimes shared my lunch with one of them. I just never really hated them, expert for one of the classmate and an adult who bullied me years as an adult. I don't know why but I could just see not all of them were bad and I had friends were willing to protect me. People are a very weird species, some are evil, others are good, some people with good intentions but do bad things. I don't understand it but what we can do is trust ourselves and learn from these kind of people good and bad.
Mr Kurwata made me uncomfortable as soon as I saw him, he was like Yoshikage Kira from jojo When the protags best friend said "he had a thing for hands" I knew something was up
I've been waiting for this video! These games were my childhood and I almost forgot about them, so thank you for the very well made videos and for bringing attention to these games, they're really underrated!
As much as I think the whole redemption stuff wasn't portrayed in the best way, i don't think this all meant misao forgave them or that they are free from punishment. The kids get a second chance, but the teacher doesn't kind of indicating that he is beyond redemption, the teacher is "saved" but not reborn. I think the forgiveness is not necessarily misao, after all she was opposed to aki freeing them, it was some sort of self absolution from them. The hole concept of moving on isn't forgive and forget. Misao doesn't truly forgive her abusers but she finds confort in her new friend, and being loved is worth more than holding on to pain. The problem is again how sometimes it is portrayed as a forgiving is the moral high ground or something of the sort that doesn't truly apply to pain. As you can not forgive some one and move on and not be trapped. There's a diference between no forgiveness and revenge, and i think that's it's what is trying to convey. Again not necessarily in the most nuanced way but it's still a good story time.
I personally don't think of it as a redemption at all just them being recycled new creatures from the source misao never forgave she just finally found someone who loved her and she let go she didn't want to hold onto the pain but she held onto aki love
@@augustuslunasol10thapostle yeh! That's what I was trying to imply! My point was that i don't think it fully lands and why so many people think it's a redemption for her abusers instead.
Am i the only one glad Ayaka survived and leveled up on her crushes?? Also I understand some of the comments about the abusers and about Aki trying to convince Misao to move on but in Aki (or from my) Perspective if Misao doesn't move she be stuck in that Grudge form forever reminded about the horrible things done to her over and over again and that is no way to live. Also Yoshino's Minons (including the guy she let abuse Misao) should also pay!!!!
This really is a tragic tale, and I can see why many, myself included, would be able to relate to some of these stories. It’s nice seeing they’re able to move on as well, honestly I applaud the creators and the messages it may bring.
People think the message is "these. People shouldn't be punished" and will say "but they should be tortured for what they've done" when in truth the message is "if you keep holding onto your grudge you only suffer and torment yourself you have friend right there someone who loves you is it worth abandoning that just to get abck at those who made you suffer?" it's not worth it in the long run especially when you have to suffer to torment your tormentors

Kurata backstory wasn’t even that bad in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I hate bullies and his younger self didn’t deserve that. BUT HE STRAIGHT UP ASSAULTED AND MURDERED AN INNOCENT GIRL! I’m suppose to feel bad that puberty was just doing it’s normal thing ( who didn’t have acne, didn’t like their appearance, and felt like an outsider during puberty. We were all busted looking, I would burn all my middle school pictures if I could lol). And he got rejected by a girl? Like, that’s not rare, most people in their lifetime will get rejected. He deserved his punishment, sorry not sorry
He was really giving the classic Incel, “Nice guy” trope. Just because a girl isn’t a jerk or wants to be your friend, DOES NOT MEAN she owes you anything nor has to accept your romantic advances. Take the L like everyone else and keep it moving
I’m so sorry last thing, how is Kurata a “kind person at heart”??? Because he tried to save a dying cat, that’s nice and all but that doesn’t make you a good person. You know how many serial killers and torturers had pets?? Probably because they killed any human company they had so animals would be the best next thing. For me, he never really showed he was a morally good and kind person
I agree. It sucks that they experienced some shit in their life. But that doesn't justify their actions whatsover. Abuse is still abuse no matter what reason the abuser has.
I agree. In the narrative, it isn’t about the abusers, it’s about Misao. It’s all about letting Misao’s spirit move on from vengeance and find peace. It’s a good message about hate and vengeance (or vengeful thoughts) can trap someone in the past and keep them from finding a life beyond their abusers. And that no one has any excuse to do monstrous acts, not even Misao. But the execution was lacking. I did wish that Kurata’s story had made a more overt comparison to how Misao had been subjected to even worse abuse than he ever had but she was still a sweet gentle person in life and even had the power to forgive her murderers. But Kurata had become a self-absorbed, twisted, serial murderer who never repented for his heinous sins, even in death. It should have been a powerful message about breaking the cycle of abuse but instead seemed to following the old (false) adage of “bullies having it worse at home” or whatever.
Yeah, but holding onto a hatred of them long enough just recreates the cycle of @buse. Kurata was @bused, then he @bused Misao, and then Misao abuses in return; it doesn't end. The only way her spirit moves on is to let go of h@tred. Besides, I think it's why Kurata turns into the teenage version of himself when he's embraced; it's the only part of him we can forgive, and it's not like he doesn't know it. I mean, the game's really more about the cycle of @buse, than excusing @busers
I cannot believe I just know this - so gender also played a good role in this story that shows different scenarios. Since we know Aki's perspective, the female main character, I am legit curious now of Akito's perspective, the male main character. 👀
In the male perspective the protagonist is more cowardly and ends up not killing anyone. (Tohma is killed off screen after you change your mind half way / Kurata is ends up being killed by the female aki possessing you after you couldn't bring up the courage to do so). Male Aki crushes on Saotome and in the final scene Misao instead of wanting the 3 of you to stay together, asks Male Aki to either leave her alone or take Tohma's place as her boyfriend. The scene conclude with Aki saying he would like to be her friend, since it would be shallow to start dating without getting to know each other and that he had always liked her.
The male version doesn't kill the teacher in cold blood. Instead goes for a more pacifist route. Being forced to save the teacher or Toma. The teacher refuses help and falls to his death. Wich also makes it my favourite route. The female version doesn't let the teacher show his regret and kills him herself. Problem with this ending is that if you went for this route the DLC can get confusing, because in the female avatar route, the teacher doesn't get to show any regret on his actions.
Thank you for sending good wishes to your subscribers. There are not a lot of people who truly care about their viewers so thank you for showing that you do care :)

Ok, here’s the thing. I know that they say the punishment they’re enduring is too much for their crimes. That’s true for most of them. Both of them, especially Kurata, did things so horrible that it’s hard to imagine, and they really deserve their punishments.

I really have a soft spot for older rpg horror games, super glad they added DLCs and more lore to games like Mad Father and Misao! Thank you for bringing back so much nostalgia 😊
Ikr I watch this type of jrpg games I'm happy my fav youtuber plays them
It's not "old" maybe wanna change the working I guess, what do I know.
it kinda makes me sad how aki just tells misao to "move on" and "clear her heart and forget" bc that's usually how outsiders treat victims -- to tell them to simply forget
@i dont think should I ignore your name?
I know right? That's really messed up and dismissive to victim's feelings who experience abuse. However, I think Misao was able to move on because she has Aki as someone who only love and care for her so it lift the weight of pain and loneliness she carries, the reason she's still clinging in life. she is able to move on because Aki supports her.
As abuse victims like myself, it truly heal the heart of someone as long they have somebody to support them to move on, not enable and "protect" them. At least, that's how I feel. Lol.
That actually might be a theme in this dlc
Forget is not a good word to use in this case. Move on yeah, but there are things you can't forget, trying to do so make them come back in full force. Moving on mean to carry on accepting the present burden, forgetting mean to pretend it doesn't exist.
@@yusukeelric I can agree with that. I don't think Forget is the right word as well, cause like you said, others never forget the pain and suffering. For me, I would think that Anger and grudge shouldn't overtake you.
This whole story is just heartbreaking. This poor girl was bullied terribly, tortured, and killed violently.
If I remember Correctly the way that the main character reacts is different depending on the gender.
Yeah that's true
The girl was borderline creeping me out sometimes lmao
@@anonymoususer9197 well I do know at the part before you kill Kurata as female Aki kills him with no mercy as Male Aki can't do it but gets his body taken over by Female Aki and make him kill Kurata.

Had zero regrets and punishment for everything he did.
Also Kurata: b-but world superficial 🥺🥺🥺 I'm victim 🥺

So why did Misao go after just Yoshino and not the dude who forced himself on her or the girls who beat her ass? Yea they did it on her command but I feel like a rage monster would be mad at everyone involved regardless.
I remember in the game, that he wasn't actually a rapist or at least willing. They told him that she wanted him and he even ask if she was sure which she said yes because she was blackmail.
However, I do agree. She should have taken revenge on more people.
Edit: I watched this video and I realized. They might have changed this. So nah, your right. He should have been on that hit list.

It was a JOKE, in response to someone referencing an anime I liked. That's my reasoning for commenting, why ate you getting so defensive?
He is gone.
I think he was originally a good person who went insane from the mistreatment he faced as a youth and even with plastic surgery, when everyone was treating him better, he was sure it was mostly based on his looks, not because of himself
What he's done is unforgivable, but I'd like to think that he was able to find peace after aki told him that he wasn't just loved for his appearance, but also his good side which got overweighed by his inner darkness
@@z2yn agreed. It’s better for him to be at peace, not hurting anyone including himself, rather than still suffering.

For those who watch the game, this game simbols social life, insecurity and sexual harassments and this catches my pov.
Thank you for continuing this series, it must have been a little intense for you. Thank you for everything you do!
Ooo I wanna see that
Prior to the remastered version, the same cat that Kurata tried to save appeared in front of the tombstone. However, is not clear as to what it truly meant.
Maybe his soul was reborn into a cat because they couldn't risk putting his soul into a human body again. Or his will to live wasn't that strong idk
@@MaxusFox23 thank you for the insight, also sorry for the late reply♡♡
The only good thing he really did was to try and save that kitten, so that's not a lot of good karma
@lindseybell9691 genuinely amazing idea
When the abuser gets reformed and moves past his/her actions while the victim sinks deeper into despair always irritates me
When I was young and still in school I was bullied pretty badly.
Take care of yourself! I Hope you're hapier now!( Oh and ignore the scary avatar )

I've been waiting for this video! These games were my childhood and I almost forgot about them, so thank you for the very well made videos and for bringing attention to these games, they're really underrated!
@@teapots1236 who didn't? lol
I think in the original game the teacher let the cat be reborn
I still hate Kurata and Yoshino there actions are so horrific I believe they should not have been saved and they deserved that after life
I hope you fucking realize if you don't rescue them misao keeps being tormented and turns into a monster

That misao deserves to never find peace because someone tormented her fucking hell man they already tormented her and now you just let her stay in torment instead of giving her peace
@@augustuslunasol10thapostle yes because those people literally tortured her for what? Cause she was shy and quiet?

For me, he never really showed he was a morally good and kind person
idk man I don't like how this game kinda excuses sexual abusers
I agree. It sucks that they experienced some shit in their life. But that doesn't justify their actions whatsover. Abuse is still abuse no matter what reason the abuser has.
Explanation, not excuse
@@renhisui222 plus the girl's personal hell is basically being beaten up while she literally helped to s3xual assault someone is pretty lame
"i hope whatever is bothering you gets better soon" aw that's so nice, I hope all goes well for you too

Updated sprites and all that. I hope they do the same with ib and witches house
There's something surreal with RPG maker games having such heavy stories. I don't know if this is something only those like me would get or it's the same for everyone else. Whenever I see RPG maker games, I'm usually reminded of games like Pokemon first. My mind goes to the number of games that have a similar appearance to it. Thus, whenever I get to see RPG maker games that have such heavy stories, it feels as if my childhood was being re-written. Sometimes, memories even mix together and creates a surreal mess in my mind.

Yoshino too, straight up trash. All for a guy?? Who STILL didn’t date or liked her when bullying Misao. He went to another girl that wasn’t her, she literally, tormented Misao. She physically, verbally, emotionally and mentally abused her and THE BATHROOM SCENE!!! Her punishment wasn’t even CLOSE to what she did to Misao. She is not redeemed in my eyes, she didn’t learn anything, the tables turned and she couldn’t handle it and wanted it to stop. There was no growth, she should’ve stayed. Still love this game and story though! I’m just putting my thoughts out there
It's funny because Kira wasn't punished either. He lived a productive second life being a detective.
I don’t like pervert teachers especially ones who murder you if you don’t like them back the ONLY redeeming quality for the teacher in this game is that he helped a cat (to the best of his abilities)

In the cases of what happened to the people that screwed Miaso's life over, they each deserved what they got, while i agree with another commenter about how its nice there is possible redemption
Each of the four deserves to suffer
I'm glad I found your channel ^-^ I love these games even more now that I see the details I missed.
Ps:Ayaka knows her worth 😂
I hope you do videos on Witch's House, I love these videos and that games my favorite!
Thank you I needed to hear that today. I hope you have a fantastic day as well 😊
13:46 That's what the mask is, That's what the point of the mask is
k but... ayaka might actually be aki's mother. She looks remarkably similar to aki, and aki is heavily implied to be part demon. So, asumming ogre takes advantage of ayakas newfound crush on him, it could be totally possible. Especially since he seems able to manipulate reality as he wishes.
I had a small theory: Onigawara made Ayaka love him so that she would want to work for him. Sounds like something he would do
"it is all about aki and what she is to become in the future, an ogre just like Onigawara"
ohhhhh no no no no no, nope! no! you're not gonna make our girl Aki bald like him, no, we're not gonna let you do that....
22:22 ngl if an immortal human-like being saved/revived me I would also fall for him XD
Why is nobody questioning the fact that in the remake version of the game Mr. Sohta's name was changed to Mr. Kurata? But yeah, this game changed a lot ver since I've last seen it. 0:
Yeah.. I totally forgot that was his name. But once people started mentioning it, I had a flash from the past! God I remember when he was called that :00 !
