Hi Chloe ! Lovely surprise this morning to see this video. I hope everything is good with you & as always, you're worth the wait. I hope you enjoyed your climb up Meall a Bhuchaille. I climbed up from Ryvoan bothy & then continued along the ridge to Cregan Gorm & Craiggowrie before descending back to the Reindeer centre. That was on my last trip there in 2020. Fantastic shot of that Crossbill. I've heard them & MIGHT have seen one but it's so hard to identify species in the thick pine canopy in the Rothiemurchus & Abernethy forests as you know. And there's the Scottish Crossbill ! Lord knows how you'd tell the difference ! I've missed you so much but please only make your video's at the pace which suits you - it shouldn't feel like a job. See you next time my friend x

Hi Michael! Really lovely to talk again. All is well with me... I got myself a little burned out hence the break, but now I feel re energised again. Thank you for your comment at pacing videos as suits me, I will definitely be doing that going forward to make this sustainable, so it's lovely to have your support. I was wondering if you'd recognise Meall a Bhuchaille! You've always recognised everywhere I've been in the Cairngorms so far. I did consider including its name in my voice over, but blow me down if I know how to pronounce it! You are spot on... spotting any bird can be a bit of a trial in the thick pine forests, let alone a Crossbill. My friend who's a bird whizz says the only real way to tell all the species apart is their calls, but that's way above my current knowledge level of them! x

Some parts of Scotland remind me of parts of my beloved mountains over here, but it does seem strange with the lack of trees. (7.30). Our bush line goes up to 1200+ m. Enjoyed the relaxing video and your relaxing voice and verbal playful poetry. ATB Cheers from the mountains of NZ 😀😀

    • @ChloeRoseHarrison
      @ChloeRoseHarrison  Год назад

Yes, the lack of trees is not natural at all... Scotland is beautiful, but most of it is a very man-made landscape. It should be covered in trees, but most of them were cleared out long ago, so all the slopes tend to be open. There are a lot of projects to reforest the land, but naturally, that will take a lot of time! Thank you, I always love hearing from you! 😀

Aw Chloe fantastic to see you back with a brilliant video and as usual a beautiful narration!
Loved it, fresh snow and mountains; and a Seal thrown in for good measure.
I work part time in a Christian retreat / guest house, and do the gardens on the grounds.
And I love my visitation from the local Robin always waiting for me to turn the soil; I always find it a privilage when they will come so close.
I have not been in Lossiemouth for years, and used to visit a friend in Elgin which is a lovely wee town up there.
Again Chloe thanks for sharing this with us and your wonderful videos which are always done with love and care. Love out to you and the family.
    God bless.

Thank you so much Daniel - it's lovely to be back! Robins do feel rather special don't they. I think we have a tendency to overlook the more common birds simply because they are always around, but robins seem to have bypassed that and always steal our hearts. I absolutely love watching them, especially the one that lives in my garden and guards it ferociously! What are the chances... I actually live in Elgin! So you know my area quite well. It's a pleasure to share these little trips with you... thank you truly for taking the time to watch them. All the very best to you :)

@@ChloeRoseHarrison Wow small world, and you have a perfect area there to explore plenty of places. So glad you are setling in so well up here in Scotland. And you are right, we ovelook those less terratorial birds that one glance and they are off.
Where the Robin and his/her terratorial nature is less shy.
We have a female pheasant who is quite tame and comes pritty close to me also in the garden.
You also have Elgin Cathedral and I believe
from what I remember some kind of mill.

@@daniel.d2150 It really is a small world! Yes we have the cathedral (or what's left of it!), but what I really love most of all about the town is its location, so well placed to explore so many wonderful areas of Scotland. I love the sound of pheasants, I really associate it with spring/summer and rural areas. But I've never get close to any before, they always fly away! @@ChloeRoseHarrison Breaks are totally necessary and we all understand. ;) And life just gets busy also. But know we all enjoy your vids. No, we've had a very strange- but nice- winter here. The severe arctic blast aside Christmas week we've had a very mild winter with little to no snow. Rain mostly and above freezing, hence a lot of mud. Our temps have been running from just above freezing to some days, single days in the range of 22 to 24c. And again what would or should have normally been snow events has been rain and 3 to 5c. Wet miserable conditions as you experienced the one trip. The warm days are random and undependable or I'd be out in them. None-the-less, mid to late March is our usual break in weather and able to get out to the normal trips. Maybe, Just maybe, we'll have our sometimes usual "March snowstorm" and I'll get my snow camp in yet. Always look forward to yours. Great narration and scene vids. Keep up the good work.

@@tentcampingwiththeoldfolks Wow, that's a lot of variation in temperature, especially for winter time. That weather sounds a lot like my experience of winters in the south of england - we've mostly lost the colder temperatures now, so there's just a lot of rain. We are still due a March snowstorm ourselves, but I'm not sure it'll come. Maybe we both have one last chance for proper snow, who knows! I always get excited this time of year for the change into spring though... so much to look forward to. Thank for your kind words, they make me smile 🙂
