There is truly something to be said for a chalky periwinkle color. No, I'm serious. It has a soft-focused, light-diffusing quality to it. The matte, blown-out shade would be stunning on any skin tone, I just--ugh it's so pretty, and I haven't seen any modern matte formulas do that.
I used to have a picture of my mother with that exact shade, the chalky periwinkle on her eyes (lost in a fire). I remember it very well and it certainly looked good on her. She had seafoam green colored eyes. So beautiful! Thanks for reminding me ☺️

This makes me wanna cry bc my grandma always talked about how she always wore fake lashes, eyeshadow, liner, and had her hair up in big messy curls. She’s always my inspiration and I love that your using actual makeup from her time!
My mom loved her subtle teal shadow and frosted peach lipstick. She also had black eyeliner in a pan and it had to be damp to go on and she used brushes from the art store.
And the dry mascara that looked like eyeshadow with the little brush that looked like a baby toothbrush. My mother would lightly wet the mascara and rub the brush in it until it was the right consistency. It dried on the lashes softly and naturally. Looked pretty. I've never seen tube mascara that looked so soft and feathery... Tube mascara is clumpy and stiff and crappy looking.

When I was a kid my mom had these little tubes of cream eyeshadow. One light green, one light blue and one light yellow. When I decided I was old enough to start wearing makeup those became MY eyeshadows. 💚💙💛

Vintage makeup is legit sooooo much better then a lot of what we have now. I loved my grandmas makeup as a kid. She had some stuff from the 50s an 60s that I had to unpackage because it had never been opened. Nail polish, eye lashes, eyeshadows, even some lip sticks. Sooo pretty. Wish I wouldn’t have played in it as a kid and actually saved it. The bottles were so pretty.
I’m the annoying person but iv seen you use a lot of vintage makeup and it has me worried a tad because of the ingredients used back then. We learned about it in the history of makeup in beauty school 😅

The same with my great aunt, though I didnt know her as long. When I first started doing my makeup, I got two old pallets from my mom that was from like the mid 70's. Crazy pigmented! Like way more than most modern shadows! Used then for years without any issues. Then I expanded my collection and forgot about them until a few years ago. I did throw them out then though. I think.. May have saved one just because..

I had some Mary Kay sales lady try telling me that mascara should only be used for 3 months LOL… unless you have sensitive skin or a product looks separated and moldy, just test it on a patch of skin and you’ll be FINE.
I throw mine out when its empty. Mary kay And Mac are awesome products also Morph too. Just get a little at a time you'll have everything before you know it.

@@Nanavegeta the problem with expired make-up is the preservatives lose effectiveness, so maybe you've been lucky or you've had a stable pH, or been SUPER careful, but that doesn't guarantee you'll never get an infection. Maybe you won't, but you can't be sure of that. Still, powder make-up have less ground for growing mold or bacteria...
I fully agree! Why not use sthg that is so gorgeous? And I am sure powders are pretty safe to use for decades to come. One reason why I mainly colleect powder products. But I find that even creme products can be used way longer than stated on the box. It would be a disaster to throw out perfectly good products just because someone telly me to. I can see and feel when stg is really bad. And then I won't put it on my skin anymore. But until then...I am 100% with you!!!

ELF have a mini palette Acai you /Toi-cai that has a chalky peri- winkle colour in it if u wanter to try recreate
maybe try looking within Asian makeup brands? Western cosmetics favor intense pigment which doesn't seem to suit these looks.
The elf brand Cookies and Cream eyeshadow palette has a blue shadow really similar to the one in the video!

For all concerned: dry pigments are bad environment for microbes to grow in, so it's no big deal.
And if they are sanitized with rubbing alcohol they are even less so
