- We decided to do a top gear style challenge and see who can catch the most number of fish on a lure from DAISO which cost 2 SGD. This is the first time we're trying this video style and there are bound to be errors. Therefore I hope that the people in the comment section will be forgiving! Stay tuned for more videos!

I would think there is nothing wrong with those lures used in the video. Maybe the fish are kind of pressured there at that place. Spinner baits work nicely for me. I make custom ones that are real small,and weigh around 2.8 grams. Then again,I don't have any peacock bass where I am,and I'm not sure how peacock bass respond to spinner baits. I am positive that snakeheads would smash spinner baits though. Maybe next time you go snakehead fishing try the spinner bait again.
The peacock bass in Singapore is rather skittish, especially in our legal fishing grounds. Thus, I think something like the spinner bait which are normally quite big in profile wouldn't work as well here. Maybe the small ones that you make will have different results.
That spinner bait lure is used in Australia on Murray Cod. Murray Cod are the biggest fish in Australia, growing over 1 meter in length

you are right...spinner bait is very specific...i bought the exact same one and it works well only with snake head. together with chatterbait
Hey nice video. I think you guys should do the same challenge but at a different spot. I believe the $2 lures can work if there are plenty of fishes. You can call it a failure if there are lots of fishes but they aren't that interested. I know you guys have tried pasir ris pond before but if I may suggest, this time try using the $2 daiso lures. lol haha fun video. i have those a few of those daiso minnow style lures. tbh it has a good swim action n managed to get some good fish with it too but i think its a big oversized compared to the rapala slashbait

Xi yuan, you can improve the spinner bait presentation like using a softbait. retrieve in a straight line just for trigger the aggressive fish. but adding some twitch and retrieve is a game changer.
by the way Marcus barely land a fish was epic.

This place is at Pandan Reservoir, but do take note, some of the fishing grounds have been closed and fishing is not allowed there.

Irty's yes there is plenty, for a start only artificial baits are allowed in our reservoirs. Fishing can only be conducted on legal fishing grounds.

Yes, it is true to an extent. Cheap lures catch fish too, however, the more expensive lures are crafted with more precision and are made with materials of better quality. Therefore, the expensive lures might come in handy for more finicky fishes! Thanks for the comment!
More expensive lures will most likely not need to be tuned,and run perfectly out of the box. Some cheaper lures may need to be tuned,and not run straight. There are still plenty of cheaper lures that do run fine out of the package though. I wouldn't think the materials the lures are made of are that different depending the the price,but the engineering going into it and how they perform is more or less,what you are paying for.
