Red Deer International Airshow 1989.
I was a cameraman on occasion for a local Calgary TV/FM Station.
I asked my boss Joyce, if I could Produce and Shoot an Airshow that was coming up in Red Deer AB. She said, sure as long as I can come.
The weather was humid with a thin overcast, which wasn’t favourable for quality photography.
My Host that was to do the interviews was a no-show. The show must go on so I had to step into the other side of the camera lens and perform my first time on a mic. So don’t be to critical :-)
This Airshow was shot with a “Sony Hi 8”video camera, transferred to 3/4in tape, edited onto another 3/4in tape so as to air on TV.
Years later the TV station was going out of business and prior to destroying all their tapes was kind enough to transfer this video onto VHS and presented it to me with all rights.
Decades later I had this VHS transferred to DVD and recently ran it through iMovie to reduce the length. Being fifth-generation and poor visibility the quality of this video is inferior but informative and I thought would be entertaining to the viewer.
One of the performers at this airshow holds a World Record and another performer is a very well known aerobatic pilot and you may recognize the name.
