Matthew Lesh answered his question, but Jolly was hell bent on trying to demean him so didn't bother listening.
He asked Lesh when it has worked and Lesh said whenever you free up regulations, cut taxes, you get better prosperity. "That's just waffle." Eeerrr, no it isn't Jolly. Numerous countries have done and are doing it.

I made the mistake of fighting for socialism all my life, I was hated and threatened for arguing for social justice, I'm now hated for defending working class migrants. It's much easier to see the working class as a lower life form and not fight for them to have quality life, there should be no food banks, let them scavenge and eat out of wheelie bins, they love it,

@@colinstephenson5386 Fight for social justice for the working class and they will protect the rich. Let me take an example of a couple of lowly paid presenters:
How much are Ant and Dec worth?
The net worth of the popular presenters is reported to be £62 million each.
They signed a £40 million three-year deal with ITV last year, according to The Sun.
The deal includes presenting family favourites like Britain’s Got Talent, I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! and Saturday Night Takeaway.
This deal is expected to be worth £50 million but the exact amount is unknown.
Now if I was to suggest that they only need £2 million each to live on and the rest should go to the NHS and social care the poor would absolutely hate me, they would want to knock the shit out of me. This the working class mentality you are dealing with. Poor Ant and Dec you can't expect them to live on £2 million each. And in the big world of capitalism they are small fries.

The comment about prosperity & wealth created in the 80s under Thatcher is wrong.
People confuse the Thatcher years mislabelling it as a time for “ambition and aspiration” when it was clearly defined by “selfishness and greed”. Privatisation enabled the wealthy to get richer while millions lost their jobs (steel, water, telecom), creating inequality across the population and regions. Thatcher smashed local communities and squandered North Sea oil proceeds (compared to Norway’s Sovereign Wealth Fund)

I would love to see more of Dom Joly confronting politicians. Because of how they completely dismiss him, and figure that he'd not really know that much about politics as he's mostly known for being a comedian.
So many right-wing politicians have tried to take shots at him on social media, and telling him he should stick to comedy. When he not only is extremely intelligent, but spent a good chunk of his adult life focused on and involved in politics. He has a degree in politics, worked as a political producer at Westminster for ITN, and was a diplomat in Eastern Europe.
Channel 4 could easily give him a platform to have a role similar to say Jon Stewart in America, or Ian Hislop here in the UK. As could a major radio station like LBC.

Dom was wrong. The funders of the IEA don't pay them to say whatever they want. They pay them because they *already say those things*. The funding just helps the thinktank to prioritise their campaigns. They are paid to give an air of academic legitimacy to views that would have no legitimacy if the funders simply said it themselves. But people don't work at thinktanks that don't align with their own views already.

I already dislike this man, he thinks Thatcher did good things with the economy and peoples freedoms. She destroyed most of the country so a few could prosper, her policies and police forces took away many rights from those that weren't her type, basically those poorer than average or skilled and unskilled workers in towns that relied on industries she destroyed for ever or even worse sold off to a few individuals and they mostly shipped either the work or the profits abroad.
