I really appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos. As someone who is just starting out with a Seestar S50, these are lifesaver type videos that help me get the most out of my work. Thank you.
My understanding is that the people who developed Graxpert are the ones that integrated it into Siril, no winder it looks so much similar with just some extra options (such as size sample, good one). Thanks 👍
Great video, thank you very much for sharing. A complete beginner here, it did an amazing job on a horrible lights I got. A question, what is that Denoise option about?. CS!
Like always excellent video but I have a question the new version Have a option to select channel link Is That’s for vision or will save something with it thanks
@ The reason ask is because I did both versions on ngc7331 than the one with the link checked actually was more brighter and blowed stars. I don’t know maybe I did something else to it,
I'll have to give this another go. I used it a few times but for the most part I have been happy with the SiriL background extraction. I did recently image the North American nebula and got really lazy with my flats. I was tired and didn't bother getting a white cloth and removing my lens hood so I just did sky flats. The dawn was getting kind of too bright and the flats had way too much gradient as I was pointing to the northeast towards where the sun was coming up. The flats were usable but they did introduce a noticeable gradient. Might be interesting to compare the graxpert extraction to what SiriL did although as a previous comment stated the algorithms are likely pretty similar. I seem to recall SiriL did a good job smoothing out the background.
@@DeepSpaceAstro I did do a quick experiment and did a background extraction using both SiriL and Graxpert on that data. I didn't really dive in too deep. I'm sure there would be a way to get a quantitative assessment... but just looking at the results they seem to have both done a decent job. I do have to say I like the Graxpert interface even though it does add some additional steps. I really like being able to see the background image and it has bit better visualization of the whole process.
For some reason yesterday my SIRIL decided to go weird on me. I tried for 30 minutes to change my directory/location for files and it is stuck on C:/Users/DM/Pictures at the top . A directory I don't even use. It was fine in the morning and then in the afternoon it went weird on me when I went to change to another directory. Someway to contact somebody about this at SIRIL? Thanks....
I can try to help. What exactly is happening? What OS and version of Siril? If you prefer you can post in their support forum. discuss.pixls.us/c/software/siril/34
@@DeepSpaceAstro Well SIRIL appears to have fixed itself. All day yesterday it was still stuck on C:/Users/DM/Pictures for the directory at the top middle of the screen. No matter what folder I clicked on and clicked the open button it stayed on C:/Users/DM/Pictures. This morning I saw your reply and opened SIRIL. Still the same directory. I clicked on the top left Open button, chose my directory for my processed image and the path changed at the top of the screen. Something it should have done two days ago. Thanks for the response though. I've copied the support forum URL and will keep that the next time I have a problem. Keep up the good work and the great videos.
@@DLMVegas Maybe you just typed the wrong word, but you said you clicked the Open button? You mean the blue home button, right? That's the one that sets your working directory. Thanks, glad you found the content helpful.
@@DeepSpaceAstro No I did click the Open button first thing this morning and it changed the home directory. Now I am back to square one again though. I want to change to another directory and it is stuck on the directory I was able to open this morning. I've clicked open on the folder I want and I've clicked the Home button with the new folder in the Open dialog. Still stuck on this other directory. This isn't rocket science. I can click the Home button until my finger is sore. It's not changing to the directory I now want to be in.
OK I quit SIRIL and came back in, Clicked the HOME button and opened the folder I wanted and it did work. Again, thanks for your patience and help. You got mail also.....
I assume you commented on the wrong video? Ah! Such simple oversights yet when it says “lights” no such file it’s confusing when you are not conversant with the logic of how it all operates. So i fixed that and another problem arose but I’m at a different computer at the moment. I just commented on this video because I recognise all your videos are based around Siril so I didn’t think it mattered which specific video I commented on. I’d just watched this one and watch so many. Thanks for the pointer. Appreciated.
Good video but that "electric shock" sound at 2:51 for your little subscription alien is extremely annoying. More than anything it makes me want to unsubscribe so that I never have to hear it again.

Interesting I didn't know that.
I can confirm. The main dev of GrapXpert did implment the same algorithm in Siril :)
Let's get him onboard! 😉

Yeah that's just for your view within GraXpert.

If you saved using the stretched option, that may be why. I'm pretty sure that's just for the view, but maybe somethings changed.

Tried it... I'm not sure how good it is, maybe I'm asking too much for something that is free.
