    It would be really helpful to add a portion for how to drag and drop and expand drum/percussion loops to use as a groove/click track as part of starting a new song recording/project. This would be really helpful for songwriters who need that first, then can begin tracking guide vocals and piano/guitars as an initial framework. Being able to make a template to actually start with a loop track, along with a vocal guide track and key and/or guitar track would be a great tip!

      @@kiddynamite3931 As I said I also used GarageBand and it was very easy to learn and nice but the soundlibrary limitations and effects you can reach is limited in one point thats why when I tested studio one it was may more easier and has larger libs that some other daws. You tell the truth, main thing is the music quality, not the daw u used.

    • @AshleyKampta2
      @AshleyKampta2 Год назад +2

      @@kiddynamite3931 Regarding drum recordings, I wouldn't even use 4 mics to begin with. Just use 2. A stereo pair of overhead mics. 90% of good drum recordings are in the sound of the overhead mics. Once you get a good sound from the overheads, then you can add two more mics, either as a stereo pair for the room (if you want to capture the room), or one mic each for kick and snare (if you want to capture a close-mic recording instead). Thinking more in terms of overhead and room forces you to think about general aspects of drum sound such as overall kit tuning and room treatment, rather than focusing too heavily on the details of mic placement on individual drums. The best sounds always come from a macro-focus on the entire kit first, then dial down to the details when you have the "big picture" sound where you want it. Hope this helps!

    This looks very similar to Cubase - I'm thinking of switching from Cubase due to instability issues and constant errors (despite only 10% of my CPU being used and 20% of RAM being used on a big project). In other words, I have lots of juice in the tank on my machine yet Cubase seems to constantly stall when loading big tracks, usually has to be booted twice and 'serious error' notices out of nowhere. I am ableton LIVE user for about 15 years. I feel very comfortable with that DAW.
    I have to say one thing. STUDIO ONE IS SUPER, SUPER HARD TO LEARN ! After trying for 6+ months I am still very, unproductive and get stuck every single time I try to do something. It seems like I would need a 100 years to learn it ! I do not know whether is it to many features, to complex concept, to cluttered interface, to many macros, to many icons,... I really do not know exactly what makes it so hard, Perhaps my Ableton Live habits... I REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS SOFTWARE but after trying for so many months I am becoming more and more discouraged by the suuuuper slow progress and no resource other than Forum posts to get some help. How many messages one can however post a day ?
    THE PROBLEM IS THAT THERE IS PLENTY OF TUTORIALS ON HOW TO DO THINGS. There are no tutorials or any help how to do, or what to do when one gets stuck !!!
    I ended up many times when something that supposed to work suddenly stopped, something got messed up and I had no idea how to fix it etc. I could only start from scratch (and be so unhappy to waste time again,...). Perhaps for those who use this software for 10+ years it is a second nature but the perspective of learning this software for another 20 years is daunting !
    For NEW COMERS - there is something missing in this program ! CERTAINLY IS.

    So after months of testing, reading articles and so on, I can confirm Studio One still has serious midi jitter issues. What you play is not really what is being recorded.I've run many tests, with other audio interfaces, DAWs, computers, equipment, versions of Studio One. I have even done some clean windows installations, but nothing seems to fix it, so I can only say that Studio One is at fault.
    I have played drums and piano parts, arps and sequencer and the Atom, but no matter what you do, the MIDI notes ALWAYS have MIDI jitter. Some notes are recorded perfectly (a few of them actually), some ohters have midi jitter, placed here and there in a confusing way.I have gone through many tests with collaborators, even programmers and technicians (we even changed settings in the BIOS, system drivers..) but we were not able to fix it for good. There is no solution to this problem. Presonus Studio is a CRAPPY Midi DAW, terrible.

    • @profyle766
      @profyle766 6 месяцев назад

      Still Sounds like some sort of soundcard issue that your having,
      are you saying you can play without any jitters in other DAW's but NOT in studio One?
      possible latency issues which you would have to go into the settings of the DAW, also i would check the windows audio settings, but you probably would have checked that already.

Also how to hook up and use external midi keyboard. As someone who can play in time and lay down tracks that wouldn't need mush editing except for plugins in the bus tracks I don't really care about anything more involved until I get started with that.

      It is still widely used, indeed :)

      The only reason to go higher is to avoid aliasing, but oversampling can avoid that too by oversampling.

    I think this is the hardest DAW TO LEARN. This video has nothing to do with getting started.

      You can slow speed down by using the Gear, Speed function from the RUclips player!

    It would appear AI made this video. Every response to questions in the thread appear canned. Im old school and I need to step into the world of DAW as a working musician that needs to run a few tracks live, kind of sad actually, and all of this appears to be for menu divers, not musicians.

    This well made video will be frustrating for beginners. It says it is "for beginners," but it refers to all sorts of advanced and involved things. It is a sales-type walk through of Studio One, tells you what it does while leaving out how-to information, and brings up more questions than it answers. It is so frustrating to try to begin using this software because of tutorials like this. If you are a beginner you might want to look elsewhere!

    An awful upgrade. Filled with bugs. Nice on 5 track songs, but if like me you have serious 60 track songs, this version will choke. Stay with SO5
