Probably doesn’t count but I saw a neighbor in his casket at his funeral. We called him “Grandpa across the street” definitely miss the stubborn but genuinely kind old bastard. He was gruff but had a big soft spot for kids and people he knew, but you had to be respectful to your elders at all times around him. He was an old fashioned Native American elder.

The hospice one upsets me. The nightshift didn't do their job and that person laid on the floor and died, then laid their face down dead all night. My granny is in home hospice care right now and I'm afraid she will end up in a facility before she dies and people won't take proper care of her.

This is one of the main reasons why we refused to have my grandma in a home, especially after the hospital screwed up. Then the same happened with my dad. The doctor pretty much gave him the option to go to hospice or not see any family because they weren't allowing visitors. He said he might as well go to hospice because he only had about 3 months left anyway and definitely wouldn't live past 6. Funny how he had a miraculous recovery as soon as we pulled him out of there. Hospitals stand to make a crap ton of money for Covid deaths. He had Covid but recovered. That's not even what was killing him, it was cancer, but just because he had it they were going to mark it as a Covid death. This is also why all those numbers are BS. People aren't dying from COVID, they're getting marked that way...but that's a whole other discussion. Anyway, I really feel for those who can't get home hospice care for their loved ones. No one is going to take care of them like family does. I hope your granny is still with you. Mine has sadly passed but she was at home surrounded by her family when she did ❤️

@@GyeongmiBaeb She passed last summer. She had terminal caner. But we were able to care for her at home until the end. It was literally 24hr she had to be watched. So I'm really glad she wasn't at the hospital, they would not have been able to care for her. We were barely able to. I'm sorry about your dad and granny as well. Losing loved ones is never easy.

I work as a physical therapist in a nursing home, and whenever I see a patient I’m supposed to working with sleeping, I always check for a pulse and do a sternal rub of they don’t respond to my voice. I haven’t walked in on a dead person yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened one day.

I have seen and touched human bones and organs before, but the closest I got to an intact dead body was at my Grandmas Funeral.
Initially, I was nervous, my Grandma was there. But being a slightly autistic young lady (mid 20’s) curiosity set it. Plus I was into forensics as a kid so there was that curiosity.
Standing next to the casket was the embalmer. He decided to help since it was a “slow” day and it was only a small funeral.
Mom had mentioned he would be there so sick asked if he had prepared my Grandma. He solemnly said yea.
Thinking, I then blurted “So, how many gallons of formaldehyde did you you put into Grandma”?
The look on his face was priceless😳.
My Mom had to refrain from laughing, saw the stress was making me go into full autistic mode and put her hand on the stunned man’s shoulders and told him,
“My Daughter was into forensics as a kid, I think she has a few questions she would love to ask you”.
Turns out he drained her blood and then put about 2.5 Gallons of formaldehyde in her to slow her decomposition...for maybe 2 or more years.
Yes he used the special hooked contacts to keep her eyes closed and her mouth was stitched shut so her jaw would not flop open during viewing.
At the end he admitted in 22 years of doing his job, he had NEVER had anyone ask him that question before.
I am “normal enough” to have a job and live alone.
I am autistic enough to ask those blunt awkward questions in those kind of situations.
Makes me....weird for most people. But after a while most don’t mind me.

The train one reminded me of when a kid I know unwittingly walked in front of a speeding bus.
(TW for anyone sensitive to this topic but I'm continuing my thought process from above.) I was about 30 feet away in a car and I just froze. The whole world felt so surreal at that instant and it took a long while for me to feel like the world started going again- and when it did it felt wrong. It was hard for a high school student to realize that they just witnessed someone they speak with regularly and were decent friends with would no longer be around and that they had just witnessed their last living moments.

And I didn't even watch the video, I recognized the image and clicked to comment this. The person who made the video had to search for the image or find the original tik tok, save and edit it into a thumbnail, and then upload it with the video. I was coming back from a high school dance and saw the truck in front of us run off the road. We stopped and there were a dozen teens scattered all over the roadway. They had been riding in the back of the truck and were thrown out when it crashed. Most were hurt but alive. I came up to one girl laying in the grass to see if I could do anything for her and saw that she was way beyond help. I could see her brains coming out of her skull split wide open so I covered her head with a towel so the other kids didn't get traumatized like I did. Other people were stopping to help and were trying to move the truck that was upside down in the mud because another girl was trapped underneath it. They pulled her out but she was already gone, her head was badly crushed.
It turned out the 17 year old girl driving had been drinking but she went to the dance to give her 14 year old sister and her friends a ride to an after party. She hit the car in front of her and they both crashed, the truck she was driving rolled several times. The first girl I found? That was her little sister. The other girl was her best friend, she had been sitting next to her in the front seat. She ended up getting 5 years for manslaughter, but they let her do 10 years probation out of pity because they figured the death of her sister and best friend was punishment in itself. Unfortunately she kept drinking and messed up on her probation so she ended up going to prison anyway.

Not me but my dog. I was a child then and only remembered his mouth smells really bad. My parents initially thought maybe he ate a decomposing dead wild chicken or rat so I just bathed him and went about my day. Maybe 3 hours later, my neighbors found the body in their backyard. It was found in a shallow grave that the dogs dug and presumably ate, as a big portion of it's face had been clearly ripped off by fangs. The body was later identified as a 16 year old boy who lived in the same neighborhood, his family weren't looking for him because they thought he went to his mother's place for the whole summer. Turns out, he went partying with the other teenagers and this one drunk guy hit him in the head and buried him in my neighbor's (the whole family was away for summer vacation and the whole place was empty) backyard. I live in a 3rd world country in south east Asia and the dogs, cats and other pets here are pretty much all free range animals, and also murders usually don't get any justice here so the killer who was also a teenager at the time just moved to a different town and he's probably still free to this day.

I spent my high school years in Taipei, Taiwan. and in the summer following my junior year I saw the body of a man who jumped off the top of a 18 story building, three blocks down the street from my apartment. half of his face was shattered and fused to the asphalt from several hours in the 115 degree sun, his limbs were twisted and the the pool of blood around him was unusually thick and starting to dry. Later that night I learned that the man committed suicide at around 9 a.m. but city officials did not remove him from the scene until almost 6 p.m. By then he was so cooked that chunks of him melted into the asphalt and they had to scrape a lot of skin, bone fragments, and muscle off the pavement. Knowing that he died in full public view and was not attended to for so long still saddens me to this day.

Found an old man with Alzheimer’s dead on my trap line when I was 12, really sad because I saw him walking to the store every day, didn’t matter if it was 70f or -40f(alaska) he would walk the 1 mile to the store each and every day, apparently he got turned around and lost during his walk, ended up 3-4 miles out of town in the woods where my trap line was, he followed my snow machine trail all the way to this creek with overflow, where he fell into the slush and died in it. I found him face down frozen into the ice with his bag of frozen groceries.... I went to school with his grandson, poor kid was mentally destroyed. One strange thing was you could see where foxes and lynx walked right up to the body but didn’t try to eat him, being an adult now I’m so glad I didn’t see his face

Halloween 2011. Was in New Orleans with my dad. We were staying at a hotel near the Riverwalk Mall. I was walking down the ramp at the food court end when I spot the security guard at the top of the escalator/elevator. At his feet is a guy face planted into the concrete, his jeans pulled down over his butt cheeks (like that Sagging pants style but with no BVDs underneath. I stopped and asked the security if he needed help (and in case I was somehow a witness) but he waved me on through down the escalator, asking me not to take the elevator (probably the crime scene). At the bottom I see another tourist pushing the elevator button just as I’m hearing sirens heading this way. I tell him to take the escalator because the elevator is temporary off limits. He asked why. I told him he’d know why at the top of the escalator.

The vacation place I go to has a lot of stories like this. One dude got his head completely kicked off by the foot of someone riding a dangling rollercoaster as it was coming down the first hill. It was a restricted area, and he was retrieving a hat that he'd dropped there when he'd been on the ride. Rider broke her leg and went through the entirely looping rollercoaster with it.
(In fact if I'm not mistaken there are multiple happenstances of cases like this there)
Another guy, a LONG time ago, was dragged away by a lion while loading his coworker and friend's daughter into her carseat as the girl's dad closed up shop. Yes, a lion. Dragged him away under the boardwalk, and the girl was so shocked and scared it took her a while to work up the nerve to run back to the boardwalk shop where her dad was to tell him what happened. Teams were sent out and the lion was found under the boardwalk, feasting on that man's carcass. A traveling circus worker (they paraded down the boardwalk, the lion on a caged float of its own), had forgotten tob close the door to the lion's pen when they were wrapping up for the day, and only reported the fact that a LION was now on the loose because of him hours later.
Another girl, in more recent years, fell from the top of the ferris wheel and landed on the pier far below. She was still alive after impact, but not for very long. Now no one is allowed unaccompanied in a ferris wheel booth and there is wire barring filling the space above the initial metal railings and doors. The girl had been there on a field trip, alone in her booth, and probably passed out while looking over the edge and tipped forward.

So, this one is pretty gruesome, though not as bad as some in the video. I watched a man drown in his own blood after a motorcycle crash. He had gotten cut off by a minivan while at a good speed, clipped the curb and got thrown forward into the handlebars, breaking his ribs and causing them to pierce his lungs, before going forward off the bike and rolling a good 10 feet before coming to a stop. I heard the crash and ran to help, but when I got there he was lying face down with thick dark blood pulsing out of his mouth with every heartbeat and his legs pointing the wrong way. He was covered in scrapes and tears, just bloody and broken with more injuries than I could even properly register at the time.Tried to help but there wasnt anything I could do but talk to him and hope he was too far gone to be aware of what was happening. Couldnt move him because then he would absolutely drown and he clearly had severe spinal injuries. Took 15-20 minutes for help to arrive. he was gone by then. His wife was called to the scene and I can still vividly remember her wails of anguish when she saw the pool of blood(they had taken the body away by that point). I remember seeing his helmet in pieces scattered down the road and the screeching metal of the mangled harley being dragged out of the road by volunteer firemen. After all was said and done, I walked back over to the bar where I had been when I heard the crash(I had just gotten off my shift in the kitchen and had been sipping my first beer of the night on the patio while smoking a cigarette). Bartender saw me coming and asked what I to wanted to drink, on the house. I got a double whiskey and spent the next week or two at the bottom of a bottle. Worst part of the aftermath was that I had to walk past where he died to get home every day. They had dumped a pile of cat litter on the spot where he bled out, so I got to see that pile of bloodsoaked cat litter every day for almost a month before the rain washed it away.

my grandma passed away last december and my siblings and i found her body. my 7 year old brother(he's 8 now but was 7 when this happened) laid in bed with her corpse because he was too young to understand that she had died. i'm the only one of my siblings who still feels the trauma of finding her(meaning i show my emotions, whereas my siblings are more emotionally closed off and could be dealing with the trauma quietly in their own ways), and that paired with the grief i feel isn't a good combination so i'm struggling quite a lot with it.

Back in highschool, i just came off the bus and walked over a bridge to school. It was an hour and a 1/2 before school started, terrible connections, so nobody was there with me and pretty dark.
I was listening to some music and had a flashlight with me which i played around with since thete was a small river under the bridge, really really shallow, and it was nice to see it shine when you hold a flashlight on it, but that time there were an human arm and part of a foot.
I didnt believed it first, thought it was some store window puppet thing, but a closer look was all i needed. Called 911 then, they had to park at school so teachers were alerted as well and two came over since they didnt knew what was up.
I gave my witness report and info and went to school. I watch a lot of crimr shows and my mom is a butcher, so it really didnt bother me much but i will not forget the moment i realized what i found.
A week later i was taken out of class and my class teach showed me a newspaper article.
Apparently i found parts of a young women who was killed and chopped to pieces by her stepfather after she refused his advances and threatend to tell her mom/his wife. He thought the river would take care of things but didnt knew it got very shallow near the school.

I grew up in Chicago and not a nice place. I have found several people over the years dead of over doses over the years.
The main one that sticks in my mind was when I was 9 I went to leave for scool one morning and opened our apartment door and a dead guy who was laying against the door fell in.
I remember just stepping over him and yelling "mom theres a dead guy in the hall I can't shut the door". And just leaving.
He was gone when I got back.
Yeah I had a fun childhood if you can't tell.

I stopped at an all night McDonald's to relieve myself. The men's lavatory had a urinal and a toilet. Thinking there was nobody in the toilet stall, I opened the door and found a man sitting on the toilet with a hyoerdermic needle in his arm. He was defecating, urinating, and vomiting all at once while unconscious. It turned out the man was dead from a heroin overdose. But the medics could not move him because all his orifices were spewing waste. The dead man was considered hazardous waste. A hazardous materials removal unit showed up. They bagged the corpse in two white bags and one black bag. Then they removed the carcass. They returned with what appeared to be canister vacuum cleaners made of stainless steel. I think they used the vacuums to clean up the human waste. I do remember when I opened the door jtwss a disgusting mess. But when I went back it, the lavatory was spotless.

On September 17th 2011 it was sometime around 6 in the morning. I suddenly hear my older brother make a really horrible sound from the backyard. I was living in the downstairs apartment of his house. I stood up on my bed to look out the casement window and I saw my youngest brother hanging from the swing set. I got up and ran towards the front door of the apartment that let into the garage, I know for a fact that I was screaming the whole way and I'm pretty sure I passed out three or four times. I remember my vision going black and getting back up. As I was coming around the side of the garage my brother had come to stop me from getting into the backyard and we slammed into each other and he just hugged me. It's hard to remember what happened at that moment but I'm pretty sure he said: "he's gone, he's gone!" In a really choked up voice. He still went and perform CPR until the paramedics came. Not an easy thing to remember

About 6-7 years ago when I was in the 6th grade, I was on the school bus on a really foggy morning heading to school in my town just outside Toronto. The bus was full of kids from grades K-8 when we saw lots of flashing lights, and when we got up to where they were, police were taping off the road ahead and we could see them laying a tarp over a body. He had been struck while crossing the road in the fog and his mangled bike was laying in the parking lot across the road. Definitely an unusual excuse to being late for class that day.

when I was 15, my group of friends and I were doing our regular dumpster diving. None of us really had money to spend so we just would look for decent clothes, shoes, makeup, etc. that had been thrown out but still in good condition. Anyways, it was one of the girl's birthdays so we were out doing it, and we always climbed into the dumpster to search around while one person stayed on the outside to catch any boxes or things they wanted from there. (Climbing in wasn't gross because the places we went didn't throw out food or trash or anything they were always just full of boxes and whatever items they threw out)
This particular time I was the one staying outside of the dumpster. But it smelled absolutely awful even from outside, which was weird. So, my friends climbed in and after maybe ten seconds of being in there they started screaming and jumped out. Turned out some girl's body was discarded there and was just under some boxes. We were obviously scared as fuck and didn't want to get in trouble for being there. But we called the cops anyways and they just let us go not that long after they showed up. Still don't know who she was or what happened to her though.

my health/PE teacher told us him and his pals were on their way back from a fishing trip and as they were walking down the trail to get to their vehicle they saw a woman paniking and she ran up to them and told them her friend she was on a run with had slipped and fallen off of a nearby cliff (I assume it was maybe a 20ft drop) and my health teacher, haven taken many years of health training climbed down to the woman. He said she looked like she was probably already dead but he checked her pulse. No pulse. So, he started preforming CPR and as he went to push down on her chest he said that there was a massive crunch that sounded like spaghetti noodles breaking, which were her rib bones, and he knew she was long gone. They called the police and they took all their statements. Told us it was the most traumatizing thing he ever experienced

Went swimming in the Tennessee river one day back in 1984; There was a nother family there and they were in the water playing with a frisbee. One of the kids threw it to the dad ,, it landed a couple of feet From him so he hopped over to get it. The next thing I knew he was bobbing up and down yelling for help. The family was just standing around not bothered by it. I said to the mom, he's drowning, but she said he does that all the time and that was the last time he came up. I dove in right where he went down and tried to save him, but could not find him. Two hours later, they pulled him out about 10 feet from where he went down. It was so sad. You never know when your time is coming, so you need to always be ready. But this also reminds me of the little boy who cried wolf.

My husband does pest control and has a lot of elderly customers. One day he went to an old woman's house and she wasn't answering the door like she normally did. So he peeked in and saw her sitting in a chair with her head hanging down, jaw slack, and looking quite dead. He tried to make a LOT of noise to wake her, but to no avail. He came into the house (door unlocked) and continued make a lot of noise trying to wake her. No dice.
So he called her daughter on the phone, but the daughter didn't answer, so he left a voicemail. He continued for quite some time (about 20 min) trying to wake her, beginning to fear she was dead. Finally, after all this time, she woke up, quite startled. She was very apologetic for putting him through that scare.
Eventually the daughter called him back as he was driving and told him that her mom takes medication that can knock her for a loop and make her look dead.
So far he hasn't had to find any of his customers dead, but he has lost quite a few over the years - one a few months ago to COVID.

I grew up in an apartment complex filled with single mothers with kids and one of my best friends lived downstairs from me with her mother and sister. It was a Saturday morning. I was 12 years old. I ran downstairs to see if she wanted to walk to the store for candy. Her mom opened the door a sliver, which was weird since I was at her house daily. She told me my friend was at her dad's for the weekend. Right, I forgot. I left and walked to the store and as I was walking through the apartment parking lot I saw fire engines, ambulances and police flying by. My mother came running and grabbed me, hysterical, asking where I went. I was confused.
After I left the apartment of my friend apparently her mother's ex-husband (not my friend's father but a second ex) had been in her apartment under the guise of moving out of state and wanting to drop off some of her belongings. The woman was babysitting a three year old little girl. The ex shot her in the face and she was able to run into the hallway. As she stumbled down the hallway trying to get away he came out and shot her in the back of the head. He went back into the apartment and the little girl came out of the bedroom from where she was playing and she asked him "What are you doing?" to which he put the gun in his mouth and blew his brains out in front of her.
She survived, collapsing all the way down the hallway in front of the laundry room. A giant blood stain was left at the entrance of the laundry room and the manager, a real dick head who was married, refused to change out the carpet so for months when any of us, including the woman's daughters had to do laundry we would leap over it to avoid it. I did not see anybody dead, but I saw the aftermath...the smeared bloody handprints down both sides of the hallway. The blood spatter everywhere. That is probably the closest I have come to death. I was too young to understand the trauma so I don't think it affected me as much as it would have if I'd seen it today.
The woman died about a year ago after living for 30 years with the bullets lodged in her head. She was never quite the same.

I came home from 6 days away and found my dad had passed right before I left my home..
It was over 90 degrees that week... my phone was dead and I had to run to the neighbor. I then watched first responders lose their shit and throwing up in my bushes..
The only thing that makes me ok is knowing my last words to him were along the lines of I love you sweet dreams...
I'd seen him "sleeping" across his bed as I left home.. he was in the same position as when I got home and found him. My poor dogs had been home with no food, water or potty breaks for 6 days.. thank God they're ok. The dog him and I adopted as a pup is still alive and well, and under my care...
Sending love and light to anyone who has found someone.
If you've lost a loved one, when their voice and laugh is impossible to pull up, stop searching.. they'll come to you when you need most or least expect. It wasnt until I relaxed about it, that I found it. Xox

I thankfully haven't seen any human bodies, but I somewhat recently I walked in on my dead puppy.
We had gotten him maybe a week before, he was a small dog and was pretty young. Well, he apparently had an issue at birth, not sure what it was. I was doing online school, and it was my break when i found out. I had walked into the room before school and saw him, i thought he was sleeping. During my break my mom told me. He had died somewhat recently because when my mom checked on him his body was still kind of warm.
I've seen the dead body of my grandma's dog before, but this one was worse because he was so young and I got a better look at his body than my grandma's dog.

I've found three. One was an older lady who had apparently passed while on the side of her house where there was a boat. The police and others showed up and it was surreal to see her lying face down on the gravel between the boat and the house while the family came out to the front yard in distress. That was several years back. Next was a guy in a wheel chair at a bus stop right across the street from the next one. The most recent was March or April of 2020 just when the covid era was kicking off, I found a guy in the narrow lawn area that you often find between grocery store parking lots and the road. This guy was half on the grass and half on the concrete, expired.

Maybe not very random, but my step mom found her brother dead of a pulmonary embolism. She got him to a doctor a few days earlier for weakness, shortness of breath and chest pain and they "diagnosed" him with an MI without doing a blood test (which they are supposed to do but almost never do in Poland). They have him some kind of MI meds and send him home, only for the meds to not work and for him to die at 57yo and for his sister to deal with the fourth death in her closest family (she is the last one alive except for her children) and third where she had to organize the whole funeral etc. (the first death was her sister, when my step mom was 11 and the sister 19) and the other 3 were within 8 years. (dad, mom, and that brother)
