  • Today, we discuss the United Methodist Church's recent decision to allow the ordination of self-proclaimed homosexuals as well as same-sex "marriage." The United Methodist Church has struggled with this issue for the past few years and even strengthened its position on traditional marriage in 2019. So, what changed? Plus, the Met Gala was last night, and it featured some stunning and ... interesting fashion choices for us to review.

      elijeremiah: 100% agree with you.
Does scripture state that homosexuality is a sin?
      Yes.
Does scripture state that adultery is a sin? Yes.
All the sins are named in the Bible, without ANY ambivalence.
Is repentance of our sins a condition of salvation? Yes.
And what does repentence require? It requires that we admit to each of our sins, and promise to avoid those particular sins in the future.
No where in scripture are we given permission to wilfully continue those sins.
Any church body (denomination) giving permission to continue homosexual sin within the body of Christ, is heretical.
Let's be clear: The issue is not human desires, it's human action.
All the preaching about "love," or "tolerance," or "acceptance," by these heretical churches, is nothing more than an effort to increase church membership and appear virtuous.
So what are our alternatives if our church is engaging in the enabling of sin?
Make our best effort to reform the church, and if it's not happening, we must leave that church. To remain is consent, whether we admit it or not.
We are called upon to help each be righteous, not asked to enable sin.
Lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig.
The person we lie to the most, is ourselves.

They echo Martin Luther's words : " Unless I am convinced by the testimony of the Scriptures or by clear reason (for I do not trust either in the pope or in the councils alone, since it is well known that they have often erred and contradicted themselves), I am bound by the Scriptures I have quoted, and my conscience is captive to the Word of God.". I just hope that you as Protestants can se what is gong on here. They should be excomunicated from Christendom, because they are not Christian anymore. But how would they be excommunictaed? I was at a free lunch for the needy and the pastor have a nice sermon and said, anyone have any questions? A young man said he did and asked something about the Holy Spirit.
The pastor's jaw worked, like he was angry about something, and he said, I'll answer it later after the lunch. He never did. He had been in ministry for years and always dismissed the Holy Spirit, any of that tongue talking nonsense, healing, prophecy.
He had an older lay pastor who corrupted his assistant pastor sexually, and he should have seen it. I could go on, but church was just a habit for these people, they were really quite lukewarm. I don't know where they are with this latest development but I had to distance my self from them, one ex friend was getting into weird serpentine labyrinths, all sorts of weird stuff going on.
The pastor started asking one if the uneducated welfare women who came to free church meals, about that Holy Spirit stuff. She wouldn't tell them anything, they were not really nice to her and treated her badly.

It is NOTHING but sexualizing children. To (try to) make everyone introduce themselves by ADVERTISING THEIR SEXUALITY...what in the world??? Some may say "no! It's not about sexuality...it's just being able to love who you want"...uh, no. Let's say you are a gay woman...who you LOVE is not the same as WHO YOU SHARE A SEXUAL BED WITH. I am straight...and I love plenty of other females...my daughter, my mother, my close female friends...but I do not have to DECLARE MY LOVE FOR THESE PEOPLE EVERY TIME I INTRODUCE MYSELF. So why must they insinuate right off the bat WHO THEY PREFER TO SLEEP WITH?? That is confusing for children. Why? Because the children ask...what is gay? What does it mean? And you have to explain to them...they love another woman/man, whatever...but it's NOT JUST THAT THEY LOVE THEM...after all, straight people love other people who they are not sleeping with. So then the children figure out quickly that there is something else...a different meaning of "love"...so then you have to explain what they mean by "love". NO! I'm not doing that. This is about erasing children's innocence for these crazy people's sins.

It does not matter what religion a person is in because what matters is the true saving grace of God and Jesus being the true saving grace, believing is what matters. All religions have fallen short of what God intended for religion to be and every church sets its own doctrines, regardless of the religion. As you state so about the methodist religion, same can be applied to the catholic religion and honestly there are far worse doctrines in the catholic religion than others.
I do not say this to condone any religion above another because all religions are fallen in some ways, sort of fashion and God is not please with the way mankind has taking it upon itself the man-made traditions and doctrines that it has and calling another religion at fault yet being in the same cup of fault in a different subject.
The best thing a person can do for self is to step out of the religion mindset and step into the embrace of the truth Word of God the Bible and foremost believe God and ask Him for His wisdom and being the way maker that mankind religion would be the last thing on the mind.
Anyhow, please know am not judging in any way, simply stating what was on my heart to profess and do what you will with it but may God Himself be the way maker for you and your loved ones, in Jesus name, Amen.

Unlike Trent horn I was raised with no religion. About 35 or so I ended up in the church of Christ. Least they held to the Bible. But like Trent. I'm a Catholic convert. And like him orthodox, but not necessarily Rad trad This thing with a methodist church is very sad. They are throwing out scripture. As the Episcopal Church did when I was part of it. There seems to be a move within all churches.
2 accept perversion. It is called Cowardice. I don't know what else to call it. It is people too afraid to stand for the truth Scriptures, say there will come a time when the love of many will grow cold. I believe we are at that point. But I'll say one thing, Christians of all denominations better wake up.
Instead of condemning one another to hell as it was when I was in the church of Christ.
And stand against what's going on in our society. We are now living in a post Christian era, and if we don't wake up, there will be no Christians left.

This is why God is not with any religion because all religions have become nothing more than a building with the name of God stuck on it yet on the inside so many souls are lost because they know not the grace of Christ. Sin is sin and regardless of the sin, small or great, it is sin in the sight of God and the only way a person is washed clean, it is by the grace of Jesus whom is God.
Holy Spirit is stuck in the back pocket by many so called christians and thus it is why so many have no growth in their walk with Christ and at the same time have no true understanding of the saving grace of God which actually saves.

@@ohthankg-dforthebourgeoisi9800 Well if people aren't getting born again and don't think that Christ's blood atonement and resurrection is what saved us and think they are going to somehow earn their way, there will continue to be division. This is why I've never belonged to a denomination; traditions are held in the same esteem or even above Christ. A lot of traditions in churches have become idols to those churches. It doesn’t help that we are living in the time of apostasy. Finding a church that isn’t blasphemous, lukewarm, or heretical is quite difficult. The gospel is actually very simple, but man has tried it’s best to make it extremely difficult. When we are born again we are a new creation.

But the only reason I am even at this church is because I was made unwelcome at the Baptist church I formerly attended because I would not make conservative politics my life priority. Most conservative churches in America have bowed the knee to political conservatism and hyper-individualist philosophy (Objectivism, etc.) the same way the liberal churches have bowed the knee to political progressivism and socialist philosophy (Marxism, etc.) Both approaches are utterly unbiblical. Politics OWNS our churches today. It is a golden calf that American Christians worship. And we use it to divide us into camps that we seek to destroy at all costs. I hate this idol. And I hate that it is more important than anything to us. I will not bow my knee to either Old Glory or the Rainbow flag. POLITICS IS NOT OUR PURPOSE IN LIFE!!!

I grew up in the United Methodist Church. I was confirmed when I was 12. I left that church because I saw no love in most of the congregation. My Dad was on the administrative Board and he was always talking about how petty the other board members were. I was a certified lay minister as well. To say that I am disgusted by this turn of events is a gross understatement... but truthfully I am not surprised.
Many of the mainstream "Christian" denominations are apostate in varying degrees. But that is like being "just a little bit pregnant". The fruit tells the story. And it is distressing. The lack of love and compassion is horrifying. The pharisaical self righteousness and condemnation is so very prominent in many of these congregations. BUT... it seems that they have no discernment either. And they fall into a pit that come from not being able to discern that loving others does not mean condoning their sin. You can love and have compassion for hurting people without condoning their behavior.
I treat everyone with dignity and respect. I am fully aware that I am a sinner and that "but the grace of God there goeth I" so I do not condemn anyone. That is for God alone. But I will not condone sin. If the sin is exposed then it has to be a part of the equation. You do not just accept detrimental behaviors. They may believe that it doesn't hurt anyone but that is a clever deception by the Adversary. A good parent does not condone bad behavior but they also do not shun their child and berate them mercilessly. In some case the child doesn't know why what they did is so wrong. They lack the ability to sort through the ramifications and ripple effects of their actions. This is true with people in persistent sin. They are blinded by their desires as to why it is harmful to them and others.
I have known many homosexuals ( they aren't gay or lesbian... they are homosexual...period ) and under the veneer of outward contentment they are miserable. Some of the most broken people I have ever known were in that boat. And sadly they lash out at others for "judging" them when the true judgement lies within them. They know deep down something is wrong but they feel helpless to do anything about it. This is the secret harm of these behaviors.
People who think they should have been born the opposite sex are not healthy. It is wrong to ignore the symptoms of any sickness. If you have a disability that may develop into something life threatening, you do not hide it just because "people may talk". You seek treatment. I am sorry but the "trans" movement is a mental health issue. And nothing we do will help it until the illness is recognized and addressed.
The UMC has fallen in the pit by condoning a detrimental behavior. If someone that identifies as LGBTQ attends your church service you should treat them with dignity and respect. You should not shun them at all. BUT you must not affirm their behavior either. If a junkie wanders in off the street it would be the same thing. Love, compassion, dignity and respect but you DO NOT affirm their drug use! You show them a better way. You rely on the transformative power of the Almighty King of the Universe to help you HELP THEM. God can do ANYTHING. Our faith is the limitation not His power.
Shame on the congregations of the UMC for letting this come to this point. The saltiness has gone from your faith. God can forgive anything. I beg you to rexamine your choices and lay them at the foot of the cross. The demnination may be dead but you are redeemable until the moment of death.

There were clergy who had taken vows and then when they became pastors or bishops, they openly denounced those vows. And instead of removing them, which was in the Book of Discipline, the LGBTQ+ refused to go and the conference bowed down because they didn't want that negative press. So now it's been taken over. It's heartbreaking that they have purposely split the church in order to blend onto the world vs God's Word.

I was raised in a united Methodist church. My home church broke away from the United Methodists in the recent split. It breaks my heart that there is so much sin and turmoil in my home church denomination even though I have gone to a Baptist church for years.

I was raised in The Methodist church and left right after Covid. I am very saddened by this. It is not the same church. I believe what is in the Bible. I am now going to a reformed church.

There aren't different ways to enter Heaven (Catholicism, Mormonism, Orthodoxes, Lutherans, Jehovah's Witnesses, Methodists, etc...), there is only one way to Heaven (Christianity of the Bible).
Please, repent before it is too late.

I can certainly agree true repentance is not discussed nearly enough. Unfortunately, too many are too narcissistic to sew their need for that type of walking away from sin.

This is the type of stuff that pushed me to the Catholic Church. At some point, there is always an issue with Authority.
Gay pastors interpret the word of God “their” way. Apostolic succession is there for a reason.
So is the magesterium (However that’s spelled)

Beginning in 2000, my husband attended Seminary and was ordained a Local Pastor for the next 10 years. Fortuitously, in 2010, he decided to join the National Guard as a FT Chaplain, a position he held for the next 12 years. Also in 2010 came the Big UMC split. The conservative side, which consists of many devout and godly ministers, ministry families, and congregants. The conservatives were deemed “The Confessing Movement”. It was such a shock to see the split occur. All Christians should pray for the remnant of Methodists who lost everything in the split, including their name. God be praised, HE will always hold them in His hand.

As a former UMC member, when my former church voted whether or not to stay with the Methodist church they did so in a sneaky way. We had a vote planned when the bishop came in and said we were not properly educated on why we needed to change things to be more inclusive. Then they planned to vote in a time that most conservative members could not attend and pulled all stings and brought in “members” that are very liberal. Most never actually attended church. Over half of the church left including the Paster. I’m very happy with our new church. Which is mostly comprised of the UMC members that left the left.

This is what will happen to most of the UMC they think they can drag their membership into this filth but true Christians will just leave and allow them to wallow in their filthy lifestyle until they grow tired of playing church and decide to attack some other institution.

Hi Alley, I respect your standing up for our Christian faith in this crazy time. I am a 67-year Christian, saved at 33. This is such an important show. Im wondering why you feel you have to mention outfits at the Met gala? I really think most people really dont care. Do YOU really care? Please don't do it just to try to be relevant. You should know that we could go to NBC or ABC or NPR if we wanted to hear about that. Suggestion: Find fun things happening in the community, heart-warming stuff that fits so much better on your show. Thanks for listening!

i am glad to be an Orthodox Christian. this is what happens when you ignore church history and oral tradition. i do not know what Protestants expect to happen to their churches other than this. may God have mercy on us all

My family is switching to Orthodox. Our former church left UMC in 2019 and became nondenominational.
