I agree with you in my experiance with trying to use them. I have been using fiber glass insulation under my pans since the 1980s and that is all I will use. Do I miss an animal ocassionaly yes, but not very often. Thanks for sharing your experiance. Al
Great video brother! I personally run the 550 style and now the 650 style without pan covers. I feel they set low enough or close enough to the frame that nothing big is going to get in there. That’s just my take on that style of trap. I absolutely think they’re necessary on the others though. Just my two cents. Lol tight chains
Not a cover guy . I use peat moss under my pants, with great luck. 1/4" wax under the trap . Peat under the pan and top with wax dirt. But you must screen your peat moss, because of little sticks.
Question... why would you not make a dye that fits the inside of the jaws of your MB550 and the corners of the cover go under the jaws? This would in effect increase kill area and function in the manner you're explaining. If the raised part of the cover is even with the pan and the edges go under the jaws it should work much better.
@@motrapper4273 essentially a table of screen with the corners as legs that fills the whole jaw spread. Or modify it in the shape of an expandapan for 550's
Awesome video and information, glad i found this. New sub

Great video!!! Who has the video again who makes the dye for steel pan covers?

Not sure what you mean, you’ve described exactly how these fit the trap. The pan sits higher than the bottom of the jaws.
@@motrapper4273 pretty much the same thing you did but the screen would be bent so it covers the whole inside area of the jaws and not just the pan.
