- Hi Walkers, per request by @To Co , let's walk around the Frankfurt Bahnhofsviertel and the Red Light District Area at dusk. We begin our walk from Hauptbahnhof just minutes before Sunset and zig-zag the Bahnhofsviertel accordingly.
The Bahnhofsviertel, (literally: train station quarter) is a quarter of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It is part of the Ortsbezirk Innenstadt I.
The Bahnhofsviertel was developed between 1891 and 1915. Along with the Westend, the Nordend and the Ostend, it is part of Frankfurt's dense inner city districts. The Bahnhofsviertel is known as one of Frankfurt's main entertainment and red-light districts (the latter esp. around Taunusstrasse), along with Alt-Sachsenhausen south of the river Main.

So ist es. Jugendstil Fassaden, grosszüge Altbauten, perfekte Lage am Benkenviertel, nahe Innenstadt und Westend..
Es ist politisch gewollt: Drogenkonsum und Kriminalität werden toleriert. Durch Metadonausgabestellen und Fixerstuben wird dafür gesorgt, dass sich die Szene verfestigt. Und durch den kontinuierlichen ungeregelten Zuzug prekärer Schichten aus dem aussereuropäischen Ausland wird dafür gesorgt, dass die demographische Lage weiter kippt.
Aber die Frankfurter und Deutschen wollen es anscheinend nicht anders...

Great video!!! I used to live in Hanau and would always catch the train down to Frankfurt. This was 1995 to 2000 there was a bar inside the Bahnhof I used to have a few drinks there then walk around the Red light area. Great times for a young man with time on his hands. I miss and love Germany so much not one bad word to say. Hope one day I can return for a little bit. Thank you for this outstanding video

I lived there for almost two years completely homeless hooked on crack and heroin and got deported back to Bosnia about five months ago and actually today i am still struggling, still hooked on H and as of right now i sold the only thing i had left which was my car for 400 euros and hopped on a bus that was yesterday since its passed midnight as of right now to go back but i got stopped and turned back at the Bosnian/Croatian border by the police cuz i have a two year ban from the whole EU just because, "as a Bosnian Citizen I can only stay in a EU member Country for 3 months as a tourist only." Well, one day a police van came rolling by and picked me up tossed me into ICE jail in Darmstadt Germany for a month giving me methadone and everyday and then deported me back to Bosnia giving me 50 euros and just left me there in Sarajevo Bosnia airport. For me having no family or a home its much harder for me being homeless on in my own country cuz i cant make any money in any way even begging. I am so screwed, hungry, cold. There is no red cross or social like in germany and free food.every day. Idk where to go from here. I payed almost 100 euros for a bus ticket just to be tossed out on the border. U guys i think i am gonna die honestly i wish i had money to go to treatment or anything to survive for another month. At least in frankfurt u have so much opportunity unlike here there are empty streets and i am just alone been standing here since 10 pm now its 4am. U guys, everything would be so much easier if they had just at least let me get clean before they threw me back on the streets in Bosnia like a fucking bag of old clothes... I just wish i was at least clean cuz in Bosnia its a struggle finding a dealer even when u have some money especially in a city where i know nobody and if i ask the wrong person that might be the end of me. Pls! What the fuck would u dooo?! Help me?! I dont even look like a junkie yet and i grew up in USA man I am so confused. Its sucks being a Bosnian in Europe. Geographically we are in the heart of the European Continent but they consider us less human like the Palestinians may Allah help they 😢😰. Most of my family was whipped out murder3d in 1993 except my beautiful mom she died from cancer at age 49, May, 5th 2018. I have to mention my moms brother cuz "ironically" he was killed by a sniper at the age of 21 also May 5th but back in 93'😖🥺. I got no one left i was only 6 years old back in 93. I am turning 36 on march 9th if I live to see that day. Honestly, i have no hope for me anymore i rather be dead then like this i just dont wanna commit suicide cuz I believe in God. GOD is great, i hope He forgives me when i pass away. TO ALL THE KIDS OUT THERE MAN JUST DONT DO DRUGS AND U SHOULD BE FINE. I wish i had known better before i ever took that first puff of a joint or drank that first beer. I started from Alcohol for sure. God help me pleaseee and all the people with whatever their struggles may be. Amin

Its still a beautiful city and buildings are amazing. It just blows my mind that there was trash on the ground and graffiti. When I was there for 3 years back in 1988 there was none of that. I would always tell people back home how litter free it was and all the sidewalks were constructed of pavers and not poured concrete like back in the states. Thanks for the video it was nice to reminisce a place I probably will never get back to.
There are still beautiful buildings, especially in Westend.
I was there ca. ten years after you, and the biggest problem was the druggies begging. Now it's something else.
But all Western European cities are the same.
Thank you very much for both of you for sharing your comments and experiences. I got some infos also, that some 15 or 20 years ago this neighbourhood was more beautiful and cleaner than now. Hopefully something good could happen for this area though 😊

In this area somehow you can see lot faces from middle east and central asia indeed. In other areas of frankfurt not so much though. 😊

The climate of this city is unreal, and especially this district the masses of rubbish lying everywhere, thousands of high junkies asking you for 2 Euro, the music , the intense smell of piss all over the pavement.

Back in 1983 i first climbed those stairs. From 1983 thru 1985 i logged many miles going up and down those stairs while stationed in Gelnhausen with 1-33 Armor.

Afaik not all are open and some businesses not operating anymore because of covid. This neighborhood used to be more vibrant even not all beautiful though. C’est la vie.

I grew up in Frankfurt in the late 80s, early 90s. It was much worse back then. Today the Bahnhofsviertel has turned from brothels, video cabins and drugs & needles everywhere into a quarter with great bars, unique shops and groceries and some really nice and trendy restaurants.
For all those “It is not Germany anymore” folks… Frankfurt today is the best version of the city there has ever been. This is such a cool & vibrant place in so many areas now, with unique architecture and a true cosmopolitan vibe. Nobody I know wants to go back to a fictous Germany of old and we are all excited to see what’s next for out beloved city!
