Wow, what a great idea, thank you both for sharing it. So simple and as beneficial for the wildlife.
    Stay safe in lockdown.

I even use the saucers that are meant for large pots. The water is not very deep, but the birds of all sizes love them. I nestle them among my shrubs to give them privacy 😁 and a feeling of safety from flying predators. My husband and I alert each other to run to a window to watch birds bathing. (Hypertufa might be another option if you don’t have cement.)🌸🐝

For those who may be limited in funds or resources, I’ve found great vintage platters and dishes that may be used for bird baths at re-sale shops.

We don't have a particularly wide range of cool climate native annuals and in fact most of our showiest annual tend to be desert ephemerals. Regards Stephen

And of course if you make your mound a little higher , with a few drainage holes... the result will become a mini trough ideal for planting choice small plants ......with the only proviso it somehow doesn't look like an old turd.🤨😏

Don't you have a strong friend that could do it for you? I intend being surrounded by strong young things when I can't do it for myself. xx
