Hi guys ..I've learnt a few things from my ponds and I have 3..One would be don't make a pond too big that you can't comfortably lean over to work on or skim for debris ..if you do you will need waders and a diving license. The other is , it is more efficient , uses less energy and is less expensive to push air through water than it is to push water above the surface..If i were buying pumps again I would only invest in air pumps and aerate the pond via large air stones. It is a superior method to dissolve detritus and keep the water clear.
Love your pond. The only Elephant Ears that would grow as a perennial in my zone, 5a-6b, is called Pink China which has non-shiny green leaves with pinkish stems. They sound beautiful and will look for them either at my local greenhouses or online. Otherwise it’s treating them as annuals. Another annual option for me are all the varieties of Caladiums. Gorgeous too! Thanks for presenting this series. 🌱
I have a very small property, so this is the perfect size for my "large" water feature. Thank you for the suggestions--especially the goldfish hidey pipes and the frog ladder! I'm looking forward to the rest of the water feature series!
"Weird jelly mould" :) anti-goals for the garden. You're lucky you don't have raccoons; they thought my neighbour's pond was a fishing hole and ate all the goldfish!!

Use waterflees, snails and mussels for the clean-up.
Looking forward to chanting your aphorisms from your eventual book! Thank you so much for your first philosophy lesson of water features!

I'd go with a pondless waterfall instead
