I think I was more shocked by that than anyone else! I was having a really hard time seeing that tack. In fact, I wasn't absolutely certain that I hit it at first.
I have one of these that I have upgraded as well. I used the Langdon Elite grips on mine. Most of the rest went smoothly; I did identify two problematic areas people need to know about. First I took it apart and lightly polished the contact and pivot points and added a 13 lb mainspring.. This gave me an 8 lb DA and 3 lb DA trigger, with absolutely no creep. I put a Langdon Optimized Trigger Bar in; reset and reach were reduced. DA is now 6 lbs, and the SA trigger is between 2 and 2.5 lbs. with no over travel or creep. The Wilson trigger return spring assembly will NOT work. The space in the frame is too long for the system to work. A really niche (hah!) product most people might not even consider. The LTT Optimized trigger bar was a bit of an issue. The Derya trigger bar is a little thinner than a stock Beretta or the Langdon part; and the slot in the slide for the disconnector function is also thinner than on a Beretta slide. This resulted in a double click (or false) reset condition where it didn't slide into the slot cleanly. It lengthened the reset by a little, and gave a slight possibility of a false reset where the gun would not fire unless you let it out a little more. I only noticed this during dryfire, as I do not ride the reset but use the "reset under recoil" method when actually shooting. The fix was to bevel the edges of the trigger bar at the hump and of the slot in the frame; just breaking the edges and polishing it removed the problem and now everything works as it should. I didn't have to remove much metal, just enough to encourage the bar to seat in the frame easier. I am really impressed with the pistol; the only other thing I would change would be the front sight. I wish they made this with a proper size dovetailed sight rather than the fixed, unchangeable sight. My older eyes like a fiber optic front sight.
I can't get excited by plastic aka polymer frame handguns. When I first started shooting handguns back in the late 60's I couldn't get excited by aluminum frame handguns either. Today I will accept them over a plastic gun. Yes, I have 2 "G" pistols in my safe. They work. I would not be afraid of a gun made in Turkey. I have several double barrel shotguns made in Turkey. The work well, and are great guns for their price point. Great video HR, good luck finding something else that catches your attention.
Thanks for taking the time to review economical guns. A reliable handgun of lesser price plus using the savings to buy more ammo to practice with is, in my opinion, better than getting the name brand gun.
I bought that exact gun a few months ago and absolutely love it. The only problem I noticed was the roll pin holding the right side safety lever on has walked out completely. I’ll be getting a replacement and convert it to a decocker only version.
So many 92FS clones. A video comparison of the Turkish RIA, Girsan, and Tisas and how they compare with each other would be amazing. And then comparing the winner to the most popular 92 clone, the Taurus, would make another amazing, albeit long video. I just think your thorough approach would give an interesting, almost Paul Harrell like vibe.
I don't know if I'll ever be able to compare them all at the same time. But I did review a Girsan a year or so ago. I have still never tried the Taurus version. Someday, I would like to rectify that. Thanks for watching!
My buddy owns a gunshop, and we were racking the slides and playing with the triggers of the Girsan and Beretta back to back, and the Girsan was smoother. I never would've believed it, but it was the opinion of all three of us in the shop.
@mrmann44 that's really saying something. When I was thinking out loud earlier I wasn't going to mention Beretta because of the idea it's in a class by itself. Let the clones duke it out for #2.
I was a weapon instructor at Camp Lejeune for 3 years. This is going to be a to each their own opinion, but to me the M9 is a no. Maybe it was the ammo we used or maybe because I saw it almost everyday but the stovepipes and jamming issues I saw on a weekly basis just don’t make me want to purchase one. I think there are better more reliable handguns out there. Also I was a member of the rifle and pistol team and shot many NRA sanctioned matches and military matches. Again just my opinion.
I purchased two clones from Turkey. One HP clone and long slide 10 mm. Both pistols same manufacture and utterly reliable but no matter what ammo used from rest the accuracy is poor at best. Beautiful pistols which perhaps a new barrel would help as what I did with RIA 10 mm. No more clones as like you one hole point of aim equals point of impact is only acceptable. Thank you for always great videos.
"PPF" 👍 I own a few of those things. I don't carry them, though. That would be embarrassing. 😱 I still have my Beretta 92F, which was my first semi-auto uniform duty pistol after carrying revolvers for 15 years. It is strikingly beautiful in it's 'ugliness', having honestly earned every shiny spot, ding and scratch. I wouldn't trade it for half a dozen plastic pistols! It still functions flawlessly. It is still my favorite centerfire semi-auto 'range gun'. You will not go wrong owning one...or owning a good quality clone.
92FS owner since the mid 1990's. That price is a good price depending on the long term quality of the firearm. I once used my pistol in an armed contract security role. The only time it ever misfired on me using 115 gr ammo was a night qualification at end of a very long day. I was so tired I was limp wristing.
I have always shot the Beretta 92 really well. I have never owned one but everytime I have shot one the sights always lined up naturally for me. I'm tempted to pick one of these up. However, I wish they would clone the vertec grip (the flat back more 1911 grip angle) with the optic and accessory rail. Because my eyes are having trouble with front sights nowadays, and I like to have a light on my full size handguns. Something to remember. Most Turkish pistols are designed to shoot NATO standard 124 grain ammo. Which is hotter ammo then standard US 115 grain ammo. That could account for the low hits.
Plastic pistol fatigue is real & I have it as well. Having medium size paws, I've always had a love-hate relationship with the 92. The grip is bigger than I like but they shoot really well. But now you've got me wanting another CZ75 or maybe a PX4. Thanks; I think... 😅
Found these on gunbroker - $300 for an all black model. That's very inexpensive for such a complex to manufacture pistol. The Taurus clone PT92 goes for around $500. And Beretta $800. Interesting - not for me but thanks as always I enjoyed the vid!
The Derya appears to have the same issue as Italian made Berettas . The front sight is calibrated with a full dot hold. In that you abscure the center of the target with front sight dot instead of placing it through the centerline or base of center. Also the Beretta 92 sights are calibrated generally for 124 gr ammo
It looks like a nice pistol; given the abundance of used Beretta 92s on the market, I imagine the appeal of this pistol would be to someone who wants a NIB Beretta pattern pistol, but doesn't like the real NIB Beretta price. Kudos on the first-shot Tack Driver! New standard going ahead!
I enjoyed this video, HR; thank you. As you’re aware, I prefer traditional DA/SA autoloaders (particularly Sig P2xx’s, H&K USP’s, and CZ 75 based designs). I’ve never found - one guy’s opinion ONLY - the Beretta 92/M9 series to be as ergonomic, but of course their reliability, functionality., durability, and accuracy are excellent. The Malik obviously is a good firearm and - surprisingly - my gut told me your first tack driver attempt would be successful (don’t ask my why). Were I looking for a “first weapon,” a dependable and inexpensive home defense 9x19mm semiautomatic, this would certainly be on my investigation list; however, it would be a pretty long list.
It is good looking. My Recent Top 5 Full Size DA/SA my PT92 hit low...that needs to be shot Drive the Dot Combat Hold this may have been the same. Hard to keep track. Also Turkey and most Europe seems to regulate for 124 Nato at 15 Meters...
Hey Sir,,,just wanna thank you for a great video ...WELL explained,,,,, CLEARLY SPEAKING,,, and very informative....thank you again and continue the way you do it all....much appreciated 😊
The grip screws are all indexed perfectly horizontal which is a nice touch 👍I couldn't tell for sure from the video, but if you were resting the bottom of the grip on the bags from the bench at all, that could cause the impacts to be a little low. 🤔 It always does so for me. A heavier slower bullet (124,147) would very likely hit higher. Nice review ❤DJ
I was always taught that the top of the front sight is where the round goes. I have noticed that a lot of pistols shoot low this way. If they have a dot on them, that seems to be where the round goes. I like that range. Very cleaned up. A lot of Beretta marked magazines were made by Mec-gar as well. Their magazines are always top notch in my opinion.
the only Barretta I have is the m1951, shoots great. I had a taurus m92/99 shot great until a piece broke in it, I liked the 1911 type safety on it. the Taurus version was the most accurate I every had.
Good morning HR. That is a good looking pistol. I'm also a fan of stainless frames and blued slides. Groups look tight and it nailed the tack on the first shot. Is it a keeper or going back to HOP? Nice to see Private Chewie on guard duty at the Jeep.😊
Nice looking gun! I think original Beretta 92 is the most sexiest semiautomatic pistol in the world. This clone, however, even added some sense of luxury to it.
Great Review and Shooting! Such a nice looking Pistol! Very tempting to buy just on looks alone! Even though I already have a nice Beretta 92F, this Pistol tempts me! Great to see it's a Tack Driver!!! Supposedly, there is some trending back towards the DA/SA handgun.
None of the pistols I own are polymer, both for the reasons described in this video and also the fact that I tried my dad's Glock 26 3rd Gen and my mom's Ruger (not sure which model, but it's 9MM and DAO with an internal hammer) and wasn't really impressed with either of them. One of them is a Taurus PT99AF, and it feels premium compared to my other two pistols (CZ-82 and FEG AP~MBP), but since it's a Taurus instead of a Beretta, I basically got the same gun for less than half the price. This Melik and the Girsan Regard (which is another Turkish pistol) appear to be just as good, and I'd recommend them over a Beretta 92 just for the price difference alone! The 92 is such a great design, both aesthetically and functionally, as is the Walther P38/P1 it's based on. I'd love to get one of those one day as well.
Hi. I’ve always thought that the Beretta 92 is a rather solid platform and should more contemporary manufacturers come out with their iterations they could try to bring some new things to the table so long as it does not interfere with the overall silhouette and functionality of the original. That being said, I have sketched out on paper my take on what the ideal Beretta 92 might be for me. I’d imagine it to be made by Springfield Armory as a companion piece to the SA-16 known as the SA-92. I gave it a Brigadier slide, a Centurion barrel, a Vertec grip, and an old school 92SB trigger guard. There’s also a unique frame mounted decock safety. Anyways, that’s just my sorta imagining of what I and a few other people might want in a Beretta 92 platform. Wish I can send you the drawing tho 😢. Take care, sir.
I have one of there, i love of it, many of the parts are interchangeable with stock M9 parts so it won't be hard to modify it, it is NOT an exact clone, the safety mechanism is slightly different but the mag, barrel, locking block and springs are interchangeable. A few other content creators have changed the parts in this gun to US gi spec components. It does fit 92FS holsters, be sure to check out the Beretta and Derya arms subreddit for more information, a few people have left in depth reviews on this pistol. Ive found that mine is most reliable with 9mm NATO ammo might be because the recoil spring is new but idk.
I'm thinking that with more shooting the grouping and elevation might improve with break-in. It is a very nice looking pistol! I'd just call it a MK 9.
That's a very nice looking gun. I got a 92X so I'm not really looking for a 92 clone at the moment but I wouldn't mind having one. I will say that from my experience Turkish 9mm pistols are generally expecting 124 gr ammo so that is indeed likely the reason for the low shooting at 15+ yards.
Nice looking gun. Good shooting! My prevention of PPF was with a Sig P938 Legion and a CZ-75B. Out of 40+ firearms, my only "plastic" ones are a Ruger LCP .380 (because it is so easy to conceal) and a Glock 41 (.45 ACP), which I bought solely with the thought of flipping it in bad political times - oddly, I ended up liking it.
Good morning, HRFUNK and family. Happy Sunday. 💪🇺🇸💪☕️. I'm just having my 2nd cup of dark horse Grady Judd Java. Good coffee. Very cool, to see Rock Island come out with their own beretta style pistol. Since I'm a Rock Island and Smith&Wesson fan. I'm going to have to write up a letter to Santa Claus. I'm in..... ❤ love ❤
I was unable to find your version of the Melik. I could only find the all Black Melonite, with the steel slide and aluminum frame. I did an online purchase of the one I mentioned above, model MK924, with the 17 round magazine. I'll be able to visually inspect it, sometime in the 1st week of December.
@@hrfunk I received it. I field stripped it and everything inside, with the exception of a lot of grease, looked great. No fine particulates from machining. My Lyman digital trigger pull gauge, indicated an average pull of 3.11 lbs in SA, I didn't try it in DA. It does have a heavy DA pull. TGhat is fine with me. It is its own safety. My guess is, Derya will make a 96A1 clone. I already own a 96A1 and it is one of my favorite pistols, so I hope they do. I'll but one. I hope they learned from Beretta, the Aluminum frame needs a little beefing up for the 40 S&W round. When I was in the Corps (1977-1981), we used 1911s in 45 ACP, so my introduction to the Beretta was with the 96.
@@hrfunk This pistol appears to be a perfect clone of the original 92. It even has the hammer block of the 92. Are you aware of any differences? I have read of some of pistols having metal shavings inside the frame. I only field stripped it, but I haven't found any. Fit and finish are not on par with a Beretta, but I would not expect it to be, for half of the price of one.
Ria-retta does look sharp 😂❤ I can appreciate "arming those on a budget" but gal dangit why do they just direct copy? Maybe it helps sales to not take risks but Id rather see a little bit of innovation on 20yr+ old platforms ya know? Even if it's mostly a lie, "new improved grip texture" "larger ext mag release" anything lol
But if it was different there'd be endless complaints about the lack of parts interchangeability. I can see why they went more direct, to aim for the folks on a budget who want a plain old 92
@@Scarlet-y5xYou beat me to it, comment-wise. I'm thinking of the Girsan, which came out with finger grooves on the grip frame, which limits the use of wraparound grips.

Thank you!
The absolute worst ammo I've ever seen was made in Turkey.
The magazine initially removed from the pistol in the shop was marked (7:03 in video) ACT-MAG, which is a different manufacturer from Mec-Gar.
I too have suffered from that malady. It’s much better now, having purged all but two from my collection.
Thanks for taking the time to review economical guns. A reliable handgun of lesser price plus using the savings to buy more ammo to practice with is, in my opinion, better than getting the name brand gun.
You’re welcome Alex. Thanks for watching!
Another great review. Thank you and take care!
I bought that exact gun a few months ago and absolutely love it. The only problem I noticed was the roll pin holding the right side safety lever on has walked out completely. I’ll be getting a replacement and convert it to a decocker only version.
H I bought mine from Dahlonega Armory for $280.00 I love it!
@@billieglennbusch2189 thank you for your perspective and your service.
My Regard and some other pistols seem to fare better when I use the front sight as the point of aim.
Meaning the bullet goes where I put the dot.
Great looking gun! However I'll stick with my (Beretta 92FS!!😍) Always enjoy watching your videos by the way!!
I still have my Beretta 92F, which was my first semi-auto uniform duty pistol after carrying revolvers for 15 years.
These things seem amazing and very affordable, I'm having difficulty justifying it since I already have a Girsan Regard.
Same here. I have two Berettas now. That's about the only reason this one is going back to HOP.
@@showtime2629 That's a good point. 👍
Really like your reviews...practical and showing gun accuracy in paper not just hitting metallic targets...
Thank you!
Good morning Chief, making this in 2024 I’m surprised they didn’t make it optics ready with the G decocker.
Who knows? Maybe they've got that coming in a future variation.
Thanks! I didn't know I needed/wanted one of these.
The Beretta 92x Performance Defensive is crazy accurate. I use one in the Bullseye League with a Leupold red dot.
Hey Sir,,,just wanna thank you for a great video ...WELL explained,,,,, CLEARLY SPEAKING,,, and very informative....thank you again and continue the way you do it all....much appreciated 😊
Will do. Thanks for watching!
Turkey is turning out lots of quality handguns.....now if they only came out with a Luger P-08 clone I would be ecstatic....
Nice gun! Love the M9 and its variants! Looks most like a 92FS! Good shooting .
I totally agree with You too much plastic nowadays. Like this model as well as the external safety which is so lacking in new pistol
First time running across Mr. Funk on guntube. Well done.
Thank you!
I agree. I like their magazines too.
Had no idea that RIA were making 92 clones now. This is great. I've pretty success with RIAs. Good guns for the price value.
the only Barretta I have is the m1951, shoots great. I had a taurus m92/99 shot great until a piece broke in it, I liked the 1911 type safety on it. the Taurus version was the most accurate I every had.
Own several RIA, handgun and shotgun, all reliable, accurate and dependable, can't go wrong with RIA.
I love that it doesn't have the rail on it. I hate the rail on the newer Taurus PT92s.
Good morning HR. That is a good looking pistol. I'm also a fan of stainless frames and blued slides. Groups look tight and it nailed the tack on the first shot. Is it a keeper or going back to HOP?
Nice to see Private Chewie on guard duty at the Jeep.😊
Ha, ha! If he was on guard duty he’d be subject to a court martial for sleeping on post! This pistol is on loan. It’s going back to HOP.
Nice looking gun!
I think original Beretta 92 is the most sexiest semiautomatic pistol in the world. This clone, however, even added some sense of luxury to it.
Not sure how but, your accuracy improves the faster you shoot!
Welcome back sir 🫡 😉👍miss seeing your videos!
I haven’t gone away. If you haven’t been seeing my videos, check my channel page. There are probably videos there that you were never notified of.
I've actually been going through my collection and selling all my polymer framed pistols. Goodbye p320; hello p229
I can see some differences between the 2. The Derya has a different safety selector, and the locking block also looks different
Nice and those grips look awesome 😊
I fully understand the polymer frame fatigue. I've shot glocks, but they never feel "right", always go back to my 1911 or other metal framed handguns.
There should be a good testing video of sorts between the melik, pt92 & girsan regard ! too see which one come out on top .
Forgot to say, I got mine for $350
I'm thinking that with more shooting the grouping and elevation might improve with break-in.
I strongly suspect that is the case. Thanks for watching!
Nice review and I love the one shot tack driver. A decent looking firearm.
Nice review! I personally like an all metal frame pistol myself. I might have to check one out myself.
Awesome looking pistol. Great shooting 👍🏻
I hope you really like it. Please let me know how it performs for you.
@danpatton3891 Thanks for the info. I hope the Melik works well for you on the range. Semper Fi!
I never could get into the plastic striker fire guns. Lately, I have had my eye on the Beretta 92XI Gara.
Off the top of my head, I don't remember ever seeing a two-tone Beretta. I might be wrong, though.
DERYETTA if we go by the maker.
I like RIA products but I recommend the real deal on this one
Thank you sir for great review, as always.
My pleasure. Thanks for watching!
PPF is real without a doubt. I blame it for my recent purchase of a Star Firestar... well, that and I wanted one when they were new.
My Captain had one of those for a while. It was a nicely built little pistol. I hope you enjoy it!
My Taurus G3 9mm uses the same MetGar magazine.
Actually pretty good guns for the price. I think the standard Malik is like 3-400$. I like them. I own a 92a4, pt99 competition, regard, and a 96. Sweet smith on the wall!
I wonder why that ammo seemed limp. 115 should have a pretty high velocity. That’s way to much drop for high velocity 115
I enjoy your videos I'm wondering if you would do a gun review of a Tiasa Fatih 380 the 2024 version they introduced. Thank you Joseph Poye
I’ve been trying to get one of those for a while. If I do get my hands on one, you will see it.
No plastic in my rotation but I'm an old guy. One of the rigs I swing is another Turkish clone of the PT92. The Girsan Regard. Never have had a malfunction.
Try this way
There-ya .... Derya
There are so many gun makers coming out from my old country I can't even keep it up
Most of them they just doing side civilian firearms, mainly they focused on military ,space, and other fields
Like Tisas makes parts for Mercedes Benz parts ,you see Mercedes star all made by Turkish companies who makes fire arms as well
Great video by the way
Thank you!
Thank you for your service 👍👍
Nice🎉🎉. Taurus makes one and I believe Girson does also. Kind of like the 1911. With copying. 🎉🎉🎉 thx for reviewing 🎉🎉. I only buy 1911$. Now. Like you poly out for rest of my life😂
Thanks for another good video
Thank you!
The photos had a stainless silver colored barrel, but like this one, I received a black barrel. Any clue?
I’ve seen that type of thing before. I think sometimes they take photographs of pre-production models, then make slight changes before they begin mass production.
