Just bought a used Morley vol/wah Pro Series 2 off of eBay for $35.00 and thought it was broken cus It wasn’t getting any volume until it got to last 1/3 down. Found your video and it’s much better now! Your video has past the test of time, and is still helping us musicians! Thank you!
I had a problem with my old but still loved Digitech RP-3s pedal expression, and after watching your video and realizing it work under the same principle, i was able to actually fix it!!!...sir, thank you very much!!! you save me some bucks!!!
Thanks so much for taking the time to put up the video---solved my issue... I snipped at it with some tiny scissors then used tape for a smooth angle...Thank You Scott!
I know this is old but you helped me make my Morley so much better in five minutes. Mine is newer but it’s still had that paper thing to modify. Thanks Scott!!!!
Your videos are always informative and entertaining it's great hearing someone that is not pc every moment of every day and your responses to comments are great to thank you for spending the time to make these
Hey Scott, thanks for the tutorial. I just bought a Morley and was unable to control swells. Works great now with your mod. I cured the sunlight problem by using some black RTV from my local auto store and placed some around the led on the inside. I squeezed a little out around the top and then smoothed it out by dipping my finger in soapy water. Soapy water helps to smooth it out and keeps RTV from sticking to your fingers..... I can shine a flashlight into the led and I don’t see anything. Before sealing it I was amazed at how much light made it through.....once again thx and RTV your Morleys
Phillip McKnight turned me onto your channel. I'm SO GLAD you are continuing to make your vids. You are an incredible resource for dummies like me. Thanks again, Scott.
Very cool, Dr. Groovy. THX. I think the reason the flashlight was not affecting it so much is the frequency of the light. The light-sensing diodes are more sensitive to IR or red light.
An LDR is still a variable resistor. A Pot is a variable resistor too. There is no magic. The tone sucking thing is due to something called low pass filter that is created with the capacitance of the cable and the resistor of the pot. I saw the schematics and is the same configuration of a pot. I don't see how you can get no tone sucking and if you do is probably the small cable (low capacitance) after it.
One the 20/20 Morley t hey say you set the minium to a 1 or 2 and it opens up the pedal to perform more like at linear taper and less like the audio taper you are moding away from. I wonder if that would have worked on the Lil Alligator. How does your mod affect your minimum setting knob? Great trick on using electrical tape over the LED to prevent outside sunny gig from opening up the pedal. Good straight forward, got to the point video. Thanks
Hi Scott, thank you so much for this video. I just picked up a Morley PVO from 1998 and will use your method to modify it. I have another issue with mine. The minimum volume knob seems to always be at minimum no matter where I set it. If I turn the volume way up on my mixer, I can hear a little bit with the minimum turned up and the heel pressed down, so it seems to work a little bit. Do you thing your mod would fix this, or do I have another issue where I need to adjust the minimum volume knob?
I never liked Morley anyway. Back in the day, when most of my music stuff came from Christmas morning, I got a Morley pedal one year. A wah wah. It was alright I guess but it cut out completely at toe up. No sound at all when it was rocked all the way back. There was probably an easy fix for that but this was before RUclips and electronics might as well have been the Chinese language to me then.
Hello Mr. Scott. Could you heat the tip of the screwdriver and push down to realize the desired shape? Sorry, made the same statement on your Pedal Steel video.
I have a Morley Volume Plus that I am probably going do this. However, if I ever sell it on Ebay, do I call it a "Grove Modified" Morley Volume Pedal? And would that be with or without trademark logo?
It's certainly a far cry design wise from the original 1970s Morley PVW (wah - volume) which in comparison & hindsight is far superior to the more recent models using that silly black light divider. My old 70s one, I had the brighter aircraft globes that came with the original design changes & replaced to a 240volt (Australian voltage) 12 watt globe to reduce the higher end frequency range as I personally found it had too wider sweep for what I felt comfortable with. Thanks for the Clip if ever I feel the need to buy a newer one (god forbid) at least I will know what to do.
I've never had a problem when by bad horsie soon as I breathe on it it kicks on. Maybe the previous owner already made these adjustments. So maybe you can follow up and show us about the potentiometer that's in the back side.
So this can be done on the wah? I got a morley classic wah and it's just like nothing! Barely any wah. And with this shaping of things, I could potentially shape my tones differently?
For sure. It will work big time. Also, you can slightly bend the LED lights up or down a bit and see how that does for you before making the shape in there.
I have a Bad Horsie 2 and I had to look up on RUclips how to find the internal switch to fix the time lag. Why would a manufacturer continue to put out stuff like this? Lazy.
Because if you set the lag to zero, the pedal will switch off the wah when you are rocking back and forth. You need the lag so that it stays in wah mode even when you are rocking the pedal backwards. Even a dunlop crybaby does the same - rock it back, then switch the pedal switch off. The tone will change. So morley mimicked that. Sure, you can reduce the lag if you want, that’s why morley designed it with adjustable components rather than fixed components.
Justin.....you win the Internet! I don't know how I missed your comment, but that is simply funny as Hell! Almost hurt myself laughing that hard this early on a Sunday morning. Thanks for that one! They need to have a line of pedals related to wife things. Maybe a noise gate called "Shut the bitch up" and so on. lol
Didn't change the shape, just adjusted the angle of the led...
Thanks SO much
yes !
dont destroy your screw drivers and light slits

Thank you Scott, I've had mine 3 years and it does exactly what you described, thanks to you I can finally fix mine!
Love this video, the humor, the honesty and stellar instructions. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great tip thanks. I am intrigued by the fact you work on the floor and not a table. Love your work!
Thank you! Yeah, I've always worked on the floor for some reason. I'm not big on standing. lol
Thanks so much for taking the time to put up the video---solved my issue... I snipped at it with some tiny scissors then used tape for a smooth angle...Thank You Scott!
Scott. You are just the best. Thanks for this and all the lessons. (Yes i purchased all of them a long time ago)
Hope things are going well today.

im calling this the Dr.Groovy Mod, someone gotta start marketing these "Fixed" morleys 👌
Very cool, Dr. Groovy. THX. I think the reason the flashlight was not affecting it so much is the frequency of the light. The light-sensing diodes are more sensitive to IR or red light.
Thanks for the tutorial. I did not cut the window but changed the shape with some electrical tape and it worked great. thanks
Damn, this is perfect! Just tried it on a morley wah I bought used this afternoon! Thanks man!
What happened?
I simply taped a stright edge piece of card stock so it looked
like the triangle slope, instead of cutting. Worked great.
Damn Scott you know everything lol. Thanks for the video! This helps me a lot.
Thanks for the advice. Have the same problem. Gonne try!
You can do it!
You the man thank you, thought I’d bought a lemon

Wow that might as well have been a push button for two volumes. Thats a great mod. I agree it should work the way the mod made it from the factory.
WOW,I just bought a Dremel drill and am gonna do this to the bad horsey Steve Vai pedal I bought used and was really weak sounding! Thanks Scott!
Morley needs to see this and improve their quality control
Just did the mod...Thank you Scott.

Thanks for the update on the tip.

Good simple explanation..Thanks!!
I have a Morley Volume Plus that I am probably going do this. However, if I ever sell it on Ebay, do I call it a "Grove Modified" Morley Volume Pedal? And would that be with or without trademark logo?
thanks scott. you are the man!
Cool idea. I should have done this before I got rid of my Little Alligator.
It's certainly a far cry design wise from the original 1970s Morley PVW (wah - volume) which in comparison & hindsight is far superior to the more recent models using that silly black light divider.

The amount of gear flexing here is epic 🤣
If it can make a liar out of you it will. I'm rolling on the floor.
I've never had a problem when by bad horsie soon as I breathe on it it kicks on. Maybe the previous owner already made these adjustments. So maybe you can follow up and show us about the potentiometer that's in the back side.
I think i will try this on my classic Wah...
Did you?
once you line up the LED lights... use a little glue from a HOT GLUE GUN to "lock" them in place
Scott do you know if the Johnson Millennium J12 pedals use a similar design?
So this can be done on the wah? I got a morley classic wah and it's just like nothing! Barely any wah. And with this shaping of things, I could potentially shape my tones differently?
For sure. It will work big time. Also, you can slightly bend the LED lights up or down a bit and see how that does for you before making the shape in there.
Classic groovy tip!
Same goes for the Bad Horsie 2 Contour Wah ??
Well, I truly feel like a dumb mf'er because I couldn't figure this simple fix out till now. Thanks Scott!
I hear the Morley mini comes with a different taper
I just got a brand new 20/20 Power Wah Volume pedal and it has the exact same problem.
Just a squirt of WD40 and it's fixed
Now how do I change my wife's volume? Limit her exposure to sunlight?
Lol.
Justin.....you win the Internet! I don't know how I missed your comment, but that is simply funny as Hell! Almost hurt myself laughing that hard this early on a Sunday morning. Thanks for that one! They need to have a line of pedals related to wife things. Maybe a noise gate called "Shut the bitch up" and so on. lol
It's my pleasure, good doctor. P.S. Do you think I would get sued if I started a company called Bitchitech?
Justin Moore Scott is providing a major public service here and you, sir, are also helping us very much.
Justin , How to change your wife’s volume : leave the room then close the door.
Just like a decent Tremelo.
