2 things I noticed on the Pioneer Auto EQ: The preset EQ goes back to powerful, so I change it to flat and listen for a while. I reduced the midrange/vocals because they were too harsh, which becomes Custom 1. The Mic needs to be places at ear position, which is usually 6-12" away from the headrest (near the glass instead of the B pillar). I move my seat forward to compensate for head placement. I would love to see a rerun when you get everything active; I'm sure you'll be much happier with the EQ once it's not trying to work around the passive limitations.
It can be pretty good actually. However, I would seek to get an extension from the ipad to the microphone (Amazon) and make a simple mic stand/holder. Immediate upgrade.
I took mine out recently and swapped it for the Sony floating screen. I’ve just set the crossovers on my amp and used the DSO setting for now to get the imaging correct. In terms of how it sounds, I think it beats the 80prs and has left it standing. All I need to do is install my JL TWK 88 to EQ and time align it properly.
There really is no getting away from it I think. If you want proper time alignment and EQ, then a good headunit and a DSP is the way forward. You can only get away with so much on the 80prs. On the other hand, the DEX P99 RS is an elegant bit of machinery that eliminates the need for a DSP but it really needs to be updated to support newer file formats and include Bluetooth within the unit itself. The price is way overboard though imho.
I was thinking about a console box like that for my s10. It’s been on hold for a while so who knows. It’s good to see it’s not just some crazy idea I had though
Can you turn the gain down in the internal amp on this head unit? I’m using a uk spec kdc bt950dab for a few weeks and have been wanting to upgrade to this. I believe it’s very similar to some kdc exelon units you guys have.
Any suggestion for option to 80prs not getting it. Anything in pioneer or Sony single din or double but audiophile quality and time alignment and active crossover should be there
Funny this video came out I'm having to retune my stuff since i just put new 6.5 dvc subs in my doors. From what I've researched from pioneer 160" on their alignment is the same as zero and yes the auto eq sucks.
Depends on what you need out of it. If you absolutely need a bandpass crossover for your mid you’ll have to find something with a full network mode. If you don’t then you can pick up a ton of mid level units for reasonable prices Kenwood, Sony, JVC Alpine
@@ronaldomaynard4816 cool thanks man! ⚡ is there any chance the Positive or Ground you're using is causing this? I can't imagine a logical reason this would be off, unless the one of those is limiting voltage.
Im extremely confused. Just ordered my Pioneer Deh80PRS & will be arriving in a few days after waiting for 4-5 YEARS for a NEW production batch...way too many BS outlets selling refurbished models at new MSRP. Video / tutorial shows you un doing / redoing all of the adjustments & time alignments. Wtf ? So is the unit bad ? Is your transmission center speakers throwing OFF the head units parameters ? I read all of the comments here, researched, listen, tested 80prs for years at local shops & car shows & only heard & seen rave reviews. My understanding is the " mic " set-up / sensitivity is in relation to driver's position. I.E. Left hand or right hand seating position which is BS. One would assume where you place the mic is where the driver is. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Please redo test & video without the opposing speakers ( box on transmission tunnel ) . Does unit have parameters for " CENTER " channel ? Now Im second guessing myself, could have bought 3 Kenwood 304 for the price of 1 80prs or 1 Kenwood 304 & a decent DSP...lmk & thank you HiFi Vega great info & content as always 👍👍

Monday grind. Sipping my coffee and tuning in
Just in time! I’m getting ready to drop mine in this weekend! Thx!
How itd go ? Are you still using this unit ??
The auto-tune is good enough to get you going, then you can set it up to the rest your preference . Been running my 80 for at least 5yrs now
my Auto TA and EQ is off and is telling me to turn it on. How do i do that. i tried googling it but nothing tells me how to turn it on.
@@RYDENROAM72 are you in network or standard mode ? You will need to be in network mode to activate it.
Nice to see someone else actually using the iMM-6. It's not perfect but surely way better than nothing.

Just catching up at 12:3am glad I didn't miss this one.
So if I'm looking at this right if you're doing a custom time alignment inside of the car the right speaker is the left one on the head unit
Yes and it took me a while to figure that one out!
Wtf that makes no sense. Why would they do this??? This explains so much
where do you see that? it seems to me it identified right and left correctly.

It wasn’t perfect, but on the low frequency range it worked.
Sweet bass action brother that's killer
I have a couple of previous generations of these and one in the Premier line....i need to get the newest version of these head units
I take that back....i have this head unit too

Why in menu dont see sub settings missing in me
Does it work with android on bluetooth

Sony and Pioneer both offer lower end models that cover those needs, but without the higher end DAC.
@@HifiVega can you give us a list of some that you know of please?
So on 3:39 how did you get to that setting
In the audio menu labeled position
when you do the auto eq does it save it in one of the custom eq settings
It does, but if you want to have a clean copy you’ll need to move those settings to another program channel and then adjust from there
What's the name of the app that you're using? Thanks!!!
The RTA app from pro audio tools.
