Maybe none of it is factual, but who's to honestly say? Did Varg kill Euronymous in self defense? No one can actually say. Euronymous can't share his part of the story. Of course we can expect a man convicted of murder to say that it was self defense. People talk, say things they don't mean out of anger or jealousy, maybe Euronymous actually planned to murder Varg, or maybe it was just talk- As Vargs' character in the movie said "everyone took action except for you"- maybe he finally planned to take action. But, in all honesty, who the hell cares? This all happened years ago. Varg did his time, Euronymous is fucking dead. Bitching about a movie based on the lives of people that none of us we're literally even a part of is idiotic and isn't going to unmake the movie. Let's just sit back, shut the fuck up and allow people to enjoy things. It's a fun movie. Liking this movie doesn't make any of us any less of Mayhem or Burzum fans.

I think Åkerlund is a good guy but could had made this movie so much better. They should had used all Norwegian cast and take the Hollywood crap out of the equation - like a documentary but in a concept of an acted film. Black metal was, and still is, about rebelling against this kind of polished mainstream shit - so taking Hollywood and these pretty actors to make the film is just wrong.

Not really so ok... what about Pelle's suicide scene? Is that alright to make cash on the sight that his friends and family hate? It would be seen as rude if they scold anyone for making that scene directly... But you can see this confusion on their faces.

Besides Åkerlund was bathory's drummer just for 2 years

flaming douchebag that's probably because it hasn't been released yet lmao....there's a difference between a screening and a flim actually getting distribution, you know, the thing that actually covers the cost of putting the film on the various different viewing formats that leads to things like leaks where the websites you mentioned come into play....
That's what I just said: "...it hasn't even been released yet". Its initial release date was January 28, so it's been nearly 2 months already and still no sign of it anywhere online. Usually with other films it doesn't take that long to make it to distribution.
Initial release dates aren't official release dates, there's a difference, and actually, it's quite a common scenario. Many big motion pictures get pushed back every single year, and these are big company pictures with big company distribution, an indie film can have an initial release date, miss it mulitple times, and yet still be successful. Plus, the release date your referring to is the screening release date, which usually inevitably becomes many release dates. I don't know what to make of this movie, I'm not against any story being told as long as it's done the right way, so I'll save my judgement for when I see it, but the hype for this movie is real, alot of people wanna see it, and it'll get it's day. Especially with the likes of Rolling Stone backing it. I may hate RS, but denying the enormity of that name is foolish. I'd be willing to bet, if there is any hesitance on a distributor picking it up, it has more to do with the reflection of black metal towards the rest of the world than it is toward the actual quality of the film and how it was made. If a film like "Tusk" can eventually find distro, this film will too. Besides, most all of the indies that premiere at Sundance yearly don't hit the webs till much later, and it's due to the same reasons more or less as this film...finding the right distributor. Case in point: "Christine" which was about Christine Chubbuck. Was almost a whole year since the screening of the film at Sundance before the film actualy secured itself a distributor and a release date. Same happened with "It Follows" and that film wound up getting a theatrical release due to critical and auidence praise. Suffice to say, it's a little early to assume it's because it's a shitty movie. This happens more often that you think. Alot more often.
Also, we both know a film can't technically flop until it's made available to purchase access to screening either via on demand or streaming services, or theatrically, and that requires distribution, yes, but can't say a film has flopped until that happens. Also, if we're getting down to the little reaction we do know about, almost everyone is praising this movie except for a bunch of metal heads who haven't seen it yet. Critics and auidence attendees may not be the most educated on the history of black metal, so people like us could very well see a different flick than they do (again, I won't judge till I see), but overall the reception has been quite good for it, so I'm sure we'll see this movie this year as well as the bold truth on if it's any good or not.

I keep seeing a lot of “Hollywood” being blamed for people’s (who most I’m sure haven’t seen it) distaste in the film. Do they not understand this is an INDEPENDENT film? That means it was made with out studio interference. This is an interpretation of genre defining events told by someone who was in the black metal scene during the time of it’s upbringing. I’m sorry but even the real life people this film is based on are naturally going to be the most biased on the quality and authenticity of the film.
MrNERD4 I’m not sure you could go so far as to say he was there for the advent and rise of black metal. He played drums for Quorthon for a blink of an eye then was scrapped before they recorded the first album. No ones blaming Hollywood, they’re blaming slimy Jonas for capitalizing on these guys’ story (that Jonas was most definitely not there for)
Jonas Åkerlund is a great producer and was the drummer in Bathory, but this movie was a big mistake by him. This looks so tacky and contrived. Pelle “Dead” met him and Quorthon at the Bathory ‘Under The Sign Of The Black Mark’ record signing and he couldn’t believe how “unmetal” they looked. Wearing leopard skin pants and very glam looking attire. They were posers. Outside of this brief meeting Jonas didn’t know Dead at all. This whole thing is ill conceived and badly done.
Rohan Pathak Pelle was one of many kids in the video which doesn’t necessarily mean he was personally cast or hung with the director at all, so c’mon now...
Metal community at least be happy someone is making a movie about a metal band. Talk about a genre that doesn't even seem to exist in movies, and by shitting on this movie before even seeing it, you're just proving Hollywood's point of not touching this genre of music.
Strikes me as a dude that managed to infiltrate mainstream media, make a bloody fortune, while still having secret Satanic easter-eggs on his website. I personally would give him his "Legendary" status primarily for playing with Bathory but I suppose if you look at the quantity and diversity of music videos and concert films he's done...it is pretty impressive in itself.
Forget the Metallica video, there's still no official trailer for this plus, it features no music by those the actual story revolves around. Says far more for this than these idiots on the sofa.

No ones blaming Hollywood, they’re blaming slimy Jonas for capitalizing on these guys’ story (that Jonas was most definitely not there for)
Varg>Jewwood
Lord of hipsters
is he a sellout or just lucky?
The interviewer on this is WAY out of her fucking depth.
Worst cast terrible director and you guys talking about blackmetal and know nothing about it this is a joke!
"Terrible director", jajaja
Jonas Åkerlund is a great producer and was the drummer in Bathory, but this movie was a big mistake by him. This looks so tacky and contrived. Pelle “Dead” met him and Quorthon at the Bathory ‘Under The Sign Of The Black Mark’ record signing and he couldn’t believe how “unmetal” they looked. Wearing leopard skin pants and very glam looking attire. They were posers. Outside of this brief meeting Jonas didn’t know Dead at all. This whole thing is ill conceived and badly done.
Some day you will grow up
Actually he casted pelle for the candlemass music video...
Rohan Pathak Pelle was one of many kids in the video which doesn’t necessarily mean he was personally cast or hung with the director at all, so c’mon now...
This is so wrong it hurts but it is quite comical. Will check it out the movie for the major cringe factor.
I have a good vibe of thsi movie
Then you're already misled.
Grammar.
Lie
lies.
Metal community at least be happy someone is making a movie about a metal band. Talk about a genre that doesn't even seem to exist in movies, and by shitting on this movie before even seeing it, you're just proving Hollywood's point of not touching this genre of music.
why they should? fans never asked for hollywood and the mainstream be interested in black metal, never wanted movies about black metal.
Good. Fuck Hollywood..........
Don't touch it if you won't do it justice.
Woah Jonas Akerlund! He's a brilliant prolific music video director. A real legend.
Strikes me as a dude that managed to infiltrate mainstream media, make a bloody fortune, while still having secret Satanic easter-eggs on his website. I personally would give him his "Legendary" status primarily for playing with Bathory but I suppose if you look at the quantity and diversity of music videos and concert films he's done...it is pretty impressive in itself.

qdmqskmdak who put you on the plant ugh
Forget the Metallica video, there's still no official trailer for this plus, it features no music by those the actual story revolves around. Says far more for this than these idiots on the sofa.
"A story based on a true story".
BASED ON a true story, not actually a true story. I mean, there's a female character, but not a single female of any significance in the entire scene.
