    when i hear my Voice through a recording i want to Apologize to everybody/thing ive spoken to

  • @matthewlee8667
    @matthewlee8667 2 года назад +110

    I swear, whenever I hear a voice recorded on a phone vs. on a camera or in real life, it sounds ever so slightly higher. This gives me hope because I loathe the high pitch of my recorded voice since I sound deeper to myself and I'm not sure how people tolerate listening to me. I know part of this is psychological, but hearing a recording of myself sucks. But still, after listening to other people compare their voices to their phone recordings, I think the right thing to say would be, "imagine that recording but slightly lower and that's what others hear."

    Just compare this video with the video "the most amazing articulation workout" from a couple of month ago. Your voice in this other video just sounds ten times deeper and more resonant. That shows me that you really know what you are talking about, because you can actually change the way you sound and are not just born with "a perfect voice".

      Speaking from my own experience, what I've found when I tell people that I'm a voiceover actor, 9 times out of 10, they say the same thing, in different variations: "Really? Let me hear ya do a voice!" or "Really....cool, what characters/impressions/accents/etc. can ya do?" Etc., etc., etc. Ray, lemme tell ya, this isn't about what you yourself can or cannot do, it has WAY more to do with the fact that people outside the business generally have no *clue* what a voiceover actor is or does, or the wide range of types of work they do! They think it's nothing more than doing impressions or wacky characters, or even just being a commercial v/o actor! They don't understand that there is WAY more to the v/o world and career than just that. So don't beat yourself up because of the ignorance of others, no matter how supportive they may be *trying* to be. Stay focused, do just what Darren said and keep practicing/improving, and just keep pushing forward, despite the naysayers or unknowledgeable around you. :-)

    Darren, I have a more nuanced question, please... How can I use my voice in my "private spaces" (not performing/socialising) and feel comfort being functional for myself?
    I have dysphonia, SD, it has been getting worse over time and for me it manifests as having a 'fine' voice when in public, performing, singing but when I am in my own space, alone, my voice goes to sh*t. I can't read books to family, I can't record any voice work in my own time (unless I put on an accent) ... It's incredibly draining to have to be presenting to others in order to know "I'm ok" and not "defunct".

    My problem is I’m trying to build up a RUclips channel. I don’t have a microphone yet and my voice is just a consistent problem with making my videos

    I swear I’ll be singing and it sounds great and then when I listen to the recording of my voice it’s sooo bad at least to to me, other people like it though for whatever reason

    In phone recordings, my singing sound worse than when I sing with a microphone and not recording :o

    I feel like I just sound like I'm constantly high even when I'm not when I hear myself in recordings. It's so much deeper and it's so much more drawn out than what I hear through what I hear with the resonance in my skull.

    Yea, a combination of my voice and the fact I suck at talking I just really hate hearing myself talk.
    I learned to just tell people that I don't have a mic when I join voice chats.

    Sobbing bc I do think my voice sounds weak and thin when I record. Even on my nice condenser mic with the interface I feel like it sounds really mid.

    I sound extremely weird when I hear my voice. I always get made fun of it and that’s one of the reasons that I don’t talk. I asked my friends about how my voice sounded like and they responded “it sound like a autistic diabetic disorder Little weird kid”. I don’t what to do with my voice, I really want to get it fix and improve. Im 16 years old and I had this voice ever since I was 12 and it still sound the same. I really thought about ending my life because of how I sounded. Imma give it a few years and if it don’t change imma get surgery and if that don’t work imma really kill myself (not joking) I fucking hate my voice so much. Everyone in my family has better voices than I do even my friends. Idk what to do man I need this voice to change I can’t even say the word “Chat or Chicken”. Every time I say it it sounded like sicken or shat. Plz some one help.😢

      Please don't think like that. You are worth so much more than what other people think of your voice. I have also been made fun of for mine and I know how it feels. For a while I avoided speaking because of my insecurities but then decided fuck it, it doesn't matter what other people think. And I started coming out of my shell, talking to people more and realized how much I was missing out on. I realized the majority of people don't give a shit about what your voice sounds like, and for the few assholes that do, that's their problem not yours. If you need help with your pronunciation, maybe you could consider a speech therapist. I've never been to one, but I've heard they help a lot.

    Yes! What you were saying there at the end about recording on different equipment than usual! Ya know?....the FIRST thing I noticed from the minute you greeted at the top, I *did* hear that it sounded different! There was much more echo from the room being captured! :-)

    I've noticed that when my voice is recorded and played back on say, an iPhone, it sounds pretty rich and deep (as friends have stated) not quite as I hear it but pretty good still, odd thing is recording my voice through my computer capturing clips it sounds baddd, like all the low end is sucked out and kind of muffled
