Hi, i really like your DIY projects, always well thought off. This observatory looks like a winner at low cost ! Also, thank you for including those metric measurements for the rest of the world 😉
Great video! This is a really good solution for a backyard observatory. One solution I've found when we are out car camping is to use a Gazelle G6 Gazebo instant up tent/shelter. It doesn't have a floor so it makes it easy to accommodate my Obsession 22 dob. I do have to slide the tent out of the way when I'm ready to use it so its not as handy as your solution but I've contacted the manufacturer to see if they would make an observatory model. :-)
Thanks Jay! Just a head's up... I've made a change to the floor. Instead of setting the pod on top of the waterproof mat, I've brought it inside and screwed it to the 2x4 plate. That keeps the floor dry on the inside when it rains or snows.
Thanks! Although it was a bit of a gamble, I'm glad I gave it a go. Its made imaging more enjoyable. I'm out the wind and the neighborhood lights are more manageable. Cheers!
Hi Brad; That would depend on your set up. I had to raise the legs on my tripod but that was all. Check over the "Measurements" section of the video and see if it will work for you. I got mine at a local Fleet & Farm store. But a google search will pull up a number of places that carry it. Or check with your local hunting supply stores.

You're welcome! :)
Very clever, thanks for sharing it!
Watching the sky from an outdoor toilet , nice :)
That's strange, I thought I was the only one that summits like that. Great vid, thanks.
😄
Great sense of humor!

Looks sorta like a portajohn. More like observaLAVatory, am I right?
I'll see myself out.
Thanks for the excellent tip... or lack thereof thanks to the pentagon shape ;)

G’day
Have to say, what a great idea!
Thinking outside the box I like it
Always enjoy your content
Cheers from Oz
Glad to hear you found it useful. :)
Another great video. I've always thought about doing something like this for my imaging rig.

Do you have a link for Amazon or search terms to use? I can't find anything similar on Amazon, only fabric blinds.
Brilliant solution
Thanks Garnett!
What a great idea! 😊
Hey Ben, glad you like it! It's been great having it this winter; really keeps the snow and wind out. :)
Very clever!
Thanks. I am looking for a shelter for a dob.
Where did you purchase the pod?
At a local Fleet Farm store. But you can search online and find them.
It seems too tall? Where can I find it on the web?
