    I've never been one to care about matching, I've been with my wife for 20+ years, I've always been a jeans and t-shirt guy, prefer work or hiking boots,my paddle is ok,($25 extremez 2 from academy) moves me around,I'm on disability so kayak isn't that great either (lifetime tamarack 120) but it works so far, your videos are great and informative, keep it up,I'm new to kayak fishing so the advice is welcomed!

    YES spend money on the paddle! More important for kayak fishing than a $300 rod reel combo any day.

    Thanks Chad. Well said. I always explain to people the bottom hand is more for guiding and blade placement of the paddle. The upper hand is for the power. It should be doing a cross body jab. I love my greenland paddle more than a traditional

My friend whose been a kayaker for a long time guided me to the Carlisle magic angler paddle, and he will be going with me for the first time, I'm not a young guy at 77 but I gave up Motorcycling for the kayak, good choice I think. I love watching your channel thanks for what you do teaching us the ropes.👍😷

    Chad, thank you for your insight and sharing. I ended biting the bullet and bought the best paddle I could afford. My family and I are just getting into kayaking and kayak fishing. I bought the Bending Branches Carbon Plus. The kids will continue the free paddles that came with the vibe kayaks. I liked your description of how much a $400.00 paddle can cost $1000.00. Maybe sounds silly, but I love the paddles that have feet and inches marked on them. Also really like the paddles that have a little nick in the blade to help unsnap lures from objects underwater. I got a Bending Branches Angler Scout in Sage Green with an Aluminum Shaft and love it when I need it from my pedal drive kayak that ran me about a $100.

    Great content the spoon/cereal analogy is a great one. If anyone is planning on paddling a kayak for the rest of their life invest in a great paddle as your first one it definitely will save your body and your pocket in the long run. Learning proper techniques early in anyone's kayak experiences will keep you paddling for the long term. Chad it has nothing to do with #MetroSexual #RealMenRealStyle we always have to look good at everything we do #KayakFishing as well.

    • @ChadHooverFishing
      @ChadHooverFishing  5 лет назад

      At that width and your height I would opt for a 250-260 CM paddle. I’m not a huge fan of long paddles like that but if your boat is over 34” and you are under 6’ it’s pretty much a necessity. So, by comparison that’s about 98 to 102 inches.

    LOL @ 7:50 you went into a slight "Wo-Man" moment there I caught that! Now onto asking...ummm I didn't buy an adjustable paddle...I bought my first 80 dollar Pelican which I think I'm happy with that has a glue hand indent that auto adjusts to knuckle...Now that you mentioned length adjustment I'm ...well...bummed! I'd have liked some extra length as I've touched on the need already and this is my first spin on a yak!
    LOL at 16:02 and ya know...image often improves drastically in all fields so you've nailed the presentation obviously! You come off as "braw", magnetic with that little edge of hmmm, I must know how he can do that (present in them threads) and you only add to the character cause I see at times a slightly rowdy little bugger I hung with growing up so with that said you then should be able to nail anything as you fit well with anything!

    Hey Chad it's OK to have a coordinated wardrobe ... and if it take Kristi to do it for you so long as it is still something you would wear any way just maybe not in that combination let her do it. She wants to help! If it starts to approach Fu-Fu then put your foot down by all means! LOL! Seriously you are still wearing fishing garb from what I can see ... go with the flow! I wear jeans and a cotton camo shirt most of the time because I live alone and well I don't have a 'she' looking out for my best interest and wanting me to look my best. And I'm not in the public view all the time! BTW ... We differ slightly in our paddle technique ... I don't use a solid glue hand ... mine is right hand control but because of my wrist action I have to loosen a bit when the 'glue' in your stroke is looked down. Other than that your demo was spot on.

    Please, be sure to buy the best performing paddle you can afford from the start. I purchased a Werner paddle and was absolutely shocked at the $400 dollar price tag. However, when I tested other, heavier paddles made of weaker material and then tested my Werner, the benefits were over the top noticeable. I now have two years and nearly 500 miles of kayaking on this paddle and it's been an absolute TOOL, for my YAK passion! Your paddle will become a TOOL, to get you where you want to go and get you out of trouble, many many times over and durability and performance will matter 100% of the time. P.S. Chad, excellent job my friend and keep up the good work!
