"No matter how she vocally sounds"? She sounds different than the 1980 Debbie Harry but different isn't worse. She sounds great. I would've thought the refrain on "Rapture" would be beyond a 78 year old rocker. She nailed it.
Too bad she ended up breaking (ugh) rap, instead of rock chicks. Aside from the Go-Gos(with watered down not very rocking hits),, Garbage, Pretenders, Benatar and Hole, not many of the others she led to did very well in the US , eg X, Missing Persons, Bow Wow Wow, Altered Images, Divinyls,Romeo Void, Josie Cotton,The Avengers, Bonnie Hayes,Concrete Blonde, Trans Vamp, Elastica, Kim Wilde, and The Primitives. Even Liz Phair and L7 said Debby was an inlfuence. But I am glad for all the other chicks in rock she led to. So many great memories! It was a golden era for rock chicks, something that will never happen again. Debby wasnt an influence for lousy dance music chick (yuck) Madonna Sadly the brillant Donna Summer would have to be the influence for that a--hole.
