Not sure where you're taking this opinion from, but Stevens has always been hailed as one of the greats of his time..he played for one of the top singers of a decade (Idol) and the biggest artist in the world... (Michael Jackson) just to name a couple.
I would have to agree with you 100% today's auto-tune has ruined music. I can remember having the extended version of flesh for fantasy I'm not sure if you can search it on RUclips or not but it was Kick-Ass never got tired of playing

Dude, need to get your hearing checked. His voice definitely is not the same as when he was 30. Pitch is off, voice has lost power. Its exactly what you'd expect for a guy 30 years later. Not saying he can't sing at all, but there's no way this is him when he was younger

Well Missy Elliot is plenty talented and yes hip hop does have roots in rock and roll, blues, jazz and funk so I think that it is plenty appropriate to include Missy Elliot, no need to put her, or any other musician down to build Billy Idol up. Billy Idol is awesome and so are a lot of other musicians!

I remember more than ten years ago when Billy was hosting a music event. My mouth dropped as he sang during the intermission. I thought, Billy should get all the prizes!!

Personally don't care for most of the 60s stuff with the exception of The Doors and a few others. The 70s were pretty "meh" as well to me. It was truly the very late 70s when music started to get really, really good. From 1978 up until about 2000, the music was just excellent.
Damn, Billy sings better now than when he was 30! What a talent. And Steve is such a great guitarist, he plays acoustic (even classical) guitar like he was using an electric one! Fantastic concert

I saw them a few years back in SF playing acoustic only... one of the best show ever! Steve Stephens stole the show with his flamenco number... truly amazing!

For me Billy Idol still has one of the greatest voices in Rock & Roll. Steve Stevens is just as great on guitar. He could always bring the house down. More of them should have been made available by the music industry. I've always wondered why they seemed to have disappeared from the mainstream. What a great proof of greatness this video is.

Billy Idol unplugged Duo... yeah I am here for this. Wow amazing a singer who doesn't need auto-tune and sounds just as good as on a record. Oh... and... Holy Shit - Steve Stevens tearing up the parts on an acoustic. The more I watch of him the more I have a deeper respect for his guitar capabilities. Steve and Billy take care and keep rocking as long as you can.
Much of that is due to Billy usually singing in a deeper, chest voice. Rose, and Vince Neal went for that pinched screech most of the time. I don't know what happened to Roth, I think he lost his mind.
The chemistry between this two cats it’s so palpable and that my friends you only have once in a lifetime and you can tell they are aware of this , ridiculously talented!
Billy's voice is still as cool as it was 40 years ago. I heard him for the first time in 1984. It was the song "Flesh for Fantacy." I sat alone in my parents' living room and recorded songs on the radio. At that time I lived in a gray prefabricated apartment in a country called the GDR, and was trapped behind walls and barbed wire. You could only get music from the west through the radio or through relationships with West Germany. Seeing Billy Idol at a concert was light years away. 1989 the Wall a lot and at some point I went to a Billy Idol concert.
That's interesting to read about. I'm an artist and lately I've been seeking inspiration from both post-World War two German fiction literature and then researching the history of (West/East) German geo-politics from between the late-'40s to the '80s. Very neglected period of history in my view from the perspective of the U.S (despite a successful reconstruction). Thanks for sharing your story. Flesh for Fantasy is my favorite Billy Idol song (I listen to it to hear it's break-beat close to the end - has a 'martial'-esque vibe to it ).
1989 war das Jahr. Ich saß vor dem TV, in der damaligen BRD, und konnte es kaum glauben, die Mauer war weg. Ein unvergessliches Ereignis. 1989 was the year it happened. I sat before the tv in west germany and couldnt believe my eyes, seeing the wall disappearing. A really unforgettable event.
I knew Steve was a killer guitar player, but stripped down like this you can really hear how inventive some of those classic licks are. And Billy sounds great. His voice has aged like a nice scotch.
I think he gets a ton of respect at least from his peers and people in the industry. But He certainly doesn't have the name recognition of other famous guitarists. But he is still awesome in my book.

TRUTH! Stevens has always been so underrated. His signature rivals that of EVH, Satriani, Lynch, Vai, just to name a few. Billy's voice is still going strong. Today's kids missed out on most of the good stuff, but these guys a still doing it!

You got to add the 70's and part of the 60s to that, but it truly ended with the 90's. Music sucked after that.
Personally don't care for most of the 60s stuff with the exception of The Doors and a few others. The 70s were pretty "meh" as well to me. It was truly the very late 70s when music started to get really, really good. From 1978 up until about 2000, the music was just excellent.
Irreplaceable is a perfect word to describe great musicians. I had a bass player named RIP ED JONES who was IRREPLACEABLE 💖

It kind of is electric, it's an acoustic/electric so it's both.

For me Billy Idol still has one of the greatest voices in Rock & Roll. Steve Stevens is just as great on guitar. He could always bring the house down. More of them should have been made available by the music industry. I've always wondered why they seemed to have disappeared from the mainstream. What a great proof of greatness this video is.
To be able to bring it like that with only one instrument playing is rare and wonderful to watch.

Billy Idol unplugged Duo... yeah I am here for this. Wow amazing a singer who doesn't need auto-tune and sounds just as good as on a record. Oh... and... Holy Shit - Steve Stevens tearing up the parts on an acoustic. The more I watch of him the more I have a deeper respect for his guitar capabilities. Steve and Billy take care and keep rocking as long as you can.

Billy's voice is still as cool as it was 40 years ago. I heard him for the first time in 1984. It was the song "Flesh for Fantacy." I sat alone in my parents' living room and recorded songs on the radio. At that time I lived in a gray prefabricated apartment in a country called the GDR, and was trapped behind walls and barbed wire. You could only get music from the west through the radio or through relationships with West Germany. Seeing Billy Idol at a concert was light years away. 1989 the Wall a lot and at some point I went to a Billy Idol concert.
That's interesting to read about. I'm an artist and lately I've been seeking inspiration from both post-World War two German fiction literature and then researching the history of (West/East) German geo-politics from between the late-'40s to the '80s. Very neglected period of history in my view from the perspective of the U.S (despite a successful reconstruction).

1989 was the year it happened. I sat before the tv in west germany and couldnt believe my eyes, seeing the wall disappearing. A really unforgettable event.

I knew Steve was a killer guitar player, but stripped down like this you can really hear how inventive some of those classic licks are. And Billy sounds great. His voice has aged like a nice scotch.

I can’t believe how insanely good Billy’s voice is and S.S. is one of our greatest guitarists, criminally underrated.
TRUTH! Stevens has always been so underrated. His signature rivals that of EVH, Satriani, Lynch, Vai, just to name a few. Billy's voice is still going strong. Today's kids missed out on most of the good stuff, but these guys a still doing it!
