Just for fun , can you make a video when you compare the B&W 600 to 705 and maybe 805 so we can hear the difference as we step up , most of us never have the chance to do this kind of test.
What an amazing system you have built. The entire "source" section - power supply, PC, Chord M scaler & TT2 - creates a train that can hardly be overtaken. It shines through in all your sound demos. On top of that the Gryphon nearly levitates. It has all the punch required to draw very clear lines & guide the speakers, which seem to play two levels above what should be possible.
I have Bowers and Wilkins 705 Signature powered with 100 W/Ch Cambridge Audio, and was very satisfied - till now. After listening this sound demo (using AKG professional headphones!) I have to say that the speakers sound amazingly good, with far more sophisiticated musicality than combined with my Cambridge Audio amp. In one word they are almost on the level of Gryphon Diablo.
I know it's just over the internet and through my (very good) headphone but this system sounds totally exquisite. Very integrated, tight and controlled and extended but not too much.
Thanks Terry. Good clarity across the frequency range. If anything though, these sound demo videos are good for hearing music you haven't heard before. :)
Impressed with this, I prefer your Diablo 300 demo but this still sounds very good, Gryphon are amazing amps. Love the range of music you play in your videos as well, helps demonstrate the breadth of the systems capability.
Terry, Terry what can I say. You have exceeded my expectations. The second track I felt like I was inside the piano and seeing the hammers hit the strings it was that realistic. A truly extraordinary sound demi..🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Smooth like a highball glass of Blanton's Whisky. I did a comparison of Apple lossless versions of these songs on the same headphones. The B&W add that level or subtle richness to the sound, that and your room. Not overly forward but with a nice presentation. After roaming around a few sound demos of these speakers on youtube I'm really starting to dig the laid back nature of the B&W sound. Headding out now to hear them in person at a local Hi-Fi shop. Really Enjoing your channel. Thank you.
Remember think amplifier when you demo these they won't sound laid back on everything do bear that in mind as they are deigned to sound a bit lively. Thanks for the kind words 🙏
Thank you Terry for that first track of orchestra and solo soprano voice! The second track was also rather seductive (O: I know you have enjoyed Martin Logan, and as an owner of Masterpiece series estats, I enjoy orchestral and jazz recording mainly and mostly. Thanks again as always to you, from over the wide river here in the states (O;
Hi Terry - I always enjoy your sound demos! So many reviews you see they don’t play the speaker at all, I know you do yours separately - that works out well I think. They sound very detailed and insightful, you would be forgiven for thinking there was a live band playing behind the screen!
Probably the same reviewers that tell you everything they review is the best for click bait and other loaded reasons which is just ridiculous when you think about it - especially for the most recent one speakers under $2000. To claim something is the best speaker under $2000 imagine how many you need to look at all at once.
Terry, as always your recording of the playback is first rate. The components prior to the Diablo 120 are excellent (love the Hugo M Scaler and TT DAC 2). My impression of the 705s Signature, being driven by the Diablo 120, is that they're good but not great. These are honest quality hi-fi products. However, frankly, they don't shine (at their price level that is). The transparency, and midrange of the 705s is quite good but that's it. Surprisingly, the 120 is underwhelming. Perhaps with a larger, Stand mound or Full range Floorstander (such as your old KEF Reference 3), the 120 would impress. My opinion might change if I was present at your location. Thanks Terry for your great work.
Thanks for the feedback David, I think your feedback could be a little harsh which could be because my recent demos have been with speakers at the £10k+ mark and there is a step down to this kind of level as you would expect. The 120 is a not an amp that's trying to stand out that is why it took me so long to do the review but if I did an A/B demo with the other amp I had here you could appreciate its smoothness and lushness and fullness and then it would stand out if that makes sense. As always thanks for watching and for getting involved, I always appreciate it :)
Hi Terry! First of all, thank you very much for your videos. I currently own a Naim Uniti Nova and was thinking of a new amp, probably Gryphon Diablo. Have you noticed a clear difference between Diablo 120 and 300 that justifies that price difference? Thank you very much and congratulations for your channel 👍 Javier
Thanks for this, Terry. They sound good, no doubt... but somehow didn't really engage me like some of your other speaker sound demos have done. I suppose what I listened to them with has some effect (I have to use speakers as I can't use headphones), but your playing a snippet of the Fairfield four immediately reminded me of another video on RUclips: (ruclips.net/video/RbxjV1GRtoE/видео.html), where the Fairfield four sing another song, "Them bones", at around 13:40. I was more engaged with the sound on that track, as well as most of the the other tracks, in that video - no aspersions on your sound recordings, mind, which here as usual are excellent. You also featured the same speakers - a pair of Quad S1 - on a sound recording at a high-fi show (ruclips.net/video/rL2AcGsvvo8/видео.html) and you seemed quite impressed with them. Is it just me, I wonder? Am I simply a philistine who can't appreciate the B&W 705 signatures and seems to prefer the Quad S1 (at 1/5 the price) driven by less expensive amplification than the Gryphon? The Quad S2 (the next one up in the range from the S1) are the same price (£599) as the AE300's (which were top of my shortlist from your fairly recent qroup test), but now I'm tempted to go for the S2 instead. I dunno... I've never heard a pair of B&Ws I actually like that much. Maybe that's it: their kind of sound just doesn't really appeal. Maybe what appeals about the S1/S2 is the ribbon tweeter and what it does for the midrange, particularly vocals, which constitute most of my favourite music. Ah well, there's no accounting for taste. :-)
Hi John, You cant really compare sound demos from channel to channel because there is too many variables different that we dont know. I listened to the Russian video on my phone it sounded great but when I plugged in some headphones it showed up that its not as great really and it might even be a mono recording as there is very limited soundstage - no idea if they recorded the sound at the listening position or close mic. Close mic recordings is a lie imo because that is not what you would hear in the flesh if you were sitting there - but again I don't know. Either way different recording gear so you cant really compare. I have some Quads coming in for my group test so I can tell you more about them then.
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Well, as I said, I can't use headphones and you may well be right about the quality of the recording. As far as I'm aware, though, I don't think he used a close mic, because you can see the info change on what I take to be a CD/possible USB player. Pity I can't speak Russian, because he may have said something relevant in the intro. In the forthcoming group test, I don't suppose you will be demoing the S2s -- more likely the Z2's? If so, they're quite a bit more expensive than the S2s. Still, the Z2s do have a similar ribbon tweeter and might give some indication. Everyone seems to overlook the S2's -- only Tharbamar seems to have reviewed them seriously and rates them highly. Whatever, I do very much look forward to hearing some quads on your recording gear in the near future.
Why you re-released this what was wrong with the first time a few hours ago And of course any sound recording taken from somebody's room doesn't represent the quality of the speakers or amplifier and give a false impression just let people know I'm sure they do
RUclips Blocked the Amy Winehouse track so blocked the whole video so I had to remake the video with a new song in it. I always record extra just in case
with hifi your not listening to reality your listening to recorded audio, so the best hifi system gives you the sound of the microphone - its never any more than that
@@PursuitPerfectSystem for all the respect i have for you.. some sound system has much more natural et realistic sound than that one (forget about the recording)...usualy that what happen whit metal dome tweeter.. but at the end... everyone have their own preferences. B&w 705 signature vs marten oscar duo
Which of these is the best for music
Sounds the same in the second upload,, 👍😎👍.
It is the same video except I had to change the last song as RUclips blocked it
Just kind of curious what is your listening volume for this video?
I am not 100% I am guessing 85-90db

Yes there is a big difference I think one might suit a system better than the other but the 300 is the better amp for sure
