b&w speaker is the world's best monitor speaker, used at Abbey Road studio in England, and is the most trusted brand not only for audio fohiles but also for general consumers. This speaker is the best matching classe amp
It was a interesting video of the b&w speaker line.. I saw abbey road studio just on the outside when I was touring Britain… now I feel I had a glimpse inside that place
I've had 801 series 80,801N,801D,802N,805 tiger eye, 805D2 and I've just sold my 802d2's. All great speakers but the 801D is or was the best speaker they ever made. I've listened to all top end B&W speakers over the years and everything has gone downhill after the 801D gen 1. Should interesting to here the 801D.
Apparently there’s at least 6 Klipsch fans that gave you a thumbs down, what a shame, wonderful video, thanks! On a side note, I’ve listened to the 801 D3 in white at a local dealer, they had it paired with a Devialet 220 pro, & let me tell you, it was THE flattest set of speakers I have ever heard... I was very disappointed as they are beautiful speakers!
Sound quality takes top priority, however the earlier 2000's models had the gold cone midrange fitted with the silver phase plug which makes the new midrange look paltry by comparison .
Now Terry…I am thinking…for mere mortals, that Buchardt Announcement may be bigger September news! 🤗 I am with you on wanting to having a listen to those original 801 speakers. Just for reference, if no other reason. I hope that you have the opportunity to have time with, and to review the new Diamond 805 D4s!
Very nice vid Terry - thanks so much for sharing and for continuing to bring us information on the new series. I am seriously considering purchase of the 802’s, and your insights help with that decision-making process - plus the vid is just straight-up entertaining. Thank You!
@@PursuitPerfectSystem At least in some part because of your video (and largely based on an 802D3 listening session) I ordered 802D4’s yesterday and hope you are able to review them soon yourself.
@@markwilliford7471 wow Mark that is exciting for you, glad to be of help. I can't see me getting access to the 802 I hope 803 at some point but likely will get the 805 first going by recent communication but as you can imagine there is a lot of publications after them so it's a wait and hope situation sadly. I do have a plan b bit not sure about that yet
@@PursuitPerfectSystem I wish you were here in the states or me there in the UK so you could use mine for review. I currently have 804D2s paired with a PV1D and am very interested to hear the difference. I did get a short listen to the 805D4 yesterday at the shop, and while seeming almost impossible, they did sound more open than my 804D2’s - and with very good bass considering where it’s coming from.
Great VDO. Their speakers are out of my reach. But I PX7 and PI7 might be. Do you have any thoughts about them? I currently using P3 and I love the way they sound. Thanks.
hi can you tell me whats the best speakers bowers and wilkinsons 805 d4, vs kef reference 1 meta, vs focal utopia diablo colour evo, vs focal sopra 1 ?
Great video Terry as always. Just one correction ( a point that B&W should have known!) the original 801 was shown in the pic at 2.33. This can be identified easily as the original model had buttons and a light mounted on the front of the cloth on top of the bass cabinet (powered by a pp9 battery) for the protection circuitry. This model would also have a pre “fibrecrete” midrange module , but the later unit looks the same. In the later version on display at 2.38 the protection circuit was self powered and can be identified by the B&W badge and led being below the bass driver. Also, both the above versions were infinite baffle cabinets and not ported like even later versions?
Wow, very dramatic music on the introduction. A bit like an episode of Poldark, I half expected you to come on without your shirt on 😳 The Bowers and Wilkins speakers are spectacular and in some ways a bit like marmite, people seem to have some very strong opinions, especially about the tweeter sound 🤷♂️
They talked about that and how for outright sound quality there are quite a few things that are not ideal, however I take a lot from that as its always the case that things are not perfect for us normal folk
It's just a question, maybe a recording engineer could answer better. Side note, I am a major B&W speaker fan and owner. Question? As you can see, there are three full range speakers total (not bookshelf monitors), each having two base drivers, with the bottom bass unit of each speaker below the recording board. Wouldn't that in essence interfere with the sound quality in some way?
Now Abbey Road need to familiarize themselves again with the new version. Don't know why they have to change each time new versions are available. Knowing your speakers inside out is key for an engineer.
I much prefer the classic 800 speaker design, what I will say is the if the D4 sound anything like the D3 then it probably is the best sounding speaker by a mile for its price. I wished they had a sonus faber design crosses with the classic 800 speakers for the D4.
They had a Classe stack out on display similar to the older 800 speakers that I forgot to get on video - there was a lot of people there and a lot of moving around so these were semi hidden, so I forgot about them
Also once had the eye pleasing N804 followed by the gorgeous N801 …which I loved dearly back then! Those new models do look good too but don’t stir my emotions by their looks any more. Is it actually true that the B&W company was recently sold to sort of an investment company ..or even the Chinese ? Heard something through the grapevine 🥺
sorry B&W, but I like the design of the original 801 speaker more, it looks more like a "real" loudspeaker to me and not like a modern designer furniture ... I generally like more this so called "Heritage" design and the original wood look, for me this is the way a speaker should look like
not if it’s treated and maintained well, i have some sonus faber concertinos which are wrapped in leather and they still look the way they did 2 decades ago

It's a stunning design no matter what anyone says. It makes a lot of logic sense.
Great video, beautieful speakers! 👍🏻
Ive been working with BW for almost 30 years, been at the factoty twice and Abbey Road Studios,i welcome this new series.

How's B&W compared to ATC?

6 Klipsch fans haha that chuckled me :)
Yeah…B&W was touted by "experts" as audiophile…….but I have never liked the sound signature on their affordable consumer models.

Thanks Sean, appreciate it
Amazing video
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :)
@@PursuitPerfectSystem You’re welcome 😉
As Michael Palin would have said, while hanging upside down: You lucky, lucky bastard!
Haha
if they only stopped using ported design i would consider or recommend B&W.
Imagine living at Abbey Road studios.
Great video! Really want you to get a review? Compare these to Focal, Dynaudio etc There is very little content on B&W
¿Se podría ver alguna ves la fabricación de las
B&W 702 Signature ? . Son las que tengo gracias
Can I use some of your video clips for my news video? I will tell everyone it's from your own video and tell everyone to subscribe :P

Sorry that is likely my mistake - I didnt know any of that I thought they were the same speaker - sorry
@@PursuitPerfectSystem not necessarily your mistake Terry, that may be the oldest version they could get their hands on for the display.

The music was to represent Abbey Road as they record a lot of big movie score
Nice video nice speakers.it was interesting to have the speaker behind a mixing desk wouldn't that effect performance of them.

Everything I listen to sounds exactly like my phone speaker 🥲
🙋♂️🎼💖👍👌
why did they put leather on the speakers? leather do crack.
There is a large piece of aluminium on the tops of the cabinet to improve the structures rigidity, the leather is a cover to this
@@PursuitPerfectSystem . okey thanks

Loved your vid. What is that opening piece from the Abbey Road studio?
The 805 and 804 remind me of trash cans with lids.
What does B&W have in common with Apple 🤔
Might sound good but they look freaky.
