Bruh, but you have to do a perfect setup, which is extremely complicated and hard to do on this melee meta to throw those 24 lava bursts, and if by luck you set it up perfectly it's very easy to just LOS..
I think maybe Blizzard should use a machine learning algorithm to handle their class tuning from now on because it seems like the devs frequently miss the mark when adding buffs/nerfs. They always make a class too strong or too weak. For a game that has been doing this for 20 years you'd think they would have a more accurate way of class tuning.
this type of swing balancing is a consequence that happens in every competitive game that has ever been created. it's part of the natural flow of order. there is no way to predict the bar of human ingenuity and this sudden amalgamation of knowledge that becomes common knowledge meta is possible due to the many millions of contributions across the web of how different people experience the new patch in their own expertise and specialties. so to put the blame on the devs being naive or disconnected is just missing the point entirely and probably highlights more of the other issue that it's likely you don't have the talent to actually contribute enough to the human collective to be a part of the meta-game.

This is the problem with LEVELING AND GEARING for PvP being wayyyyy too fast and easy to do on multiple characters. It's already been like this for years and years, whatever class/comp is overtuned when balance patches hit, you see hundreds of them come out of nowhere and just flood PvP. If leveling and gearing were actually like literally any other MMO, this wouldn't be a problem. If they would actually separate PvP and PvE completely and quit doing ferris wheel balance patches and slowed down the infinite treadmill of HP/Damage/Healing/Power gains so that they could ACTUALLY get some balance within the game, the weekly meta slave bs wouldn't be nearly as bad and leveling/gearing insanely fast wouldn't be an issue really but sadly, Blizz gave up on actually caring about PvP almost a decade ago, it's a shell of what it was and what it could be and I miss WANTING to do it 12+ hours a day for enjoyment and to get better like I used to many many years ago.

I played caster ele but now they removed hard cast pvp talent (vulcanic surge) for this insta burst shit, I cancelled my sub because this patch came out mid pvp season. Who wants to have changes every 2 weeks anyway….

This build is a meme and works for rolling 1700 mmr in solo shuffle, but the moment ascendance ends, you have less consistent DPS than before, especially if you stack mastery and have zero haste. You're relegate to a 3 min cd. Fire ele doesn't have high uptime anymore, either. FS still on CD. Lava surge proc chance decreases per individual flame shock the more that you have out. It's also bloated with keybinds. I've played ele for over a decade, and I haven't had fun since legion.

But I know Dev does great burst dps, it just loses to shadow priest, warlock, Hunter which is 90% of the queues right now at 2.2+ MMR. Shadow priest is just invincible and does too much damage, and it takes much less skill than most wizards who have to kite for their life and pre use cooldowns before stuns. Shadow priest can stand in the middle of the map, use dispersion through CC way too often
I don't understand why anyone still bothers with retail PvP when things like that have been happening for years. Cataclysm PvP is a lot better in my opinion because balance is tolerable and 2s and 3s aren't killed by solo shuffle.
