For those unaware, the original black Wolverine V2 controller for Xbox Series X/S/One/PC had a slight defect in which the trigger and bumper grind against each other if you hold down the bumper while trying to pull down the same-side trigger. I would just like to point out that this issue has been FIXED in the new V2 Chroma and the new White/Mercury version of the V2. Have a great day!

I use the Wolverine Ultimate and let me tell you, the back buttons in the middle really aren’t an issue at all. It only feels weird at first if you’re used to Xbox paddles, but the way the buttons are shaped they are raised up quite a bit making them easy to press and they click with more of a button press feel than a paddle; definitely less misclicks with this. The Elite 2 may have a few more features such as better trigger stops and more customisation, but it WILL break. The build quality is unbelievably poor - I went through 4 in 6 months before deciding I could no longer be arsed having to exchange or buy new ones this frequently. It’s been a prevalent problem since their release.

@@gremlin51820 No it is not muscle memory those paddles are in a dogshit position and are extremely awkward to press fast and consistently also the fact theyre so damn fazr into the middle makes it difficult for me to play dark souls 3 and run while i navigate my menu
I’ve had great success with the Elite S2 although I know I’m probably in the minority on that. I am a dedicated paddle user but I’ve recently found myself in need of 2 additional buttons that don’t require me to take my thumb off the sticks. I’m very interested in this controller because I like the 2 additional buttons by the triggers. Does it feel comfortable to hold the controller in a way to be able to use all the back buttons and the 2 additional top buttons without needing to stretch or adjust your grip in a game?
If you're comparing everything to the elite series 2 you really need to mention the durability. Elite series 2 are constantly breaking where as razer controllers historically have a MUCH longer lifespan.
Yes - I dont think I will buy / use MS controllers again - My new one just sits in the Series X box while I use my Wolverine Tournament. Will probably get this new controller though I'm a bit disappointed they didnt add the paddles like the Tournament and went for the extra buttons like the Ultimate
I with you on this 100%. The second he mentioned the elite 2 controller I was not happy because it is misleading viewers, because the elite 2 is horrible in the durability department.
Never had a broken Xbox controller and those things have two years of warranty anyway. This other brand 6 months? And nobody xperienced it a few monyhs yet.
I am so so so glad Razer positioned the rear buttons where they did. I had to return my Elite Series 2 because I hate not being able to completely grip the controller with the paddles in the way. But rear buttons are so useful. So with Razer you can grip and have the rear buttons options. It's exactly what I wanted
It's the opposite for me. Love the elite paddle placement. With my medium sized hands, I can't really reach the buttons underneath the Wolverine 1. So the otherwise wonderful Wolverine ultimate mostly sits unused.
Exactly, the paddles force you to grip the controller in a more…….sensitive way??? Listen folks, the buttons not being reachable is not a thing aighhht. My hands are smaller than all of yours and I don’t have this issue. Sounds like a big nitpick to me rather than an actual issue with the controller.
@@newrockerofficial294 for flying I had to go back to the elite. I like to use my index fingers as the throttle etc then the lower buttons can control the left / right (lb rb button) my index has more control for throttle
I’ve had this controller for about 5 months now and I love it! It’s a nice controller for my series x, my only complaint is that I wish it was wireless, I recommend it as a daily controller
Wireless would cause latency issues. 3rd party companies don't have the rights to Microsoft wireless technology. MS doesn't use Bluetooth with their controller
I’ve used the elite v2 for 1 and 1/2 years and I really like it in terms of functionality and layout of paddles and buttons. But I’ll definitely switch because the quality of the Razer controller is a lot better for a smaller prize. I had to exchange my controller 3 times until now and the Xbox support is pure horror. The reason is a well known problem with the bumpers, which appears after a few month of use. Also important to know is that the elite v2 needs a high deadzone otherwise you’ll have stickdrift Razer is usually more accurate than Xbox’s own controllers
Just ordered this this morning, but like I always say those 2 extra bumpers are the real deal, while i can game without them it really is not the same after owning 2 of the previous generation Wolverine controllers.
Went through 2 Elite 2 and 2 was enough for me. The only reason I used the underside paddles was because the RB and LB buttons kept failing on the Elite 2. One reason I bought the Wolverine V2 Chroma was for the buttons (which all feel amazing and WORK) and the fact that I can use two RB or LB buttons made me even happier.
Really wouldn't risk the almost guaranteed drift issue with the Series 2. Razer's been very helpful with their service in the past as well so I went for this beastie.
@@MRJAYDANGEROUS lol you do know that the Elite series 2 is the absolute least durable pro controller out there? It's guaranteed to have issues in less than a year. The controller is absolute crap for how much microsoft charges. Also the adjustable stick tension doesnt fix crap for stick drift. The only way to fix stick drift is by replacing your entire thumbstick module
@@MRJAYDANGEROUSyou don't have a clue what you're talking about. Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma is far better than the elite 2 when it comes to reliability! The elite 2 is junk
I don't understand premium controllers. Anyone who plays video games at a competitive level knows eventually controllers just wear out, and this controller is likely no different. Why spend the extra 2-3x the price of an official controller when they're going to both eventually die anyway? Manufacturers could create a true professional tier controller, with parts that are easily replaced when they eventually wear out, but that would mean they can't sell you the same product over and over again. A true shame.
Because professional gamers concentrate more on how the controllers help them rather than durability? Because it is not in their best interest to sell items that last way too long? To be fair it's not like you can't purchase parts and DIY any issues - just takes a little bit of time and those controllers can last forever. But not if you're lazy.
Step 1 grab controller off shelf. Step 2. But controller with 2 year warranty no questions asked. Step 3. Take controller back for brand new one anytime any small issue comes up. Step 4. Always have fresh controller
I got the V2 Chroma and have been using it the past couple of hours. It's amazing. I don't understand how people don't like or can't reach the rear buttons. I have average sized hands and my middle and ring fingers sit perfectly on all 4 rear paddles. After a very short learning curve I am already near my old skill level. 6 buttons is awesome too I can already tell my skill ceiling just increased a ton. Love this controller and wish I would have just went straight for it initially.
@@BeHempyhey bro I love this controller. Back buttons aren’t an issue for me. But the only issue I have is the thumbsticks. I wish I could fit in some Kontrol freeks to get better comfort and grip but no one fits. Do you happen to know any thumbstick grip that can fit in them? It would really help
What I would like one of these controller companies to emphasize and research is how to have self fixing, or fixable drift. Every single controller including Razor I have had to replace within 6 months due to excessive drift.
There are optical switches that they can use. Never have any drift because it's not a potentiometer. However, no one currently makes a controller that uses the technology but one company used to. The Nintendo 64 controller has an optical sensor stick.
@@crossefire01 that actually makes a ton of sense. That was the last controller I never had issues with. I actually have 2 of them still working in my game room.
Love the tactile buttons but I hate the idea of the back buttons so close to the middle of the controller. I love the paddles location because I don’t have to move my fingers far. I hope in the future, Razer have plans to make the back buttons interchangeable to paddles 🤞
The controller is great other than the buttons on the back they need to be closer. I'm in the process of 3-D printing a fix for that so hopefully it works out ,I have medium sized hands and I can barely reach the inner buttons with the tips of my fingers.
@@ralphengland8559 new sticks costs as much as a regular controller? @@ryanblazic6565 man, i cant make my mind up. Literally siting in a store with two tabs opened and cant pick which one should i order. Wolverine v2 looks cool, but i always wanted to try elite. Damn..
So you’d rather they didn’t have analog triggers but a short pull tactile button? Why would you want a feature taken away? I get a lot of games don’t utilize an analog trigger and there are a lot of gamers who only play these kind of games but then you make the controller useless for any game that does use analog triggers, plus you could always remap the triggers to one of your back buttons or the additional shoulder button and just that as a digital trigger button They need to make triggers that have an actual button press when the trigger is fully pulled and a mechanism that allows either the trigger to be moved down or the membrane/board to move up so it creates a digital trigger that actually feels like a tactile button for games that don’t need analog, there has to be a away to implement like a screw type mechanism so you could turn it to adjust the height
@@PatrickThomasBrady I see your point, but I feel like a big portion of buyers of this controller would benefit from the quick response triggers. Would be interesting to see the data on what games people are buying this for. Ideally we would have both as you described.
@@PatrickThomasBrady Scuff instinct pro has both tactile triggers and full pull triggers for racing games. Razer definitely needs to implement them on their next controller since the competition has started doing so.
Razer has that quality and i love it. Controller is lasting and great for using Warzone. Other controllers cant compete with the quality that lasts, especially when you pay premium price. I hope Razer continues making them official controllers for Xbox.
Had 2 raver wolverine ultimates over the last 4 years will be getting one of these once my current one breaks they are the most durable controller going
I’ve had the Wolverine V2 Chroma controller for a year now and it’s brilliant. Let me explain: I have big hands, fits perfectly, the extra bumper buttons are amazing for FPS games such as COD/Warzone etc, for replating/changing weapons. Furthermore the buttons underneath the controller are brilliant for crouch/slide and jumping. Now the feel of the controller is top quality, nothing feels like it’s going to break and hasn’t, also I like the fact it’s wired as I have a PC. Furthermore my friend has an Xbox series 2 elite controller, another top quality and on par with the V2 Chroma. I personally would recommend the Chroma for PC and Series 2 for Xbox although both are interchangeable and only difference in my opinion is the wire of which doesn’t bother me and I like not having to worry about charging it. Note I have vast experience with Console and PC, so thought I’d give a hopefully helpful review. 🤷♂️😂
I have had the razer wolverine ultimate for over a year and the back paddles are amazing. The bumpers are good for games like apex legends. I use my left m1 bumper for heals and right m2 for nades
Hey I literally have the exact same controller with the same M1/M2 buttons for apex and yeah being able to heal or switch to a nade on a click is Ah-mazing
I wish this controller had removable paddles and the paddles were in the position of a scuff or elite series 2. I also wish that this layout would be for ps5 aswell
I bought the previous version of this controller with the hopes of being able to utilize the mapping of those extra buttons. It was kind of disappointing because they market this controller as having great key mapping. But you can't map those keys to any key you want. You are strictly limited to the keys you already have on your controller. I was hoping to bind some keyboard keys to the controller. But that doesn't work. I'm disappointed. That kind of kills the practicality of the extra buttons in my opinion.
Big time. I Stupidly assumed the controller would be configurable through synapse, and so allow decent remapping. I should have done my research before buying mine, so my fault I guess. It is definitely marketed as you say though. This was about 80% of the reason I bought the controller tbh. Really disappointed. Will probably return it. It's more expensive than the elite 2 in my country as well, so feel even more like a mug. lol
You have to stretch and readjust your entire hands fingers and thumb positions from the analog sticks, to reach those back button's. It's ruining gameplay
The razer Xbox controllers are better. They do everything the elite controller does but at half the price. It shouldn’t be an issue unless you don’t like a wired controller
I'm tired of buying controllers plagued with stick drift and the wolverine is no exception I have the wolverines ultimate and it drifts up crazy and to the left so I'm forced to run classic sensitivity when I love linear
I'm getting a lot of resistance on the face and home button. You gotta use extra force to fully press them. Not like that on the PS5 Version. This is a refurbished controller. That could be it
The Wolverine Ultimate was fantastic. The Elite 2 is slightly better in my opinion. The Wolverine Ultimate has pretty much all the sturdiness you would need in a controller and very satisfying buttons clicks. The Elite 2, however has the shorter trigger stops and the option to increase stick stiffness to match the Xbox 360 controller. The Xbox 360 controller is the best controller platform for gaming period, so any similarities to that platform is a huge benefit. I’m disappointed with the Wolverine V2 though. It’s not even an upgrade really, just a slightly new design with the Xbox Series updated buttons. If you could take The Wolverine Ultimate and Elite Series 2, mash them together whilst somehow forging it into the shape and size of a 360 controller… you’ve got a winner. Unfortunately nobody seems to want to step up, so we’re stuck with “either/or”.
The Wolverine Ultimate is the greatest controller I have ever used, when I first start playing with it I found that I grip my controller way to hard and that’s why it felt so weird to use the buttons, I loose my ring and middle fingers so the can rest on the buttons and it fella wayyyyy more comfortable now that I’ve gotten used to it, my hands do not get tired playing video games anymore since I started using the original Wolverine ultimate, I came to watch this as I am wanting to upgrade to the chroma. But the buttons are amazing, the Elite is a little lack luster, I’ve played with it and I have found that the paddles are almost TOO sensitive I find myself accidentally clicking the wrong thing because they’re just too sensitive
How is the quality of the Razer Controllers? My main reason to look for Razer products, is that they don´t break after two years. I want products that are longlasting. I got one of the very first Blackwidow Ultimate keyboards and it is still working! So, is the quality still that good?
I don't know what people are doing to their controllers to break them so often? I have only ever broken one in my life and it was because one of the bumpers snapped and was hanging off.
Does this still have the bumper/trigger grinding against each other issue, present in the original V2? It's easily noticed when you hold down a bumper, then press down the trigger on the same side.
@@danielhenry4365 it Pisses me off how that’s an issue with the original (I have the original) it’s like they took no time on it like how the fk do you get that wrong.

At those prices its probably worth it - they seem to be built sturdy mines been solid for almost a year so far.
A point I would like to add - I had the wolverine ultimate before this and to compare, I preferred it slightly over the v2 chroma - on the v2 chroma, you cannot switch between 2 profiles at the click of a button like you could on the Ultimate. I used this feature a lot as I had to set ups for 2 different games. Now I have to go into the app to change it, just a bit annoying, that's all :-)
I just got one of these, after finally giving up on the xbox elite controller and its many quality issues. Hopefully this one will be different. So far I love the feel on the buttons and the RGB lights. The only thing that bothers me is the location of the view button, the left thumbstick gets in the way for pressing it and in many games this is the button to open the map, so you need it quite often.
THAT DPAD LOOKS GLORIOUS AND SOUNDS GLORIOUS FOR FIGHTING GAMES but the question is does it feel good for em? because if it has a better dpad than the wolverine im sold, I want the wokverine tournament edition or ultimate my issue is the dpad
@@adrianlugo1130 the ultimate? Ehh maybe just a tad bit better. It doesn’t really click. It’s more softer but feels pretty bad like a cheap plastic. That’s the only downside to this controller in my opinion
I've had my wolverine for at least a couple years now and the only problem I've had with it is the left stick drifts slightly and my X B A buttons have had the letters worn off entirely lol but they still work like brand new Can't say I've ever had a single controller last this long without any problems that effects in game controls, if it ever fully quits I'll either pick up another one or go for the v2
Really? I have had a Razer Wolverine Ultimate since 2019 and now the magnet for the joysticks are broken, the right bumper doesn't work 80% of the time, the m1 key is slightly falling down, and the trigger stops barely stop the joystick.
Another comment: I hate to say it but anyone who says that thumbstick sensitivity adjustment is not worth it, does not play competitively. So yes, for the review sake it may not be highly usable……duh. In the future I would like to see some actual testing and not just talking about what it is. So this is hardly a review. Sorry, not hating but i’m kinda hating.
I have the XBox Elite controller and the back paddle buttons are already starting to fail and not register input. It's a nice controller but for the price it wears out rather fast.
The new elite 2 controller is insanely good. Much better than this razor garbo. Returned the Wolverine after 2 weeks. Only good thing is the click sound.
Why would you recommend an elite 2 controller which has a horrible durability issue? The elite 2 breaks very easily. I had one that only lasted 5 moths, and I know i'm not alone in regards to this issue.
The thumbstick mechanism on the Elite 2 has horrible drift problems and no-one should buy it. The stock Series X controller is generally an improvement over the Elite 2. We need an Elite 3 before anyone should buy another Xbox Elite controller.
@@cosmicheretic8129 Yes it is still fundamentally still a problem with every analog stick ever created, but the Elite 2 is objectively worse than anything that came before it. Ideally everyone just needs to reduce analog stick tension by about 50% and most controllers would effectively last forever. The only reason I can think of that no-one has done this yet is companies make way too much money selling peripherals that quickly wear out.
Pros: Decently durable, accurate and fine controls, grippy grips, has a non-rgb version that is half the price, stylish. Cons: Heavy enough to kill a man with, not for use over long periods, re-bindable paddles are poorly placed, triggers initially have a tendency to pinch your finger.

The face buttons on the razer sounds very impressive and seems to be more responsive than the xbox controller. I wish there was an thumbstick adjustment the same as with the elite controller.
For a new model they really didn't change anything from the last one.... Back paddles are still in a horrific place and I have long fingers and big hands. I can't imagine how unreachable it is for someone with small hands... Drop shots and jump shots need to be fast and simultaneous...can't do that with the placement of these... Other than that these controllers are great.. but I may just go with a turtle beach even tho they don't have the cool chroma lights. ..
It’s actually not all the bad. I literally have baby hands and I can reach them fine. I’m coming from a series 1 elite controller and my gameplay hasn’t changed. The 2 top buttons are a plus over old elite
I had a razer wolverine, elite 1, elite 2 and scuff prestige and infinity, my comparison of these is scuff has good thumbsticks sensitivity and deadzones similar or even same as stock xbox controller, however the rear buttons get controllerd by one finger on each side depending on which part of finger you press with takes time to get used to, and sometimes feels a little rough. Wolverine was the most durable but rear buttons take time to get used to and may be not so comfortable for people with small hands and also sensitivity curves take some time to get used to. Elite 1 and 2 controllers have by far best rear paddle placement and feel comfortable but all these controllers come with a terrible stick drift that occurs over time. I am very interested in how Thrustmaster Eswap xbox controller stands up to the challenge.
I’ve had the same experience with all the controllers you have mentioned, I play competitive Fortnite and the constant paddle use is very comfortable on the series2. I just bought a Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma Wired Gaming Pro Controller and now I’m worrying about if I’m able to use the “paddles” or “buttons” on the back of the controller as intense and consistent while the controller being COMFORTABLE for long periods of competitive gaming
@@mwMr.V over time I got used to the paddles more or less. It was the sensitivity curves that threw my game off initially. I must say the thumbsticks on the wolverine are one of the most comfortable options. However, I do think given time you will get used to that controller and do just as good.
@@justmakingtea1352 yeah I agree I have a very persistent attitude towards change and I believe so as-well thanks for the feed back, I also have a question about sensitivity curves what do you mean by that and does the wolverine have a half sphere-like stick? Is it able to be swapped…
@@mwMr.V Sensitivity are best explained by the xbox elite controller app that lets you adjust how your aim behaves when you pull the thumbstick. Meaning deadzones, acceleration ramp up and max thumbstick movement to reach full speed. Razer's sensitivity curve feels a bit different to the standard xbox controller or even the elite. This can also be a result of the thumbsticks being slightly thicker than the original xbox and this alone can effect on the deadzone and acceleration.
That is too bad but it is worth noting that many people who purchase controllers like these are involved in more competitive elements of their games and those people would always always benefit from a wired connection for lag reasons. Yes - I dont think I will buy / use MS controllers again - My new one just sits in the Series X box while I use my Wolverine Tournament. Will probably get this new controller though I'm a bit disappointed they didnt add the paddles like the Tournament and went for the extra buttons like the Ultimate
Even the basic xbox controller breaks fast
Thank you for mentioning this
I with you on this 100%.
It's great there are options for big and small hands now.
Razor for big, Elite for small.
@@newrockerofficial294 for flying I had to go back to the elite. I like to use my index fingers as the throttle etc

How did you keep the bumpers from wearing out? Mine didn't even make it a year
@@xmetaldisasterx I didn’t, that’s why I had to replace mine 3 times.

Lol always happens, I nearly did but stuck with the elite 2. I'm tempted to try this but not sure how I'd like those rear triggers
Just ordered this this morning, but like I always say those 2 extra bumpers are the real deal, while i can game without them it really is not the same after owning 2 of the previous generation Wolverine controllers.
Agreed. I never want a controller without those mini bumpers. I never use the normal bumpers anymore.
Exactly this , it's the 2 extra bumbers that draw me to razer, the buttons on the back are a bonus .

@@MRJAYDANGEROUS lol you do know that the Elite series 2 is the absolute least durable pro controller out there? It's guaranteed to have issues in less than a year.
Because not everyone is broke
Step 1 grab controller off shelf.
Step 2. But controller with 2 year warranty no questions asked.
Step 3. Take controller back for brand new one anytime any small issue comes up.
Step 4. Always have fresh controller

And the configuration app.
Looks like a great investment.
It's pretty slick!

What I would like one of these controller companies to emphasize and research is how to have self fixing, or fixable drift. Every single controller including Razor I have had to replace within 6 months due to excessive drift.
If you are in fps games mess with your setting sensitivity deadzone
There are optical switches that they can use. Never have any drift because it's not a potentiometer. However, no one currently makes a controller that uses the technology but one company used to. The Nintendo 64 controller has an optical sensor stick.
@@crossefire01 that actually makes a ton of sense. That was the last controller I never had issues with. I actually have 2 of them still working in my game room.

I hope in the future, Razer have plans to make the back buttons interchangeable to paddles 🤞
That'd be neat if they were interchangeable
The controller is great other than the buttons on the back they need to be closer. I'm in the process of 3-D printing a fix for that so hopefully it works out ,I have medium sized hands and I can barely reach the inner buttons with the tips of my fingers.

The v1 was far better..
I wish these had tactile triggers too. Would have been an improvement over trigger stops
So you’d rather they didn’t have analog triggers but a short pull tactile button? Why would you want a feature taken away? I get a lot of games don’t utilize an analog trigger and there are a lot of gamers who only play these kind of games but then you make the controller useless for any game that does use analog triggers, plus you could always remap the triggers to one of your back buttons or the additional shoulder button and just that as a digital trigger button
They need to make triggers that have an actual button press when the trigger is fully pulled and a mechanism that allows either the trigger to be moved down or the membrane/board to move up so it creates a digital trigger that actually feels like a tactile button for games that don’t need analog, there has to be a away to implement like a screw type mechanism so you could turn it to adjust the height
@@PatrickThomasBrady I see your point, but I feel like a big portion of buyers of this controller would benefit from the quick response triggers. Would be interesting to see the data on what games people are buying this for. Ideally we would have both as you described.

Hey Jordan - love your reviews and as always so helpful with good information.
I’ve had the Wolverine V2 Chroma controller for a year now and it’s brilliant. Let me explain:
I have big hands, fits perfectly, the extra bumper buttons are amazing for FPS games such as COD/Warzone etc, for replating/changing weapons.
rear pedals seem hard to reach? anyone agree with me?🤔
Yes. Too big for button placement

I usually get paddled controllers but this time I got M&k and is just miles better and I’m only a week in.
It's more expensive than the elite 2 in my country as well, so feel even more like a mug. lol
I kind of wanna get this controller JUST so I can use the right stick while running is Dark Souls and Elden Ring lol

Was all supposed to support Bluetooth 5.2 on xbox. They refused to add adjustment for sticks and 3 position triggers. Because of stock levels I hear.
I'm tired of buying controllers plagued with stick drift and the wolverine is no exception I have the wolverines ultimate and it drifts up crazy and to the left so I'm forced to run classic sensitivity when I love linear
I have two Tournaments and no stick drift - all but one of my MS controllers have drift (even one brand new which was the last straw for me)
I'm getting a lot of resistance on the face and home button.

K🤣
The elite 2 is morning but junk dinner had 2 none of them lasted over a year.
Personally don't like the positioning of the back paddles. Too far in to the center

So it's a wolverine ultimate without the swappable d pad, coms panel at the bottom and they moved the RGB strip to the handles.

Have the wolverine ultimate but this controller looks sweet.
No the stock Series X controller drifts also. I just fired one in the trash for it last week.
Would have to hold one in my hands the back paddles are concerning.

Nah
Can you REMAP the THUMBSTICKS for LEFTY'S?
