I love referring to your channel when I have a question on my build, like how to compensate for the slope of the side wall on a Sprinter when installing an 80/20 side rail for upper cabs. Just give a little leeway when tightening and then crank it down when fully assembled. Nice to follow you trailblazers. 😎
Thank you for the excellent video of your upper cabinets construction. I am wondering why you used an open face of the long 80/20 rail to attach it to the ceiling.
Hey Adam, heard you talk about a sliding bed in one of your videos and could not find it. Can you guide me to it or a send a proper reference ? Thanks for sharing your experiences. Your videos are the best i could find (and there are A lot) !
For the back piece that attaches to the van, how did you get that to angle back to 90 degrees to get the cabinets to lay flat? About to start my second build and going to use 8020 so your videos are very helpful!
Thanks for the great content! I'm having a hell of a time finding hinges for my upper cabinets that will fit into the slots of 15 series 80/20. What did you use? Thanks for your help!
I am preparing to install my upper cabinet also. I have been following your build because you are using 8020. The issue of the angle between the wall and the ceiling of all vans has been on my mind, and I am intrigued by your solution. Many people have cut spacers at an angle to help with this. Have you run into any downside to your method so far? I am fanatical about squeaks and rattles and the fact that your 8020 against the wall and ceiling can’t be perfectly flush makes me wonder about noises. Can you share any more about your results so far?
Watching your videos makes me really appreciate how much work goes into every detail of the van conversion process. I’m certain many DIY’rs find your channel very informative. I’m not handy and will never build a van conversion but still enjoy watching the process. I bought a van turnkey that has 80-20 construction. I’m still learning how to work everything and am currently getting a heater installed. Can’t wait to be able to get on the road and experience van life 🚐Stay safe and healthy and I look forward to seeing more.
Any particular reason why you didn't use the L track to secure it to the side? Is it the angle? Or did you want to leave it open for a particular reason?
When I first bought 80/20 it was the 10 series or 1" instead of the bigger stuff. It's so strong I thought the 15 series would be overkill and the 10 series is cheaper too. I got frustrated though and went back to Baltic Birch. I've seen lots of good examples now, including yours, to attempt to use it again. I feel the 1.5" is overkill still but simple things like your hinges for the overhead seem to line up with the channels for mounting. Is that just coincidence? Did you ever attempt to use the 10 series. I'd like to start working on my pile of it.
@@scottadamson6116 do you know what hinges those were? I am having trouble mounting my doors on the same style upper cabinet and really having trouble finding ones that work.
They base their choices on cost. The buyers won't want to pay more, and the builders are already running a tight budget. I imagine a stick of that stuff is $50
@@anothersomebody8195 Yeah I know must people don't have the budget but sometimes I see people who has the budget but still use wood. This os only the second or third conversion I have seen with 8020
@@NinaThoren They're probably not committing to the lifestyle, since resale value is a consideration. Scott has it figured out. I bet he'll have the motor rebuilt when it gives up the ghost in 10 years..
@@GOLDVIOLINbowofdeath This was eight months ago and at that time I had only seen about three builds with it, much has changed since then. What I search for when looking for builds also plays a part in what results I get
Hey Scott - What hinges did you use on this setup? I don’t see them listed and I’d love to use the same ones since they allow the cabinet fronts to completely fill the face frame and work with 80/20. Thanks!
I really like your 45 piece but can’t find it. I’m using the 10 series. I also checked in the more common 15 series and can’t find it. What is the actual piece called? Can you send me a link to where I can get it? I’m in California.
Looks great, but at 4:24 do you know why there is an exposed end of the square pieces that connect to the 45 smooth face? It almost looks like the connecting square pieces are wider or misaligned.
Great content. My 13 year old thinks he knows a good mustache and he said yours is the best on RUclips. So you got that going for you. Thanks for the videos. This one solved several questions I had for my near future van if I can find one in PDX. Take care.
Do yiu think there will be any issues with the bottom rail having that tension in it? I'm about to start on my overheads but haven't figured out a way to get that bottom rail square. I may well take your approach, I'm just worried about the bolts or rivnuts failing over time due to the tension in them? Loving the channel, been very useful for me!
Awesome job. This exactly the look I've planned. Is it possible to install wall panels first then install rivnuts through 1/8 ply panels and metal structure at the same time? Hope this makes sense 🤣
You could do that, but a better idea would be to only install paneling where your cabinets are not. Saves weight and material. Use a piece of flexible acrylic bent around to be the back and top of the cabinet to hide the insulation and stuff behind it.
Scott Adamson That would be awesome man! I’m about to put in an order for my upper cabinets. I’ve been looking at 3 point end mill bits to use with my drill press to machine the extruded aluminum but they are pricy. I’d love to see how you did it!
It looks like you attached the upholster wall & ceiling panels prior to attaching the 8020 to the chassis. Is that correct? If so how did you know where to attach the 8020 to the chassis if it was already covered.
hey Scott, where are you getting your 80/20 from in Canada? I know there is a place in Abbottsford, but they don't stock the profiles I am after. Any help is appreciated. The cabinets look fantastic! Love the angle on the bottom piece, I went with the 1/4 round.
Hey! Sorry for the late reply here! I’m getting mine from Item but in Canada, people talk about Rocky Mountain Motion control. l I found it helpful to find a local supplier who stocked a few common parts.

do you know if they make this hinge for an inset door application?

It changes a bit but not enough to adjust the fitment
