The sad part is that the Himiway manual lacks info as to general repair, part replacements and general maintenance info. Imo, Tim, the Tinkering Turtle, should be paid by Himiway for producing go-to videos like this, but he simply does it anyway because he's a caring man with a big heart . Hat's-off to the Tinkering Turtle!

This is what I was looking for. My brakes have suddenly failed on several occasions. Starts with the rear, total sudden loss and I can make it home with just the front brake. I love my new Himiway, but I hated my brakes rubbing. Thank you so much for the excellent and wonderfully understandable brake caliper adjustment procedure. It was just what I needed to be 100% happy with my bike. You are a great instructor.
Concise and easy to follow. Great information on where to clamp down on the cable, something that is not covered properly in the "other" more technical videos.
Have to say that this is the best video I have found regarding adjustment of the Tektro Aries brakes. I love the clamp idea. Nicely done. The only thing missing from this video is the use of a torque wrench.
Thanks for the great tutorial. I've been using my bike to commute daily here in England and the brake levers are now moving to the hand grips. I have new pads to fit but think the cables may have stretched too. Thanks for helping to keep me cycling 👍
This method seems to work! Had high pitched ringing for past few months. ENT dr said I had Eustachian Tube Dysfunction but not much to do about the ringing. Found this site 2 days ago and already symptoms have significantly reduced with this method. Will keep up for a few more weeks. Thanks so much for this video!!
I really enjoy your videos.I was having a tough time deciding on getting a Rad bike or a Himiway . And after watching your videos, it was an easy choice. I live in NH and some of the hills are a bit much as I am getting older. I went with the Himiway step through. Thank you for the great videos ,they are a huge help.
You have a great way of showing Himiway bike adjustments and for those who like upgrades for riding preferences those too. Keep it up! The only thing that I would suggest because I watch ALL of your videos is if on occasion you would change up the background music. :-) You're a great teacher, easy to follow.
Glad you like them! I have been looking for a few more selections for music, just takes time to dig through the options and find something I can stand...😂
I have these brakes on my single speed mountain bike and really like them! After I worn out the original pads I replaced them with some Shimano pads and they work even better now. I have several bikes with nice 4-pot hydraulic brakes and they’re great, but I don’t think people give good mechanical, brakes, enough credit. They are certainly more reliable and less maintenance. And how much more stopping power do you need than being able to lock-up your brakes lol!
Another awesome video. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to help the Himiway community. I know I’ll be able to work with my bike when it ever gets here!
Yes!!!!! Thank you soooo much!! This is the video I needed!! Well. All your videos are amazing. But on the hubbies maiden voyage, his brake was touching the whole ride and we didn’t know how to adjust them. Now we do!! Thanks for all you do!!
Thank You , Thank You, Thank You , can't say it enough. I just got my Step Thru , Himiway , Cruiser together. Trying it I noticed the front brake making a noise. The pads were tight and rubbing. Not sure what to do I checked on here and found your video. A couple of minutes and some minor adjustments and everything is fine , Life is Great. Subscribed.
Tim, great video - thank you. Very informative. You've done a great job of explaining the reasons for each action as you go. I got a new Radrunner Plus 3 months ago and it's my daily commuter. I love it, but this week, the brakes started fading pretty fast to the point where I virtually have no stopping power. Over the last few days, I've watched a number of "how to" videos, but it was only after watching your video that I felt I had the confidence to tackle the job and it was a piece of cake ;-) Both front and rears are working well now. I subscribed and hit the notification bell. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks again...
Outstanding. I was going to have to take it into the shop to adjust the brakes, but your video was excellent and i was able to do it by myself. Thank you
Thanks, my new Radrunner rear brake was squeaking and deflected the disc quite a bit when activated. This solved the problem and keeps everything in alignment
Bike arrived, added 50 miles in the first two days, and needed to reset the front brakes, as it sounded like one of the pads dragging. Sure enough, the flashlight proved that was the case, and a quick adjustment initially found the top bolt not real tight, but all is good once again...thanks Tim!
Very complete and easy to follow tutorial. Only comment I would make is don't cut the excess cable too short because when you replace the brake pads you may not enough cable left.
I actually had a hell of a time adjusting my front brakes out of the box. The pads were rubbing and I used this to help me adjust the brakes. I originally used the clamp method, but either I over tightened the clamp or didn’t tighten enough. Did 4 times with the clamp and the disk was still rubbing. Finally asked the wife to pull the handle and skipped the clamp. That fixed the issue on the first try. Not sure why the clamp didn’t help, but all good now.
Quick tip: if you don't have a clamp for the brake handle you could also use a little rope or shoe lace to wrap around, or a zip tie. And also, instead of tightening the barrel adjuster at the top I would do the adjuster at the wheel first then in future if needed more tightening you could do so at the top. Just a quick tip
Just got new pads and I probably would have just put the calipers back on misaligned and misadjusted. I feel confident that I can handle the job and make it safe again. Much appreciated.
