    I saw this tour in Champaign, Illinois. I was with a group of friends and we arrived hours before the show. As soon as we parked we noticed Joey walking out to the parking lot from the arena, by himself. We jumped out of my dad's mimivan and ran up to meet him. There were only a few other people there besides us, and Joey stayed for about 10 minutes signing things and taking pictures. It forever cemented in me that Joey Belladonna is one of the coolest people in Metal.

    Joey Belladona is such a positive person. I really loved The Sound Of White Noise, but there’s something to be said for the different vocal styles. Worship Music is a return to that classic era sound but turned up to 11 and reimagined for the modern era. One thing that I love about these guys is that they are always evolving and not afraid to take a chance. Even their B side covers (both with Joey and John) are better than any covers their contemporaries have done. They covered The Police, Radiohead, U2, Journey, Rush and Cheap Trick for God’s sake😂😂 and they turned it into their own thing.

    • @stephenhood2948

      LOL They also covered the Temptations of all people, an awesome cover of Ball of Confusion with Joey and john singing. Their cover of Exit by U2 is really good too.

    Can’t begin to describe how much I’m enjoying this series. Thank you to the guys of Anthrax, past and present, as well as all of the other contributors to these episodes. My buddies and I performed Bring The Noise at our high school talent show back in 1992; all live instruments. I believe the drummer ended up going to Berklee College of Music. Very special memories right there!

    Great series and I remember these times well. I’m not much a hip hop guy, but I do like the genre better back then as opposed to today. Anthrax and Public Enemy definitely worked well together and as far as merging the genres together, was never topped.

    Its fitting that Hip Hop was born in NY, and so was Anthrax. They were the only thrash band to seamlessly merge with rap. Others followed, but Anthrax pioneered it. That's part of what makes them the "fun ones" out of the trash era.

    One of my in-laws, now passed away, R.I.P. Brother, was a DJ in the early to mid 1990's, who used tables, mixed over tracks on CD's, sampled, and arranged, and I used Slayer, Megadeth, Exodus, Venom, D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies, Bad Brains, and, of course, Anthrax. It BLEW UP EVERYWHERE he performed. He paid me well, too. I hadn't even heard Bring Tha Noise, yet. But, I didn't put the Hip Hop on to it, just put sounds, drops, and a few crappy sounding beats he asked me for, some funky, some heavy.

    • @trollfacelotsofshit
      @trollfacelotsofshit 3 года назад +3

      there is nothing to elaborate, scotty just wanted to ride on the grunge/groove fad of the 90s and once it was over he came back to joey because nostalgia sells, at least they aren't as bad as pantera and actually stand up to their legacy, and give bush era a spotlight, unlike pantera guys who just conveniently forget their early glam metal records

    • @jimmiepiranah
      @jimmiepiranah 3 года назад +1

      @@trollfacelotsofshit I 2nd that emotion. Joey's vocal was out of style. And everyone went all, Black Album, and slowed their tempos down. Anthrax jumped on that bandwagon. I think it was some anniversary, that got Joey, and Danny back in the band, and put John Bush on ice. Then they tried using 2 singers which would have been dumb. Then Joey was out again. Then John told Anthrax to piss off. Good on him. He didnt wanna be anybody's 2nd choice. With Dan Nelson. They were just trying to hard. Which they have been guilty of more than once. Now Joey's back in the band proper. Over the years, it seems, Anthrax tries to connect themselves with, some one, or another band, or whats happing at the moment. Weather it's being, 'Tallica's annoying lil brother. To calling Dimebag Darryl, the 5th member of Anthrax. It's like they go out of their way to show how much, their into something.

      It would be ridiculous for him to not be there to talk about his era. Plus he's on good terms with the guys, he just decided he didn't want to do Anthrax full time again, so they both moved on.

    Sound of white noise rejuvenated Anthrax's career in my opinion. Riff wise it's right up there with Among, and John Bush's vocals made them sound alot heavier.

    Saw this tour at UCONN and it truly was amazing. HOWEVER, Public Enemy actually had to play later that night (it was a day show) at SNL. At the end, Scott came out and was like "Hey, PE had to leave for the SNL gig, do you still want us to play Bring the Noise?" and of course they did. Phenomenal show. Fun fact (not) a rumor was spread that PE was actually supposed to headline and they came on earlier because of that SNL gig. A "fact" I believed right up until this video was released. (Remember... no internet).

    I've been a metal head my entire life, I love Public Enemy. Chuck D is the greatest rapper of all time, well maybe a toss up between him and Tupac, but It takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back is a tremendous album. There is not a lot of Hip Hop that I get into, but Public Enemy is fantastic.
