That low point technique is genius.

I cleaned a route last fall and while brushing the rock from the top down, I was doing some of the moves many times and got very familiar with the wall. So when it was time for the actual first ascent, it went really easily (to be fair, it wasn't a very hard route...). But I the grade I gave was probably lower than it actually is, since my cousin thought I had sandbagged it. 😅

Both put up roughly the same time. One has been repeated multiple times. One has never been repeated. Should seem obvious by that. Although way more people have tried Burden in earnest than Silence.

      Burden has been climbed in

The question is for the perspective of stephano. It that context it makes a lot of sense because hes a better lead climber than boulder, although amazing at both.

Personally I believe Silence is harder as well. But I don't think it OBVIOUSLY harder like you stated. Burden was 3D printed and it allowed people to train for it. Could you imagine if there was a replica of Silence. People don't have to wait for the season to just work out the crux beta. And if you don't get it by the end of the season, you have to "waste" a couple of sessions in the next season just to relearn it.

@@DDNguyen93 , that's an interesting point about the 3d printing. But I still think Silence is harder because lead at that level is just harder in my opinion. Endurance is an entirely additional ball of wax and there's a damn V15 boulder in anyway.
Edit: And I guess I would add I might be bias thinking lead is harder than bouldering at that level because you see people like Stefano and maybe Sean Bailey who weren't really boulderers coming in and quickly being at the level of the boulder specialists.

Regarding the low point technique: how do you get the rope out of the quickdraws though?

    • @krakenattackin7617

What do you mean? You lead (or in this case, aid up a fixed rope) to get to the start of the crux, and then you climb from there upwards. Then if you fall you start over completely.

If the anchor is already clipped, I'd recommend going up on '2nd'. Or just dog your way up. They probably have fixed ropes and ascending gear.

You can clip stick your way up if you really want
