Why are people on this video forum to frighten people?? I am here to read positive stories from people who have tried this medication. As the doctor as already stated, not all medications work for everyone; and why would they when we are so all individual? Fair enough if you’ve taken it and had a bad experience- but why deter people and scare them into not taking it. Also if your sex life is too important than freeing yourself from crippling anxiety and depression maybe people should re evaluate there priorities for a while. As the doctor mentioned if you do get side effects they are usually short lived, otherwise try something else as it may not be the medication for you. If our anxiety is too much while taking it; isn’t it the actual anxiety we suffer with in the first place ?? Rather than the ‘medicine’ causing it? Something to think about as I’ve had to tell myself the same. I thought this was a great valuable video and whoever else is on this journey I am on day 3. 15 years of anxiety and depression disabling me and it doesn’t get any better, only worse... its just a progressive illness like anything else if not treated.

Thanks for your well thought out and articulate response. Too often we have the tendency to think that what happens in our own personal world must be the truth for everybody else and all should follow it. We are all individuals and have different genetic makeups that process medications different. To throw out a life changing treatment path because of a possible side effect is sad. I hope that you find what works for you. Good luck!

Not me.....I have been on Lexapro for a long time and it is one of single best things to EVER of happen to me. It took my severe, overwhelming GAD and crushed into submission. I mean pulverized it. I can't get anxious if I put all my will into it. People bash the libido reducing effects, however, as a celibate Buddhist, the libido crushing effects are much welcomed and have enhanced my meditation and spiritual path. Sure, I may look like a walking zombie to the Western world, but I sure as shit feel good doing it. I wish Lexapro was available when I needed it most....25 years ago when I was a teen struggling with constant day in, day out fear that got me NOWHERE in life. 15 years of anxiety and depression is WAY to long. I know, I've been there.

      Golden Manuever
Hello, I am really glad to have read your experience with this medication. I too suffer with what you describe, GAD, anxiety in its most severest form. I am now on day 4 of taking this medication. I honestly feel ok, no side effects that are troubling me so far. If I am to get side effects when are these likely to occur? I am feeling nothing so far. Would it be anything to do with the fact that I have been on antidepressant medication a few years ago? I really feel positive that this medication can work for me? I was on Prozac before for 6 months but was feeling numb and had anxiety whilst taking it so i stopped them. I am glad to hear you are well..

Thank you for your reply. This video gave me hope. I am very grateful for that. I am on day 4 of taking the medication. No side effects to report so far, if I am to start experiencing side effects when is that likely to start? Also how long is this medication safe to use for and when coming off it- are there any success stories you can share. Thank you.

Melanie Hi Melanie. First off please by all means ignore these videos in which someone tells us about their experience 20 minutes after taking Lexapro. It take a MINIMUM of 90 days for this to straighten the serotonin issue out. That is how slowly it “ramps up.” During that 90 days is when you’ll experience a change IF ANY aka side effects. For me, being a healthy and fit male it increased my libido and by 180 days it was all gone. Other than that, I’ve had NO side effects. The weight gain for me has been nominal. I am lean and strong so +5lbs hasn’t been much of a change.

I've been on Lexapro for 2 months now and have noticed a big change in my anxiety. I can stay away from home for much longer than before. I no longer panic at the merr thought of going out of town or spending the night somewhere other than home. My patience with my students has greatly increased. I had a fight in my class the other week and one kid had a bloody nose. I didn't panic. I didn't even yell. I just handled it. That never would have happened before.

June 2021 - I am still on lexapro 10mg daily. I still feel an improvement in my overall well-being. I did not experience any negative side effects. No appetite changes, no weight gain, no sexual side effects. I understand that not all medications will work for everyone but this significantly helped me.

I also take birth control for acne and levothyroxine for my underactive thyroid, and they all work well together.

@@avazip5792 Your body adjusts to the medication if you take the same dose regularly, and eventually you will be able to do sexy stuff again. If you do sexy stuff often, your body could be desensitized to it, so take a break and try again later. You can also experiment with toys, but it felt wierd for me. If it stresses you out, maybe focus on other stuff you like for now while your body adjusts?
Also, if you need the antidepressants to be more potent, you can skip your dose for three days then resume. But, I have found that self care helps when the negative episodes are severe. Like, a weighted blanket, exercise, warm bath, warm apple cider tea, relaxing music, etc.

If that’s a aside effect I can’t deal. Also I seen increase of seizures was one. My mom used to have seizures..... I have started to take this medication now. And oh my god......... Stopped lexapro after 8 days and never looked back. I have (had) pretty bad anxiety and PTSD. On Lexapro, i was seconds away from taking my life. Remember that "serotonin theory" is still just a theory, and true effect of these meds is not known. For me, the scariest part was ED, and possibility of PSSD. In 2 months I was able to recover, from the acute stage of anxiety. Reading books about ptsd/anxiety, daily journaling, crap loads of pre/pro biotics, nutritional yeist, vit d and omega 3, magnesium, multivitamin. THE KEY IN ANXIETY RECOVERY, IS TO DO THINGS THAT FEEL PARTICULARLY UNCOMFORTABLE AT THAT MOMENT. For me, at first it was going out of house, driving somewhere and than return to work.
Anxiety can be completely recovered, but you have to have the right state of mind, and understand that it will take time.

It's worked really well for me. Quite quickly too with no side effects. Yes for a male libido is effected but that's only for a month or so. People say they gained weight but that's just due to lifted moods which might make you eat more. It did wonders for me. Now I'm weening off to see how I'll hold up without it. All the best with it and don't be afraid to try it if you need it

Ive been taking escitalopram 10 mg for more than 3yrs now. II can say itworked for me. All i can remembered was the first 2 weeks of taking this., i was yawning big time😅 . My depression and anxiety got worst when my Mother died and also the covid time. I cant even go to groceries and to the mall without being worried what might happened to me, i know this pill is not for everyone.don’t stop asking ur doctor for another brand to try.

Huge anxiety and depression hit me the last time my boss yelled at me. Something just happened to me. I tried to exercise but it wasn’t enough. I started at 5, then 10 mg, after few months I went back to 5, now I cut it in half so 2.5 mg.
I think the problem is many doctors just prescribe it specially in the U.S.
You are not married? No Kids? Taking care of elderly parents? Drawing in student loans? Feel politicians like Biden only help special groups and not you? You feel invisible? You feel you are drawing in medical bills too???
I have a solution for you: take Lexapro!!!
In the U.S. we don’t solve the cause of issue, we just give you a bandaid

Was hoping this medicine would work for me. I took it for three days and am now running away from it. I’ve never dealt with panic disorder but the second day I took the medicine I was on side of the road in an ambulance having a panic attack. I had two more follow that in the next hour. Didn’t take it the next day, took it again because I’m desperate and on the way to work the same Morning, and hour later had another panic attack.
Chest started burning, eyes got blurry, fingers started tingling and my heart was racing.
During my first panic attack (only second one I’ve ever had) it was so scary I literally thought maybe someone put cocaine or MDMA in my food or drink without me knowing.
Today when talking about the what the medication, in my opinion, was doing to me, I couldn’t for the life of me remember what day it was.
I’ve never been on this medicine before but I do know it was the only change I’ve made in just the few 3 short days I started it. To me, no other explanation for the Al of a sudden panic I was experiencing

This is exactly what happened to me. I took it for 2 days. The night I tried to sleep, I kept having hypnic jerks throughout the whole night, terrible insomnia, panic attacks, heart felt like it was beating out my chest, vision was blurry and shaky. I'll never touch an antidepressant ever again .

I had horrible side effects from escitalopram. This is the 2nd antidepressant I had a bad reaction to. I am afraid to try anything else. I had burning mouth syndrome, gut issues, canker sores, angular cheilitis and the list goes on. I have been off for 3 months now and I am not doing well. This is one of the hardest antidepressants to get off of. My physical health has been ruined. I wish the good Lord would take me home.

i've been on it for 10 days and i'm a sweaty sleepy mess. But I am way more active and productive than I was before I started taking it, so i'm not going to stop and i'm not too worried. When I was on paroxetine it took a full two weeks for side effects to ease down.

Was on Lexapro for a WEEK. Couldn't get past the extreme insomnia, sleep deprivation and worst of all - sexual side effects. I would strongly urge the younger crowd in particular (I'm 27 for the record) to really use these as an absolute LAST RESORT. More often than not I feel chemically castrated. I now have lingering ED, my genitals feel numb to the touch and half the time I'm completely unable to reach orgasm at all. My libido has increased since stopping (albeit marginally) but this is something to really consider before taking the medication (or any SSRI in general, because they all have this effect). I previously had a very sex drive, btw. Sadly, at this point I feel it's permanent. I'm angry and disappointed that my doctor never discussed this at all (only that there would be some "fatigue" and "constipation", neither of which were an issue) but at the same time I failed to conduct any research of my own. At the time I was so desperate for a miracle cure that I wasn't thinking with my head straight. Tread carefully, is what I'm trying to say.

Have you tried taking Viagra or Cialis? You should ask your doctor to give you Wellbutrin. It helps with ED as long as you don’t have high blood pressure, it is an antidepressant that they add to your regular regimen to combat loss of libido.

In my case I have started with zytomil (essitalopram). I have depression and at the same time anxiety and trichotillomania as well. Must say the first few days I feel light headed, nausea and tiredness. Now I just cut the dose by half. Will see how the side affects are. Must say I am very more chilled.

Lexapro probably works great for a lot of people, however I am not one of those people. I'm continuing with a talk therapy and starting to do yoga again instead of taking meds.
I had just a single 10mg dose and I was taken off of it because I had racing heart, tingling, dizziness, nauseousness, felt clammy, my muscles kept tensing up for no reason, I couldn't sleep and I was shakey.

I had the MGs and same side effects as well as sweating in my sleep. Sweating more during the day. Unable to orgasm. No appetite and feelings of dread. I kept trying to oversleep because my sleep was broken up. I've only been on it 3 days and I'm just way too sensitive to it apparently.

I’ve been using lezapro on and off for about 12 years now, one problem I find is that being diabetic and using pills to control my blood glucose is that I have more tendency to have low blood glucose and have to carry sugary food with me . Also being older male it tends to be more difficult passing urine at night, sometimes being up 3 or 4 times at night to dribble 🤬🤬

Literally every antidepressant medication I've tried have caused extreme sedation and crippling physical health problems. Most just caused me to feel very drunk. I really don't understand why doctors think being intoxicated will help with mental health.

I have been taking Lexapro 10mg for about five or six years. It has had a very positive impact on my life and I would not consider going off it for a couple more years at least. Any time that I have come off it suddenly (unfortunately I didnt taper off it) has resulted in a return to me feeling very anxious and often with scary and paranoid thoughts.
