Thanks for the video mate, purchased a battery from a Mercedes dealer for £90 and then went about changing it as per your instructions, went as smooth as could be and took 30mins.
Thank you Sinorian Levon for posting this video. I have a 2010 E350 and your video is the only one that shows the exact location of the auxiliary battery (all others E class models seem to be in the trunk or the engine compartment). The Mercedes dealer quoted me $380 to replace it. I ended up buying the battery ($56 at the MB dealer parts dept.) and followed your step by step to replace it (it took less than an hour). I had to recruit the help of my wife (much smaller hands) to reach behind the panel to retrieve the old battery and install the new one) and that worked very well. Thank you! You saved me $324 in labor.
Thank you for the comprehensive video it is very straightforward if you follow the steps. In Australia the aux battery is located on the driver-side but everything else is the same. It was helpful to unscrew the kick panel near the pedals it just gives you easier access. FOOTNOTE: I went to my local battery retailer and sourced an aftermarket battery and it cost me $25 AUD. The equivalent Mercedes genuine battery is over $200.
The 2010 E63 AMG had the auxiliary battery in the same place as the video. I just changed it in my car. Thank you so much for making this video it is the only info I found on this subject. You just save me money thank you.
Robert Berteletti you are very welcome. When I was trying to change mine there was no info on it, and when I finally found where the battery was I wanted to share so people will know where to find that overpriced battery.
Thank you Sinoryan, this was the location for the aux battery in my 2013 E350, I think this is the last year in this spot, as 2014 has auto start/stop and thus bigger aux battery in the trunk. Once the panels are off, much of the work has to be done by feel. I have medium-sized hands, and they were almost too big, probably easier with a 10-year-old helper, but I didn't have one. Project will be tough for anyone with big hands. But I got it done and saved myself $200+, thank you thank you!
Great write up, thank you. I just did my 2011 E63 and it was the same as shown here. One thing to know before starting, most of the work will be done by feel. The only irritating part is that Mercedes uses that damn star pattern screw for the lower panel. Lowes had the correct size star head for a few bucks. My stealer in Arizona wanted $300 to do this; screw that.
@@Sinoryan Hi I get this message w my e350 benz : Service required, do not shift gears , visit dealer...Do you think its because of the auxiliary battery ? Thank you
@@Perseverence I don't think it is the auxiliary battery. I am not a car mechanic but as I understand auxiliary battery is used only for the memory. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful
I have a question my fuse that’s with that auxiliary battery is getting no power to it. Can you help me out on what can be causing the fuse to not get power from the wire
Where is the best place to get a replacement battery. I tried to get one from Advanced Auto and they gave me the wrong one but they said that's the one that they have in the computer.
The best place to get it is Mercedes dealer, from their parts department. They check which battery you need by vin number of your car. That's where I got mine from. But it is a little pricey. Or you can try Amazon/Ebay but personally I am against online shopping for battery because if the battery is wrong Amazon does not take it back.
Do I need to remove the main battery first? Are there any safety measures to take to avoid electric shock or damage to car system? I need to replace my auxiliary battery but kind of scare to do it. Thank you for your help.
Mashimaro White, there is no need to disconnect the main battery, it is not going to shock you. When I did it, I didn’t disconnect main battery. Just to be safe try not to touch the red wire to the body of the car by that I mean to any metal. Sorry I couldn’t take video while I was changing the battery, both of my hands were busy.
Thank you! I just replaced the battery last night and the system message hasn’t shown up again so I think I did it right. The hardest part was reattaching the battery and case to the metal panel. Otherwise it was pretty easy. Thanks again!
I love my 2011 e350 4matic but the more I learn about it the more headaches are involved in fixing the damn thing. Everything is over-engineered and over-complicated
robertb285 I am not sure about e-class AMG. Besides having battery underneath the hood I've seen battery on AMG in the trunk on the bottom right side but it is bigger battery. If you buy a battery from a Dealer with your vin number, you'll see if it is the same size battery from video than it should be the same place.
I don't think that will fix it, especially if there is no message on the display saying to change the battery. You can try to tighten tha main battery cables. Because that body had a problem of lose Negative cable from battery to the body of the car. I used to have a problem like that on my car but on mine everything used to shut down and come back on.
sokhoms mercedes.. some times youll find a batt in trunk, other times in the engine bay. some hidden under drivers seat (sprinter). aux batts, youll find them at any random locations. merc likes to play hide and seek....

What does the auxiliary battery do
My light just came on do I need to change it immediately and what purpose does it serve for the functioning I have a 2010 Mercedes e350
Incredibly I got one of these batteries (Mighty Max brand) on eBay for $11.99 including shopping. Thanks for the video!
I have 2011 E350. Is it located at same location?
If it isn't in the trunk, then most probably it should be the same location
