Roseanne was my TV mom after my real mom ran away. She was the only voice for lower, working class whites like my family.

Exactly! I’m Mexican, and I grew up watching Roseanne! Her tv show was truly “the middle to lower class American experience”
Blue collar type of people, which is a large portion of America.
Not to mention the social commentary for its time, helped so many people especially women.
Ex: there was an episode all about her sister, Jacky, being abused by her bf. You don’t even see things about that nowadays!

    I can't help but laugh.
Roseanne was making a show about poor working class American families but watching in Ireland in the early 90's we saw it as aspirational and the American dream. They were living like Dynasty from our point of view. 😂

LoL...i once served room service to the great Roseanne Barr @ the Flatotel in midtown Manhattan in mid 2000's.
Upon knocking on the door someone was screaming " who the fuk are you and what the fuk do you want??" LoL...i was a bit nervous but she opened the door and i remember walking inside the room and saw her tying her shoes and saw her gift shopping bags spread around the room. I kindly placed the tray on the table and walked out. But wow, what a set of lungs on Ms Barr...😊

When my dad wasn't violent, he was funny. I think all my siblings and I became funny by default, it's how you deal. When I was around 5, I'm not sure what I did but I know there were a bunch of people around and I made my dad angry enough to deserve a spanking. As soon as he put me over his lap I looked at him and said 'you don't need to spank me, you yelling at me is quite enough'. I wasn't trying to be funny, I was totally serious. But apparently he found it hilarious and he pulled me off his lap but let me go. I'm in my mid-forties and I'm pretty sure I will remember this forever.

Writing jokes and doing the same thing every night is the same reason I never continues drumming... Routine is a killer for my brain. Even after retiring from the service, I still get stir crazy in one place too long. I moved over 40 times in my career. I enlisted to be able to move all the time.
