Hello Alex So glad you are back It's quite a transition to go to a empty nest so no apology needed with getting everyone moved settled You needed to spend your time with your family What a lovely surprise for you moving your sewing space Can't wait for the tour You did a fabulous job with the plaid top I looked at some plaids last time I was getting fabrics and now I know that I need to go back and purchase some Looking forward to seeing you again can't wait to see what you are sewing next Take care God bless you
Honestly I wasn’t expecting to be as affected by the kids going as I have been, I’m sure the benefits will emerge soon 😁. Thanks for your lovely comment, I’m just hoping for some shelves to be put up and then I’ll do a little tour ❤️❤️❤️
So nice to see you back again Alex! You have been busy making some lovely things. I love your blouse. Nice shaping and pattern matching :) Your jeans with your sneakers perfectly align with your high, youthful energy and colour. I haven't been sewing as much as I think I will. I guess that means I've lost my "sew jo" as they say. There are a couple of culprits I've identified. My lifestyle, like so many others these days has shifted, I've lost 20 lb. which has triggered a massive culling. In all that activity somehow my style has changed. That has meant a complete dismantlement of my inclination to sew. I'm hoping it will return. I wander into my fabric and pattern stash seeking to stir my blood enough to get going but soon I find myself picking my book up to continue reading :)
It’s great to be back. I’ve found a good tidy of all my sewing stuff, organising patterns, fabric etc usually makes me want to get sewing again. Having said that sometimes you just have to listen to yourself and do what feel right at the time - you’ll be back at it eventually. 🥰❤️❤️❤️
Oh my goodness I missed you coming back!|!! Love your videos although I don't always follow trends either but I hope you don't mind I often make something that you have suggested. Welcome back and so looking forward to your future videos.
What a gorgeous top!!!! I immediately thought Vivienne Westwood. Such beautiful style lines and fit. So glad to see you back here, glad that you are happy and well xxxx
Good to see you back Alex. Cashmerette have a grid on their pdfs as you say makes aligning them so easy. Love your blouse. I made the stitch bird dress in the summer after seeing yours and pondering it for a while it’s a big hit 😍😎
Mmm nice! Would you wear a roll neck top under it? My version was for a summer wedding so an only one season make, but I’ve got some needlecord do you think that would work?
Hooray Alex you’re back. Your suggestions are great for me - similar shape and a bit older so much more realistic. Hope we’re going to see you regularly again now.
Great to see (and hear) you back - I missed you! Plaid is an American term for tartan or check fabric that isn’t a specific clan tartan. They usually use the term tartan only when referring to a clan weave. A plaid is a large square of tartan worn over the shoulder and pinned. Can be worn by pipers, drummers, highland dancers or women who want to wear their clan tartan. I would have loved to chat on clubhouse if the time differences were better. I got quite excited about it as a platform but haven’t really had time to get into it properly.
Welcome back Alex and congratulations on your brilliant pattern matching! Tartan is a sub group of plaid in that they are a plaid associated with a clan and are named. I think there's even an official body that keeps track of tartans and can say yae or nae to new ones. Being married to a Scot I also know that a plaid can also be a garment similar to a wrap/cloak. I'm off to watch that jean fitting video now as I'm really struggling with my first pair of Ginger's!
Brilliant, thank you so much Julie, I probably should have asked my wicked stepfather who’s a Scot he’d have put me right 😁. Good luck with the Gingers, once you get a fit you’re happy with they’re great ❤️❤️
That blouse pattern is one of the best I've seen, such a unique style and would suit so many fabrics in my stash. Your jeans look perfect on you. I do like that there are so many options with jeans, we can wear the style that we like and suits our bodies. Personally I have always preferred a boot cut. I am planning on making a pair of wide legged jeans soon. I found some denim in the stash that needs to be used. I am quite envious you are going to a sewing show. Due to covid there aren't any sewing shows in Toronto Ontario this year or last year. Maybe in 2022 if we are lucky. Enjoy empty nesting! My husband and I have been empty nesters quite a few times over the last 20 or so years. Five years ago my 35 year old son moved home for 3 weeks which turned into 5 years! He moved out a few weeks ago and I quickly took my back my sewing room. So happy to see you back.
I’m under no illusions and suspect they’ll be back on and off, the oldest was gone for two years and then back for 18minths due to covid which was lovely for us, but I suspect not so much for her 😂. I’m envious of your access to Blackbird fabrics over there, my brother in law is in Canada and I wonder if he’d be happy for me to place an order shortly before his next UK trip! Personally I’m glad to see the back of skinny jeans, I always felt I looked like a parsnip in them 🤣❤️❤️❤️
@@AlexJudgeSews oh you should definitely order the fabric and have your brother in law bring it to you. My son's friend lives in Liverpool and I'm so tempted to order some fabric from Beyond The Pink Door and have it sent to him so he can bring it to Canada next time he comes home.
Welcome back! Great to visit with you with my Saturday morning coffee. I headed right over to Stokx patterns, great find. Am I the only one who still loves skinny jeans? 😂
No, hang onto them if you love them, loads of people do. I resisted them for a long time because I was never convinced they suited me so am glad to say goodbye for a while 😁❤️❤️
Love the colour of your top! I always think of tartan as looking Christmas's and plaids not so. Yours looks likd a plaid in that vain. But I suspect plaid I acc just a term used by some people or in some countries and tartan is used in others? I'll have to go anf look it up now 😂. Anyway, Great to see you on tube again! Look forward to seeing what else you've been sewing and to seeing your new sewing room xx
Ahhh... so lovely to catch up with you again Alex 😁... I've missed your chats 🙏. Loving your shirt and like you mentioned.. great pattern matching at the front 👌. Your jeans look fab too 👍, and what a game changer those jeans buttons are... Thanks Sally, give them a try they’re soooo much easier. I was concerned they might dig a bit, but not a problem or maybe I just have plenty of padding 😁❤️❤️
It's lovely to see you again and you are looking fabulous! I love the style lines of the blouse, combined with the plaid it is really flattering. I love a flare jean but honestly my legs are my best feature since my waist has disappeared. Gen Z will have to pry my skinny jeans from my cold dead hands lol.
Yep, you do you - I took a long time to get my head around skinny jeans in the first place so I’m happy to ditch them, I’m not convinced they’re the best shape for me, but if they were I’d do the same as you 😘
