I live just south of Fresno, and yeah, completely true. I hate the sunshine, because we barely get any clouds or rain. Not hate, but strongly dislike. The heat is what kills me the most. SF and LA don't experience it as much as us here in the San Joaquin and Sacramento Valleys.

When the state was "discovered" and founded, the white racists made it a point to keep out people of color and kick out the indigenous people. While nowhere is perfect, we've become much more open and welcoming (especially in the past few decades).
