Why would he go through the trouble to get all the trash ready to be taken out and then not take it? And why would he open a snack and not eat it. Plus I believe he wouldn’t leave his little brother alone on purpose. Very fishy. My heart goes out to this family. Maybe the FBI needs to be called in.

Why would he wear his step fathers clothes? Why were his glasses broken on the floor? Why would he make a snack and not eat it? Why would he do it while he was the only person watching his 2 year old brother? Why would he put a bag and a belt over his head? Why were his feet not dirty at all? Why would he take the bags out like he was going to take them out but then stopped? Why wouldn’t they check for sexual assault? Why were his shoes kicked off in a weird way? Why was the 2 year old hiding in a corner? Why was the thermostat set to 80 degrees?
Way too many questions. Someone got away with murder. The parents need to ask for a meeting with the detective and ask them all these questions.

I agree. I’m also a person who can’t stand to be barefoot. I won’t even go to my own bathroom in the middle of the night without putting flip flops on. There is no way in hell I would ever kick my shoes off outdoors and just walk around. If I were ever found that way, question it! All of this seems really complicated for a “sudden” suicide. I don’t think a normal, happy 12 year old has the intestinal fortitude to do all of this. It really feels off. That poor family. Losing their son like that and then have every door slammed in their faces.

It's against the law for anyone to film or take pictures or have their home security cameras invade another person's private property and you can lay a complaint.
It's different if your home security cameras happen to capture activity outside of your own property as in the case of Chris Watts where the neighbor's security cameras (which were affixed so they'd be able to see their own driveway) captured Chris' actions on his driveway after he committed the murders of his wife & children.

Homicide vs self harm. You have to look at why he would want to take his own life. I see it because I lived it too. He feels his situation is unfair, and it’s not rational at that age. He is caretaking a 2 yr old, his sister gets to come and go to play sports while he has an alarm to tell him to do the chores. Poor kid was treated differently than his siblings. Those issues are big to a kid, especially if it happens frequently. I could not do extra curricular activities or have a job as I had to care take my intellectually disabled sister. I had to go directly home after school or stay home when school was not in session. I couldn’t even stop by a friend’s house after school. My all-star older brother got play sports, not do chores, and hang out with friends. He was 6 yrs older. 50 yrs later I still resent the responsibility I was given, and I couldn’t be in band, cheerleading, dance, or leave the house/yard. Both my parents worked, then my dad died when I was 12 yrs old. You slow simmer the older favorite child gets to come and go. You see it as unfair and favoritism by your parents. Kids make a decision in a minute that last forever. I see why he would have opted out.
Evidence: I have poor vision and still can do things without my glasses, go to restroom, dress myself, make my bed. Tell me his prescription for his glasses so I can determine if he was blind without them.
The police can obtain video footage from other people’s homes by request or search warrant.
People are not rational most of the time when they take their own life, so because he used this item and not that one means little.
Mom is blaming everyone so she doesn’t have to look at herself. I feel sorry for the family, but I see why he would take his life.

However, if other son was telling truth about someone chasing them around, caught older boy, restrained him and hitting could gaveled to him being unconscious.
Could have heard sister knocking on door so carried boy out to stage death, thus boys ft clean and why barefoot.
Then could have hid somewhere in yard or snuck out in chaos of her finding boy, removing from set, calling 911 etc.
Since initial thought suicide, wouldn't have thought to look for murderer escaping.

Thank you SO Much for discussing this poor boys case! Very few true crimers have touched it. Harsh Reality was one of the first. This case haunts me! One thing that wasn't mentioned: the family didn't normally lick the backdoor. They felt very safe there. Also they were getting ready to go on another trip. Sean was excited about it. He seemed like such a happy kid. What kid does their homework before deciding to off themselves??? No way! I have a theory that this family may have had a squatter in their house while they were on their Disney trip. And when they came home the squatter hid inside the house (like maybe the attic) and waited for his chance. This was the first time Sean was ever left alone with his brother. I can't see any other way someone would have got to Sean unless they were already in the house.

There is a comforting delusion shared by many people that all children are happy.
I first contemplated suicide when I was ten years old because I was being sexually abused repeatedly.
So many of these comments point out that putting peaches in a bowl and then killing yourself instead of eating them is irrational. Or how hating to be barefoot, but then going outside barefoot is irrational. Someone who is killing himself will probably do unusual things , because, of course, suicide itself is irrational.
I am as skeptical as other people about law enforcement and their shoddy behavior, but I do not think suicide can be ruled out. The family needs to go beyond the local police to the state or federal level if they have not already.
If I had succeeded in killing myself when I was a kid, my family would never have believed it was suicide. I cannot imagine what his family is going through.
I feel very, very sorry for this poor boy and his family whatever actually happened.

It’s not that they would or wouldn’t could or couldn’t lie, but there was a case where a little girl falsely ID’d her uncle as the rapist/murderer or her grandmother (she was an Eye witness) years later he was exonerated for it because of DNA. It was a man that looked like him. I believe she was 4 or 5 not sure on that detail. This is such a perplexing and haunting case. Poor boy, I don't believe he did this to himself (most ppl just dont believe it either) He seemed such a sweet, happy boy according to all who knew him. There's no way he would have left his 2yr old brother vulnerable. Although saying that, it was way too much responsibility for a 12yr old to look after a toddler imho. The Mum should have at least taken the 2yr old with her. We all have to do that with small children.

  • @LindysEpiphany

He did not take his own life, if his feet could touch the ground he would have stood as the panic of asphyxiation took him. Also his little brother saying he was chased by "a friend" and getting punched is a pretty detailed story. Why would he lie? He could have just as easily said that Sean put a belt around himself, a bag over his head and then went to the swingset. A 2 year old wouldnt think he needed to make up a story. He said what he saw happen. I hope they get answers!

This hits home 😕When I was in middle school I lost two friends back to back within a month or two- Dustin was 13 he passed away in a dirt bike accident (we got out of school at 3ish, both of his parents didn't get off until 8, his elder sister was in college out of state, his little brother who was in Elementary school was with their grandparents that day, and despite not being allowed to ride his dirt bike until his parents were home kids will be kids and he did it anyways ended up crashing being thrown off and hitting his head severe brain/head injury but sadly no one got home for a couple of hours and by then it was too late- I was 13 at the time i'm 32 now and I can still clearly remember the big goose egg swollen spot on his head at his viewing) and the other Daniel was 12 he committed suicide (everyone knew he had a bad home life and was a quiet really intelligent kid but we didn't know how bad things truly were especially the mental and emotional pain he was in until after it happened which sadly is normally the case with people who commit suicide- he hung himself from his bed post and we found out later he had attempted many times before that). And then when I was in high school 10th grade a classmate/good friend of my friend who was 16 committed suicide (his girl friend of a year had cheated on him, broken up with him, and he hung himself in his friend's dad's barn from one of the rafters- heartbreakingly it was another one of his friends who found him). I've suffered from depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and suicidal actions since I was 10/11 (my first attempt was at 11 and had tried and failed multiple times after that but it's been probably 8 years since my last attempt) and besides losing my friends I had also lost my grandma the same year right before I lost my two friends so it really was a crazy time for me emotionally and brought me front and center to death. I'm really not sure if this poor boy actually committed suicide or if it was murder and staged but no matter what my heart goes out to his loved ones, can't imagine what they're going through ❤️😕 And hopefully it brings them comfort knowing that no matter how much time passes he will ALWAYS be in his friends and loved ones heart (like I said before i'm 32 and I lost my friends when I was 13 and they're still very much in my heart all these years later) ❤️

Take this with a grain of salt. I'm going a totally different angle. Was his stepfather ever looked at? Maybe he molested the kid and attempted to make it look like a suicide so he wouldn't divulge the molestation incident? OOOOR the kid did kill himself but it was because of the molestation from his stepdad, which is why he put his step dad's close-kind of like a fu to him for pushing him to do that???? OR replace that theory with a theory of a neighbor doing that (maybe that's the mysterious hand print?). I will say that another option is that lawn truck but that 'making it look like a suicide' is kind of bizarre. The only thing that is really bugging me about this is the change of clothes to the step father's. Why was that done?

This has all the hallmarks of a bondage-related murder- the marks of a sexual sadist. I think there’s also significance to him leaving the brother alive (the 2 yr old). Maybe he was interrupted when the sister began knocking? It seems like he intended on killing the boy inside (thus the thermostat set at 80 degrees). The timeline is very important, how long would a killer have to come in, neutralize (and poss sexually assault) the boy, crank thermostat, find all the bindings and change victim’s clothes, then carry out the hanging? This will reveal a lot about whether the perp knew the family or the house’s layout.

However, while not impossible, the highly detailed staging of the death, the black bag over his head, the arms being tied, make the possibility of his death being a suicide seem absolutely absurd.
