Ja die SWISSAIR mein erster Schulferienarbeitgeber; professionell, kollegial, freundlich, grosszügig, tolerant, viele wunderbare Menschen haben dort gearbeitet! Das Ende dieser Fluggesellschaft hat mir das Herz gebrochen.
Ich finde den film einfach nur traumhaft, die musik passt 1A dazu ein riesen dankeschön an die macher.
Andris Rey Ganz meiner Meinung! Hat mich schon emotional in Tränen gerührt, diese einmalige und unvergessen schöne Stück Zeitgeschichte. Besonders auch das Mädchen hat mich sehr am Herz gerührt. Wie Sie das heute wohl selbst so empfindet, wenn Sie dieses schöne Video wieder anschauen tut...:-) ?
Amazing memories. Have just dropped a tear. I was on same SR 100 flight 2.7.1997. Was my first 747 flight ever, what a day it was.
A trip down the memory lane. Swissair is no more, the WTC is no more, the B747-300 is no more, the service is no more. The little girl is a grown woman now, the Captain, First Officer and the Mechanic are all retired now. I remember seeing their MD11 on a daily basis in ORD, what a class. The glamour is gone forever.

Ja, es ist traurig. Als Schweizerin finde ich es eine Schande was mit der Swissair passiert ist. Die Verantwortlichen sind nie belangt worden. Banken rettet man, aber unsere Swissair hat man geopfert. Der 11.Sept. werde ich nie vergessen. Ich hoffe, dass die ganze Wahrheit den Amerikanern bald gezeigt wird.
The most beautiful airplane in the world, with the most beautiful Swissair livery, still Swissair and not Swiss, the people were still decent and not as crazy as today -- what I would give to experience that time again.
I have seen this a few times and hurts me about Swissair and what happened. But also when the Captain with his crew was in the bus and noticed HB-IWF at 6:14 again heavy and tragic! So much Swiss has been lost and now there is simply nothing to be proud of in the air (my thoughts). It's nothing that it ever was to be proud of. I loved Swissair so much to fly. Loving memories
Thank you for pointing that HB-IWF fast passage. So sad and eerie to see it and think that it only had ~1 year of life remaining.
Worked for Swissair for a couple of years in the late sixties at JFK in New York. Wonderful people. Would love to see a few of them again.
In the late sixties, SR 110-SR 111 were my regular flights on B 747-200 as a Swiss diplomat's child travelling from GVA to JFK then heading to Washington DC with Branif or TWA...Loved it ! I miss it a lot ! Kind regards 💐
No matter how much time passed and how many kind of planes were built, this one is still the most elegant lady in the air!
....she was the queen of the skies! 2x from Frankfurt to Toronto...with best catering and menuecard! 1980...
I spend 25 years with this once great airline and it is sad that it is not around any more.

Brought back the fantastic memory of the Swissair DC-10 flight from Tehran to Zurich, April 1984. Great service and a very friendly crew.

At 6:10, you can see the Swissair MD-11 registered HB-IWF. It crashed less than a year after this video was filmed. :(

normally I don't like music in aviation videos. But I have to say, the music is perfect for the zeitgeist. It's Swissair! And it's a B747-300!!

Did you know that UBS shortly after felt into a financial black hole & needed money from the Goverment to recover (60 billions I think).

Während mein Vater darauf wartete, die Crew an Bord der brandneuen DC7C Seven
Seas mit der Seriennummer HB-IBK der Swissair-Fluggesellschaft auf der Flugstrecke Zürich - New York über Shannon zu übernehmen, filmte er diese Szenen vom Parkplatz aus mit seiner 8 mm.Ein Super Constellation Lockheed 1049 G "Super G" mit
TWA-Lackierung im Taxi und einem Boeing 377 Stratocruiser, der vor der Kamera geparkt ist, während das Flugzeug meines Vaters, der Radio Navigator Nocentini Pietro, ankommt. Von seinem Radiosender aus filmte er die Motoren mit voller Geschwindigkeit, startete von der Landebahn RWYS 4 und flog über die Gewässer des East River.

Ich bin stolz, dass ich mit meinen jungen 28 Jahren im Jahre 1989 diesen tollen Flug nach New York bestiegen hab. Das war mir damals nicht bewusst gewesen!

Einzigartige Maschine & einzigartiges Zeitdokument! Vielen Dank für diesen historischen Einblick in eine andere Zeit der Luftfahrt. Sehr schade dass die stolze Swissair später an ihrem eigenen 'Größenwahn' scheiterte. Sonst gäbe es heute vielleicht 747-8 oder A380 in Swissair-Lackierung
Vielen Dank Peter Müller - wir verwalten das Swissair Filmarchiv und vielleicht produzieren wir einen längeren Film, der nicht auf die damaligen Missstände aufmerksam macht, sondern das Einmalige dieser damals weltbesten Airline in den Vordergrund stellt.

Flüge mit der Swissair und der Balair vor langer Zeit. Captain Caro Stemmler gehört zu einer Generation Menschen die man leider nicht mehr allzu häufig antrifft. Höflich, korrekt und zuvorkommend. Ein Gentleman der Lüfte. Er ist nun schon lange im Ruhestand, dass kleine Mädchen dem das Cockpit gezeigt wurde, um die 30 Jahre alt ... die Zeit fliegt. Ein Filminterview mit dem heutigen Herrn Caro Stemmler der rückschauend von seiner Zeit bei der Swissair erzählt wäre bestimmt auch ganz interessant, oder gar das Cockpitmädchen und die anderen aus dem Film alle wieder zu sehen in einer neuen Doku, dass wärs. Auf jeden Fall ein ganz grosses Dankeschön an euch.

Thank you so much for this rare video! Good times before 911...passengers can take a view to the cockpit...they can take a seat on the jumpseat...I remember some flights in the 70th. The cockpit door was open! You can see the crew at work! At present the cockpit must be remain sterile! Good bye good old times....✈️
Tolles Video! Leider begann ich erst nach dem Ende der Swissairt mich für die Luftfahr zu interessieren(da ich vorher noch zu jung war), ich hätte die 747 und die MD-11 der Swissair sooo gerne mal live gesehen. :)

Ich honoriere schon den Versuch eine Musikfreie version zu suchen, 80er Liftmusik war damals vielleicht eine super Idee, wer konnte auch ahnen dass das Video auch 20 Jahre später noch von 200k + Publikum hat.
Finde die Musik total ok, denn sie passt genau in diese Zeit !
Und die Deutsche Lufthansa ist noch ein Tick besser!!!

This Swissair plane was the Advanced Boeing 747-300(SUD) from Zurich to JFK before the plane was being retired from services.

Not to sound weird, but I wonder if the same flight crew that was on the tragic flight was on it at the time of this filming? So sad to think about.
Great video, but no where in the Bio do I see what year this was. So, I'm guessing sometime mid to late 90's? As the Twin Towers are still there, and the flight engineer was smoking in the flight plan room.

An oldie but goodie before Swissair went out of business I flew on SR 100 and SR101 several times, they were always fine flights.How about having a flight engineet on that old 747!
Many trips in HB-IGA and HB-IGB as SR110 and SR111 in the early 70s, also late 60s in the DC-8! JFK-GVA and back

That man thought me; "It does not change the level of responsibility, whether you fly alone or with hundreds of people on board. As a captain you and the crew are responsible to get that bird safe up and down again." That gave me a lot on my way! Thanks Caro.

I miss aviation of the 80s and 90s.
So many beautiful birds. I used to fly the MD11 from Varig 3-4 times a year. Loved that bird.
And its just not as cool and glamerous anymore.
People dont dress to fly, service sucks. everything looks cheap.
